A great little guest house ... fully equipped with all you need - and more. Such a quiet and peaceful location ... a hidden treasure for sure! We will be back!!

“Wonderful find”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2013

This was a wonderful place to stay, great guest house, location and hospitality. Barry and Jean were awesome and made us feel right at home. If we ever return to Nova Scotia we will definitely stay here again. All of the conveniences of home and then some. And of course, we can't forget Bijoux the cat. We almost packed her in our suitcase and brought her home. A must stay if you are in Mahone Bay.

Response from the owner Thanks so much for your kind words ... we would love to have you stay with us again on your next Nova Scotia vacation. Barry & Jean

“Superb accommodations offering a tranquil stay”

My husband and I have enjoyed many stays at this guest house.. The hosts, Jean and Barry Rowe have always gone above and beyond our expectations. We look forward to their genuine and generous hospitality.. You will always be treated warmly, no matter what! We recommend their place to anyone who values a very clean and well equipped quiet accommodation.

“We celebrated our 33rd anniversary at The New-Found Guest House!”

Reviewed 23 Oct 2012

We were looking for a quiet, inexpensive, private spot to spend our anniversary weekend. We discovered this place on-line. We love the Lunenburg area, and were happy to find a spot that was very close. We are not much for fancy dining, but planned to go out for some nice suppers together, but brought food, as it was advertised as a housekeeping cottage. We arrived Thursday evening, and were warmly greeted by the owners. What we liked most was the location! It is at the end of a dirt road (no traffic) and the guest house is not far from the main house, but far enough away so you feel you have lots of privacy. (My wife was initially nervous about this, but loved it!) A cozy living room/kitchen/bathroom downstairs, with a big bedroom/TV room/office upstairs. We loved the privacy so much that, while we did go to tour Lunenburg (Barry recommended the distillery, which was great, and of course, the Fisherman's Museum is a must, as well as nearby local wineries), we ended up making all of our meals in the cottage - preferring the quiet, relaxing atmosphere there to any of the fine restaurants around. We were happy to be able to stay there three nights (two nights are just not enough to really relax and unwind)! We went for a long walk down the lane at the end of the driveway, toured Lunenburg, checked out Bridgewater (the nearest bigger town), but always were glad to head for 'home'. Jean and Barry were very hospitable - helpful, but not intrusive in the least. Our only 'regret', if it can be called that, is that, after perusing their guest book, and seeing how many commented on Jean's biscuits (and sometimes, jam) that she kindly provided during their stay. Well, we didn't get any, but we can hardly fault her for that! We understand that she can't be doing that for everyone that comes... But my wife liked it so much, she wants to go back! And that, for me, is the highest compliment we can give about this wonderful, peaceful spot.

“Perfect Cozy English Cottage”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2012

Staying at the New Found Guest House just added to our vacation. The cottage with its cozy decor was a relaxing treat to come "home" to after our day of touring. Just wanted to put my feet up and have a cup of tea. Location was convenient to Halifax, Peggy's Cove, (enjoyed Lunenburg the most). Jean and Barry were wonderful hosts.

“The Perfect Place to Relax”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2012

Jean and Barry have done an excellent job creating a clean, comfortable and cozy Guest House. Their property includes well tended, beautiful gardens, many birds, squirrels and Bijoux, their loveable feline. Our over night stay exceeded our expectations. The House is located at the end of a dirt road where you will not hear slamming hotel doors, rowdy neighbours or traffic. It contains everything you might need for an over night or week long stay! For supper, we went to Trattoria Della Nonna in Lunenburg and that was simply amazing! Worth evey penny; as it is often the topic of converstation at our supper table!

“Great place to stay!”

My family stayed at the New Found Guest House for a few days and loved it. The cottage has everything you need and most importantly, was so clean! Very well taken of and Barry and Jean are wonderful.

“A cozy spot in the midst of beautiful gardens!”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2012

We loved our stay at the New Found Guest House. Our hosts were gracious and friendly and the house was nicely decorated and comfy, set in a beautiful yard with lots of trees and flower gardens. The cottage offered everything we needed at a price that was very reasonable. We will definitely go back.
