“Great location and very friendly neighborhood!”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2012

I love having my own apartment while visiting the island for 3 weeks. Also love being away from all the tourist and living with the very friendly locals. It only cost 13 pesos ($1.00) to the center on town, or a 20 minute walk. Many delicious taquerias around the neighborhood. The apartment was very spacious and very clean. I had my private balcony which was great for my morning coffee. The room has a queen size bed, the mattress is "extra firm" it took me several days to get used to it. The kitchen is well equipped with a good chopping knife, cutting board, dishes and very good quality pots and pans. The aC is located in the bedroom and works very well, you only need during the night. The hot water is plentiful. Fabio was away during my one week stay and I was welcomed by his cousin Claudio, property manager. Claudio was was super nice and resolves things very quickly. As a Chicago host I know how important it is to have someone who is truly invested in making you stay a pleasant one and Claudio did so very graciously.

“Apartment in Paradise”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2012

I recently stayed at the La Rinconada from the end of Feb. till the end of May. Fabio and Claudio are two of the nicest guys you would want to meet. The place is situated basically in the middle of the island. Only a half hr walk to downtown or 5 min cab ride. All the apartments that they rent are perfect for a short stay or a lengthy stay like we had. They have a beautiful palapa on top of the apartments where you can relax and sunbath or even do a little entertaining if you have some friends on the island. The apartments are spacious, clean and have all the amenities of home. My girlfriend and I looked at many apartments on the island before we were lucky enough to see Fabio trimming one of his trees when going on our daily walk on the island. When he showed us the place we know it was perfect for us. (We had looked at many places and this was a gem compared to a lot of other places, which were even more expensive) The apartments are very reasonable in price considering what you will pay downtown for just a room. They are very close to many great taquerias. Monchis one of the best places to eat on the island is just across the street. It is also a 5 min walk to Chedraui (which is basically the Mexican Wal-Mart). You can get everything you need there if you want to do your own cooking at the apartment. I could go on and on. Overall the island is as beautiful as any Caribbean island that you will travel to. The people of the island are great and we made many friends in the short time that we were there. I recommend La Rinconada to anyone that is spending time in Isla Mujeres. Thanks again for the great stay Fabio and Claudio and hope to see you again next yr.

“Our home away from home!”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2012

If you want to be away from town, and with the people. This is the place to be. You are in the middle of town, and can walk to both ends of the island from here. We are avid walkers, and love this part of the island. We love our landlords, and have great dinner parties with them .Our rooftop deck is the place to be, for a drink, and dinner. We love Isla. Have made alot of good friends there!

“Wonderful extended vacation”

I can not say enough nice things about our stay at La Rinconada. We were here for several months and have no complaints at all. Fabio and Claudio were very attentive to any needs and the home was perfect for us. It was spacious and well maintained. I do not like the "touristy" areas and La Rinconada is in a residential neighborhood but only one block away from the beach. There are 2 very good restaurants on the block, one is right across the street, you can lean out your balcony and ask Ziggy or Ramone what's for dinner. The bedroom in the unit we stayed in was very large and had air conditioning. Nice bathroom and the living area is spacious. This neighborhood is on the north half of the island about 1 mile away from the "town" area which has many good restaurants. The island itself is like a hidden paradise, you can always find a secluded beach to walk at sunset. My fiance and I treasured our time here and plan to return to visit the friends we made. Thanks again to our excellent hosts!!! Mitch and Nastia

“Fantastic stay on Isla!”

We had an amazing time in Isla Mujeres and our apartment was just what we needed. We loved staying in a neighborhood with locals rather than the touristy areas. We did not meet Fabio, but his cousin Claudio greeted us with all the information that we needed for our stay at La Rinconada apartments. They provided Wi-Fi and we even rented a golf cart to drive around the island from a lady staying in one of the other apartments. There is also a great little place down the street to have breakfast called Mango Cafe. We had a magical time!! Thanks!
