“A Week in Paradise”

Reviewed 6 Mar 2013

This was our first trip to Cayman Brac, and we were shooting blind trying to find a place to stay. It was a somewhat last minute trip, and many places were already booked. Thank goodness we found Winta Cottage. It is as laid back and unspoiled as the rest of the island. We were met at the airport by the property manager, who was full of useful information about the island. The cottage has everything you need, without anything that will distract you from the natural beauty of the island. Amazing snorkeling right out in front of the house; wear water shoes! Beautiful sunsets from the deck, and hammocks for an afternoon snooze, not to mention an outdoor shower. I highly recommend staying here!

“An Extraordinary Island Experience!”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2012

I stayed with two friends for ten days at Winta Cottage in June 2012 and had a wonderful time. This was my first visit to the Caribbean and I was well-aware of the stereotype of an island visit: tourists in massive numbers, families on all-inclusive vacation packages, harassment from islanders eager to ply their wares, etc. Cayman Brac (thank goodness!) rejects all those notions! The Brac is quiet, isolated, unspoiled, and utterly beautiful. Snorkeling off Buccaneer Slip was life-changing (we were all first-time snorkelers); the fresh fish, conch fritters and homemade fruit punch at aunt Sha's and Barry's Golden Jerk Chicken at Edd's Place are the stuff dreams are made of. The Brac(k)ers are unbelievably kind, gentle, and hospitable folk (encouraging us to pick mangoes from their trees and teaching us to open coconuts with a machete) in a place that looked a lot like paradise to me. Winta Cottage was the ideal place to stay for our trio. On the beach, overlooking the northern side of the island, and at the dead end of a long road a good distance from the street, the cottage offered everything we needed for our stay. We cooked often - using both the kitchen facilities for some amazing breakfasts and the outdoor grill for evening barbecues. We spent a lot of time at the cottage when not in the water, the caves, or touring the island in a rented Jeep (a must for getting around - see Nola @ B&S; Motors), and our time there was magical. The local wildlife around the cottage was fascinating (had a rainy eve we'll forever remember as 'Night of the Living Frogs' :), the birds were amazing, and the night skies viewed from the balcony with a cold Red Stripe (take a pair of binoculars!) were unlike any I've ever seen! Winta Cottage is spacious, clean, efficient, comfortable and ideally located. We cannot wait to return!
