“nuestro santuario”

Reviewed 6 Feb 2014

We rented Casa Libertad for the month of January, 2014. Elena responds promptly and professionally to correspondence and requests. The information she provided was accurate and complete. Upon our arrival, Elena and Elky immediately made us feel at home. Everything was as we imagined it to be only better. The road in is rough and very steep however, Elena's direction were spot on. We returned our rental car the day we arrived from San Jose. Elena graciously offered us a ride to drop off our rental car and gave us an orientation tour of Quepos shopping, restaurants, etc. The walk to town is about 20 minutes; taxis are about $4.00USD one way. Buses leave Quepos for Manuel antonio and beaches every half hour (7-7 / $0.60) so a vehicle isn't necessary. Elena will gladly help with tours, rentals, etc. where local knowledge is essential. Casa Libertad sits on a steep bluff over-looking the Pacific and Quepos boat harbor, away from the tourist crowds. There are just a few other houses on this dead end road in a pleasantly quiet and safe neighborhood. The grounds are nicely maintained with flowering plants and trees. There are lots of colorful tropical birds and occasionally monkeys come to visit. There is a small park at the bottom of the hill (15 min. walk) and swimming in the cove there is safe. A rustic trial from the casa also goes to the cove and is very steep. The casa has all modern conveniences and a fully equipped kitchen. The casa is comfortable, open, and clean. We sometimes awoke to the call of Howler monkeys. If anything comes up Elena lives across the street. The farmer's market is a treat. This is a special place - our sanctuary. Pura Vida.

Response from the owner Peter & Linda, Thank you for your wonderful review. It was a pleasure having you around and I hope I get to see you again some time soon. Pura Vida!

Libertad is one othe most amazing places I have ever stayed in my travels around the world. The house is gorgeous, everything is new and clean, air conditioning works great, state of the art kitchen and large dining table. The house is surrounding by lush jungle and there are often monkeys around. The yard is beautiful with a table for eating at and a perfect view of the ocean with amazing sunsets. But all of that is not even my favorite part; the best part of the house is that it is a 10 minute walk through jungle to a private secluded beach with the most aqua water you have ever seen. The beach and casa libertad are like little pieces of heaven. I am already planning my return in 3 months :)

we arrived to the end of crab mating season to find easy to locate groceries, friendly locals, ex- patriots, midwesterners with their second home nearby: all letting us know, "this is my favorite area!" "your views are stellar!" "this is the real costa rica!" take elena's advice and rent the Jeep or other four wheel drive vehicle to get the most out of your stay in beautiful, relaxing, friendly costa rica.  be prepared to enjoy, eat some of the best fresh fruit life has to offer. (we couldnt help but make fresh salsa everyday.) the gorgeous open house, so simple really, with its big windows looking out with a clear view over jungled hillside above the ocean, is private yet not secluded.  at night, a leisure ship of some size or other, with and without sails, might anchor directly below, lights aboard shining, reflected in the water along with moonlight - and so many stars.   our hosts were amazing.  they felt and still feel more like friends in another country.  we think of them and smile warmly.  so many special memories with them, whether being welcomed back to the property by their friendly pets, their showing us how to feed monkeys in the trees, or take the rocky path down to the private cove... or point us in the right direction for sights, experiences, good memories. we came prepared for horrific humidity and felt fine.  we came ready for mosquitos, never had a problem.  skip the bat cave bar in manuel antonio

“Amazing home away from home!”

From the get go, this wonderful home was the perfect getaway! Our group consisted of five friends looking for relaxation, sunshine and ocean filed days, adventurous outings within the comforts of "home". We easily checked in and made ourselves comfortable. I was afraid the one bathroom would be a problem but it was not. The fact that we had a full kitchen and two cooks made our stay even better; in fact, there was no problem/fight over whose turn it was to do the dishes because the view of the ocean was breathtaking. The kitchen was by far the center of the home stay. We spent most of our time in dining area/kitchen making food/drinks and playing cards. Our hosts were kind, friendly, attentive and helpful. We made friends for life and plan to return again and again.

“Great morning monkeys, sunrise and sunsets!”

Great place to call your own and feel at home! Elena and Elky were the perfect hosts, always helpful, always available and a pleasure to deal with. Lots of space, clean and centrally located to start your daily adventures all around the southern parts of the country. We drove as far as Uvita & Ojochal in the south & back for day trips to the wonderful beaches, restaurants, yoga and other activities. There is no pool but the beaches nearby are so beautiful that you don't need one and waking up to feed the monkeys running over the roof at 6am is not something you experience everyday! The house has easy parking, dogs as guards and seclusion. We hope to come back some day! Thank you ladies for everything!
