Saffron Guesthouse has the best location in Melville, located in 7th street, the heart of trendy Melville, close to Johannesburg CBD, the SABC, Media 24, Wits, the University of Johannesburg, Milpark hospital, Capitol hill and Melrose Arch. Melville is also close to the stadiums - Coca Cola Park , ABSA, Wanderers and Soccer City. Nearby suburbs include Rosebank, Parkhurst and Greenside. Minutes away from Johannesburg Country club, Houghton Golf course, and Kyalami.

Melville, Johannesburg is great old suburb with a vibe and buzz oozing from 7th street, where there is a great mix of quirky, unique and ecclectic shops. Lots of bars and pubs, great food places, art galleries and an information centre. Melville is a fantastic place for a traveller with no vehicle as walking is close and comfortable. The SABC 2 soapie 7de Laan based loosely on the lives and characters of the famous 7th Street, in old Melville. A great favourite of foreigners, artists, journalists, actors, celebrities, who all form part of an amazing energy, that makes this heritage site and village so unique.Melville is eccentric, quant, lively and NEVER boring.

Melville is one of the few areas of the Northern Suburbs to have cafes, restaurants and shops lining the streets rather than in enclosed shopping centres.
