“Exotic and convenient holiday!”

Reviewed 13 Dec 2014

We spent two great weeks at Hibiscus Cottage, very secluded and nice place! The house is amazing! Everything looks exactly as on the pictures. There is absolutely everything required - towels and beach towels, WiFi, washing machine, all the kitchen stuff and even set of nice tea pots to take wonderful Sri Lanka tea at the terrace. The garden was terrific! It was possible to see monkeys so close!! Shower which was partly open-aired brought us so many wonderful impressions (tropical warm rain or moon seen right from there). The house is very close to the beach and different restaurants. Near there is supermarket with really friendly owner, a place to buy fruits, wine store and other nesessary places nearby. The personnel was extremely friendly, helped us with all the issues and even arranged transfer from/to airport at very reasonable price with much comfort. The owner is very friendly too, always gives feedback and much useful information. Thank you very much for our great holiday! :)

“Very quiet and relaxing”

We had an excellent stay at the cottage with our 2 young children who shared the spare queen bed. Although it was monsoon season there was only limited rain and the house sits up on the hill and catch a good breeze. The fans in the bedrooms are excellent and we did not require the A/C (only available in the main bedroom). The cleaners were discrete and did an excellent job. Each evening we had the pleasant company of frogs and toads singing in the pond. We will most likely stay there again.

“Stunning! The gardens are beautiful & the rooms are perfect!”

Our rooms at Hibiscus cottage were stunning. The open-air atmosphere is lovely. Excellent location & great tips from the staff on places to see in the area.

“Perfect and Private House”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2014

we had 5 very fun nights at the Hibiscius Cottage and really enjoyed our stay. We traveled with a 7 and a 2 year old and the house was perfectly equipped for our stay. The kitchen was fully stocked, and with a full sized fridge and the WIFI was fast. There is only one AC unit in the main bedroom though and we could not get the ceiling fans spinning fast to be much help so we were at times (mid afternoon) hot and longing for some AC....but with a cold shower and a cool drink we were fine! The cottage was perfectly clean and is also cleaned daily. Sheets and towels were perfect. The cottage is only about 4 mins walk to the beach although the closest beach is not really suitabel for kids. we would catch a tuk tuk to Unawatuna Beach which is only about 8 mins away. We used the neighbor, Chavinda who are freinds of the owner of the cottage for tuk tuk rides and also his lovely mum for babysitting of our kids - they are lovely people and very trustworthy and honest. Highly recommended. We even used them once we had left and moved to another villa. it was great to have our own place especially as we had 2 small kids although there were times when we wished we had a pool - but we had to return in the afternoon for kids sleeps when most others would still be at the beach...if they could increase the fan speeds and maybe add another pedestal fan then the place would be perfect. The restaurant at the end of the street delivers food too! also you must go to Wijaya Beach Club for some of teh best local swimming with great wood fired pizzas and icy cold beer! take me back....thansk you for the stay and we all loved Sri Lanka and especially our time at your fun and quirky little cottage. “Chilled out retreat”

Had a wonderful, relaxing week at the cottage. Really enjoyed the location ...the garden is beautiful and had a lovely Sri Lankan breakfast a couple of times. So close to the beach and great value for money. Great wifi connection and cable TV for the kids. Highly recommended. Duncan and ajith are great people who will make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible

“An Excellent Stay at Hibiscus Cottage”

Reviewed 11 Mar 2014

Four of us (two couples) stayed at Hibiscus Cottage for 12 nights during January 2014. We loved the house and really enjoyed our stay here. I found ajith to be extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. The house is very spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is very well equipped so we often cooked our own meals. There is a nice, private garden and as the house is situated in a quiet lane away from the main road, it was very quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed watching the monkeys playing in the trees! Another bonus is the fast Wi-Fi which is free, and we found the washing machine to be extremely useful. The house is excellent value for money and I would definitely recommend it for two couples or a family.

“wonderful stay - perfect location”

Hibiscus Cottage was so lovely - the road can be so noisy but the cottage was a peaceful haven but still so close to the beach. We had a wonderful 2 weeks there and would definitely recommend it.

“Relaxing peaceful stay with our family”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2013

A most enjoyable experience. The house is set up the hill a little but away from the main road. It was close to the beach and a lovely walking distance along the beach to the Unawatuna strip. We were able to share our time with our family, the facilities of which allowed this to easily occur. The monkey family, whilst probably annoying to the locals were of keen interest to our grandson who could speak monkey language by the end of our stay. Nice garden with plenty of room to play or just sit if need be. Air con in the bedrooms. Lovely breezes in the lounge / kitchen areas with the windows and doors open. We didn't have the pleasure of meeting Duncan as he was away however ajith more than compensated with his friendly lay back style and assistance.A pleasure to stay.
