“Comfort and access with a view”

Reviewed 19 Jun 2015

Comfortable and clean cottage with satisfactory kitchen, fireplace, and a wonderful exterior garden, a fine place to enjoy your first cup of the day. There are great mountain views from many of the rooms, which are all tastefully furnished. I was pleasantly surprised to find a reliable and ample supply of hot water and a cooker (stove we say in America) that did a respectable job for us. I really enjoyed the bucolic setting and the closeness to hiking and mountain-bike trails, Snowdonia National Park, Castle Harlech, and the beach town of Barmouth. I also worked in a little birding. All in all, can't wait to go back.

Response from the owner Many thanks for coming all the way from Florida to stay here. You made the most of visiting around the area and our chats were a pleasure. We'd love to see you or your family again.

“The perfect holiday”

Reviewed 8 Jun 2015

I stayed here with my husband and two children aged 9 and 12. It was the most perfect holiday from the moment we arrived. We were made very welcome with local and very much appreciated gifts and fresh cut flowers. The cottage is in the most beautiful setting and was the perfect size for us with plenty of dining space, a well equipped kitchen and a lovely outside area to watch the sheep and lambs from. We had a busy week visiting many places, some nearer than others, but definitely worth a visit including Conwy Castle, climbing Snowdon, Ffestiniog Railway, Barmouth Beach and Locally CMC where we spent the day rock climbing and abseiling, then Gorge Walking! I wish I was still there and will definitely be back to stay again.

Response from the owner You certainly made good use of your time here exploring both locally and further afield. Delighted you reacquainted yourselves with CMC at Pensarn who took you abseiling, rock climbing and gorge walking in our local river. Thanks for being perfect guests - we'd love to see you all again.

“Beautiful quiet retreat with interesting and varied local walks.”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2015

Had a very restorative time staying in the cottage. Ben was friendly and welcoming and everything we needed was provided.

Response from the owner Thank you for being perfect guests. Delighted you enjoyed exploring both locally on foot and further afield. It would be lovely to see you again.

“Peaceful location and welcoming, comfortable cottage.”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2014

Stayed here with my husband and our teenage daughter and had a very warm welcome from Ben at this well equipped, comfortable cottage (small house) which included cake, beer and vases of flowers upon our arrival. Fantastic location for peace and tranquillity, with good walks on the doorstep to beautiful waterfalls and a short drive to the village for local supplies and two pubs, Ty Mawr and The Victoria for evening meals. We preferred Ty Mawr as it had a more local clientele and good food. Also good location for the beaches of Harlech with its fantastic castle, Shell Island and a bit further north past Portmadog, Black Rock Sands. Plenty of other trips easily undertaken from here; Festiniog Railway, Portmeirion, Centre for Alternative Technology, Snowdon Mountain Railway and lots of admiring of scenery from all of us. We all came back feeling very relaxed and happy.

Response from the owner Delighted you enjoyed your stay and we enjoyed meeting you. And thanks for being lovely guests.

“Peaceful and relaxing”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2013

We would thoroughly recommend a stay in this cottage. We both very much appreciated the peace and quiet and the beautiful surroundings. We were impressed by our friendly welcome and enjoyed our history lesson about the church! The little vases of flowers and the chocolate cake made us feel very welcome, it's these little things that stick in your mind and make you feel comfortable. We would recommend: a walk to Nantcol waterfall; a visit to Llandanwg church and a walk along the beach for the views of the hills; walking up Snowdon - we recommend starting early if starting from Pen-y-Pass since the car park fills up quickly; walking in the other big hills, such as Tryfan and the Glyders; visiting Barmouth and the surrounding area - the coastline is stunning; an Indian meal at Saffron in Barmouth; a visit to Beddgelert; second hand bookshops in Barmouth and Dolgellau; and further afield, Bodnant gardens which we visited en route. The only downside is that we didn't have enough time to do all we wanted to so we would recommend a longer stay!

Response from the owner Delighted you enjoyed the cottage, the peace and quiet and the surroundings. We were impressed by your energy and fitness, you did a lot in a few days - we must get out and do some of these things ourselves!

“Wonderful stay!”

Reviewed 23 May 2013

We had a lovely stay at the cottage this spring. It was incredibly comfortable, and had everything we needed. Beautiful scenery, with wonderful walks right on our doorstep; Super comfortable cottage; Well stocked kitchen; Adorable lambs; wonderfully toasty despite the cool weather; and so convenient to get anywhere. The owners were so helpful and kind, cake awaited us, & were able to answer any questions we had. We loved the daily fires, feeding the lambs, and lovely walks right from our doorstep. Beaches nearby are gorgeous, and there is so much to do right there. The children had a great time, and both the cottage and the farm were perfect for children. We have already booked for next year (and are wishing we could get back sooner!)

Response from the owner Delighted you and the children enjoyed your stay. We look forward to your visit next year.

“Wonderful gateaway from it all where one could enjoy the scenic”

Reviewed 8 May 2013

We were given a warm welcome on arrival and shown round the neatly arranged amenities and told us to give the owner a shout should we need any help or advice. The cottage is well presented and appealing with a homely feel. Having the directions came in handy as sat nav could not guide us to the exact location which is off the beaten track. We enjoyed walking around, especially to the beautiful waterfall nearby. It was breathtaking. My wife enjoyed feeding the newly born lambs,a photograph of which already is enlarged and framed taking its special place in our living room as a memento of a great family holiday.

Response from the owner Your visit was a pleasure for us. Delighted that you enjoyed the sea, rivers and the mountains. Delighted your grown-up family enjoyed themselves also; there's something for all ages near here. Your shepherding skills are impressive - the sheep are missing you! We'd love to see you all again!

“Brilliant, comfortable, accessible isolation with generous and w”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2013

We've just come back from a fantastic week at this cottage. Our three year old revelled in the freedom and the setting, with streams and woods to play in and views all around. We both really enjoyed the unspoilt countryside. The owners are very warm and generous with their time, without being intrusive. There was a chocolate cake and flowers waiting for us on arrival, as well as concerned text messages to make sure our journey was progressing well and with useful route info, despite the horrendous weather. The owners, on the adjacent farm, really couldn't have been more helpful, even when we arrived at midnight. The cottage was as it appears in the photos. No nasty surprises and clean and well appointed. We'd definitely go back, every year if we could. Enjoy it!

Response from the owner Delighted you enjoyed the local walks and your youngster could practice his cycling skills on the farm lane and enjoy the excitement of pooh-sticks. We'd love to see you all again!

“Peaceful location comfortable accomodation”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2012

We have been 3 times now and always found it a quiet relaxing holiday in beautiful setting. Grandson (3yrs) had a wonderful time playing poo sticks in the stream. There are also some small (3inch) trout in the stream so must bring some fishing gear next time. Owners are extremly helpful, village shop has everything you need and beaches are a short drive away. Walks locally suite all levels from easy to climbing Snowdon. We visited the Ffestiniog railway and the copper mines near Beddgelert. Slate mines and other attractions within easy driving distance. The cottage has all the facilities you need washing machine, spindrier, microwave etc.

Response from the owner Wonderful to have you staying again. Glad your grandson enjoyed himself again this year. It's a joy to see him growing up in leaps and bounds. We hope to see you again.

“Tranquility in the Welsh hills”

Reviewed 21 Aug 2012

A stunningly beautiful location which has provided us with a tranquil escape from city life for the past 16 years. The fact that Glyn artro is a working farm was the first thing that attracted us and continues to draw us back, as does the friendly welcome and wide range of hill walking opportunities, literally on the doorstep.

Response from the owner We always look forward to your visits and it's lovely to see the children as well, who are now all grown up. Time flies! Your walking and biking exploits are truly impressive and you have mastered the Welsh buses to extend your walks even further!
