“Amazing Costa Rican Paradise”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2014

We had a wonderful time in Costa Rica. Villa Oceana was amazing...breathtaking views and a beautiful house with all the amenities you could imagine (swim up bar, outdoor BBQ/fridge, indoor/outdoor speakers, free local phone & free us/Canada phone, Wifi, satellite TV). There were many highlights of the trip, but mostly it was just spending time at the Villa with the beautiful view and wildlife. Several types of monkeys would come by everyday and we saw lots of sloths & baby sloths, plus toucans and huge iguanas. We did a few paddleboarding excursions & paddleboard yoga with Paddle9 which was great (good group rates too, very friendly). We went on the Ocean King for a sunset boat cruise, which was really fun. Good food, drinks and activities. We also saw some humpback whales and dolphins. We surfed many times by just renting boards on the beach, and even went to Dominicale one day for bigger & better waves. I would recommend all those things. I was not overly impressed with the Manuel antonio national park. We definitely saw many more animals & wildlife just at our house. Plus there were no crowds. We went to the park at 7am and left by 12 noon. The beaches are stunning, but that is the only reason I would go back to the park. Local restaurants I would recommend: Barba Roja & LaLuna at Gaia for a more upscale dinner. We also loved Emilos Café for breakfast & lunch.

“A beautiful setting for our family reunion!”

Reviewed 1 Mar 2012

Both homes were beautiful with breathtaking views. The landscape and pools were delightful gathering spots for the family at the end of fun filled days. The holiday rate is extreme and so plan your visit to avoid the holiday rate. We highly recommend the option of a personal chef service as our absolute favorite experience was the incredible meals prepared by Cornelius and Francine with plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. There was an air conditioner unit that was broken upon arrival. We were assured it would not affect the temp of the house unfortunately it did especially when the second air conditioner broke down. In addition there were many ceilings fans not working. The beach was truly beautiful and should be part of your experience. However, it is a cab ride away or a 20 minute hike on a busy road. We were informed we could walk down our road to the beach in 5 minutes. This is true except these directions take you through a hotel property and the owners forbid access through their lobby to the beach. The concierge organized our activities which included zip lines, horseback riding, mangrove tours, birding, massages, surfing and atvs. These were fun memorable and a great value.
