“WOW! An amazing place to stay”
This villa is beautiful in a beautiful city. We have just returned from spending a week here with friends and didn't want to leave. Equipped exceptionally well right throughout and the terraces are fantastic to sit and enjoy a glass of wine or two. You can see all of Lucca from the top one. Walk out the front door right onto the Main Street filled with shops and restaurants. James, the manager, made the booking process stress free and supplied plenty of info about how to get there etc.! Marina welcomed us with a smile and showed us around and answered any questions we had. We enjoyed the cooking class with Alessandra and would recommend it to everyone. Thanks so much James, Marina and Alessandra. Treat yourself and stay in this amazing place. You won't be disappointed ! We would love to return again one day.
5 adults, 4 girls aged from 5 to 12, from Sydney, Melbourne and Edinburgh, the magnificent town of Lucca, trips to Florence, Pisa, Cinque Terra, and in an unbelievable apartment - quirky, cosy, fantastic space and character, terraces, amazing views over the rooftops, and very helpful and flexible management through James and Marina... A truly great and very memorable experience. Would do it again tomorrow!
“Amazing property, incredible location, friendly service!”
We chose to stay in Lucca for the month of March and experience life as an Italian. James, the owner, was very understanding of our needs and was able to arrange any special items we requited. Marina is on site and functions as a concierge and general "huge help". She is very friendly, patient, seemingly tireless and always available. The location on Via Filunga and directly across from Piazza antifeatro afforded easy access to anything you wanted or needed. The apartment was spacious, clean, well-furnished and maintained. The wi-fi was speedy and the projection TV was a bonus. The elevator, albeit small, was helpful when my elderly parents cam to visit and when we needed to carry our infant and 3yo down in the stroller. The views from the dining room table and the tower rooms are unforgettable, and when the violinists come at sunset to play in the piazza and the music drifts into the living room windows... well, I suggest experiencing it for yourself.
“Large comfortable apartment in wonderful Lucca”
After three weeks in Italy, our group of 3 australian women arrived in Lucca. On booking our accommodation in Lucca, James had kindly sent us numerous documents giving information including how best to get to the apartment - very useful. We were earlier than expected, but I sent Marina a text message and she responded immediately and kindly met us and showed us in. We had stayed in a few places over the 3 weeks, but this apartment outshone them all. The apartment is spacious (understatement) and very clean. The location is excellent - we were able to step out the front door and immediately be in the heart of things. We were able to walk everywhere, and even getting lost was fun! The tower was great to climb and I have many photos to remind me of the wonderful view. The apartment seems to be set up to cater for non-Europeans, which to us was great - there was a "real" toaster, a kettle, and a washing machine that one could understand. We had had enough of boiling water on the stove and "baking" bread in other toasters in other accommodation. Little things I know, but one appreciates some comforts in life! The main lounge room with the view and selection of books was well appreciated. We found a great Tuscan recipe book and became very friendly with the local delicatessen, fruit and vegetable and bakery owners, as we cooked meals following recipes in the book. There are many restaurants nearly that we frequented also. We had planned to use Lucca as a base and travel to other places (Florence, Cinque Terre) during the day. We did do a half day train trip to Pisa, but decided that Lucca (and the apartment) was worth most of our time, and spent our days exploring - the other places will have to wait. Back home now and am already trying to plan how I can return - this time my stay in this wonderful apartment will definitely be longer. The only "downside" to my stay in Lucca was the wonderful shopping - my suitcase suddenly grew in size and weight!
“Superb apartment in Lovely Lucca.”
We were a group of four Canadian women holidaying in Italy for the month of September. We could not have wished for a better start to our holiday than our two weeks in the walled city of Lucca in this wonderful apartment. James made the booking process so simple and during our stay dropped by several times for wine, activity planning and good conversation. We loved the walking tour, the wine and olive oil tasting and the 'in-house' cooking class that he arranged. The guides and chef were all very professional, knowledgeable and lots of fun. Marina who manages the apartment and lives below, greeted us on arrival and provided a warm and enthusiastic introduction to the apartment and the town. The apartment is beautiful with a huge living room as well as three other sitting areas and three terraces. We each had our own bedroom. We loved the breathtaking vistas of the town and surrounding countryside. The apartment is well equipped and beautifully maintained and the elevator was greatly appreciated. It is ideally located on the main shopping street in the midst of the town and within steps of wine bars, restaurants, and shops. Lucca is ideally located for day trips to Florence, Pisa, the Cinque Terre, etc. The last evening of our stay coincided with an annual festival called the Luminaria di Santa Croce. The narrow streets of Lucca were lined with thousands of candles for a three-hour procession that ended with hundreds of drummers and fireworks. It was a magical ending to a magical holiday. We spent a week on Lake Como and a week in Venice but unanimously agree that Lucca was the highlight. We would highly recommend this apartment and we all hope to return again soon.
“Large beautiful apartment with majestic views of Lucca and the h”
My husband, our three children, and my Mom and Dad (7 people total) stayed in this apartment for four nights. The apartment is on the top floor/3rd floor of the building which allows for the most amazing views(an elevator is available to use if you don't want to walk up the stairs). The location couldn't have been better as it is located on the best street in Lucca and is right across from the ampitheatere. The apartment was very clean, spacious, and it seemed to have amazing views from every single room. We loved the apartment and hope to be able to stay there again on our next visit to Lucca.
“Best Vacation Ever”
This stay in Italy was a first experience for us and it was better than anything we could imagine. The apartment was perfect for all of us to stay and be comfortable. The location to shops and restaurants and bus and train stations could not have been better. We are already looking forward to a return visit. Kathleen and Richard Smith
“Fantastic Italian Vacation in a luxurious apartment in the cente”
We loved our 2 week stay in the Deluxe Lucca Historical Center apartment. The apartment is actually nicer than advertised and the website photos don't do it justice. It's huge, with lots of space for the 7 people we had there. The bedrooms and bathrooms are much larger and nicer than any other European hotels we've ever experienced. Also, it's in a perfect location within the walls of Lucca. We could walk to everything in town and the bus stop and train station. We took five day trips to Florence, Pisa, Rome, Viareggio and Cinque Terre which were very easy to get to yet we were so excited to get back "home" in the apartment in Lucca. Thanks to James and Marina for making our family vacation our best vacation yet! James even took us up into the Tuscan Hillside to view a few other Villas that he rents and Marina fielded a few phone calls for us while we were in Rome. Thanks again. We'll be back soon.
“Heaven on Earth...”
I hesitate to write a review because I would like this apartment available to me whenever I want to go again!! But, it's so special I think sharing it is only fair! Our 2 weeks in Lucca would not have been near as wonderful without this unbelievable apartment. There were 7 adults and everyone had lots of space to move around or socialize. The location is ideal; walk right out your door to the shops, wine stores, and restaurants. Having Marina right downstairs was a Godsend, for any emergency or issue that came up. She is open, delightful, and very helpful. We were lucky enough to meet James while we were there and he, too, was exceptionally helpful. He even showed us one of his larger villas that we may rent next year! All in all, it was perfect. I have no criticism at all. Grab this one while you can...I'll be booking it again soon!!
We stayed 4 nights at this apartment in the middle of the busiest street in Lucca and had an unbelievable time. The 360 degree view on the very top floor made our stay the best of all we have experienced thus far. If people-watching is one of your favorite past-times on vacation, this location is definitely for you. People enjoying themselves is such a pleasure to see - welcoming you into their interactions makes it even better. Lucca is a very friendly village that provides many such interactions. The apartment accommodations are fantastic - well appointed furnishing and modern kitchen makes it easy to enjoy your time in many ways whether eating in or out! The layout and interior furnishes are high-end and very well done. The inside experience competes with the many activities available in Lucca itself. It sometimes challenges you to stay within this apartment's many comforts. !
