“This place is fabulous!”
My wife and I took a 4-night trip here with friends this February and it was the perfect place for a tropical getaway. The ground floor unit has a beautiful walk-out view to the incredible pool, only steps away. The location is excellent, close to the airport, nearby restaurants, and some of the finest golf in the Caribbean. That said, we spent the majority of our time on property and my only complaint is 5 days seemed like 15 minutes and we suffered some mild depression as we were forced to leave the island. Can't wait to return!
“Beautiful, Peaceful and Lovely!!”
My husband and I and our 14 year old daughter and her friend stayed at this lovely villa for Easter week. The villa was so beautifully decorated and well appointed, it met our every need! All of the appliances worked perfectly, there was even a pannini maker, and my husband made us all pannini's for lunch every day! The bed is the most comfortable I've ever slept on, and the cleaning lady was there every day, and was so gracious and accommodating. We had been to SotoGrande and Punta Cana before and we just love everything about it, but staying at Jim's special home just made it even more of a beautiful, peaceful stay. The hotel staff is wonderful, they just can't do enough, I truly felt like royalty! The seating inside and outside is so comfortable, just perfect for relaxation. Thank you Jim!!
“Great time in paradise”
Spent a long weekend here with my wife and three other couples. We had a great time. The location is great and easy to get to from the airport. The resort is beautiful. Rooms are great and well decorated. Loved the patio with hot tub. Swim up bar was too convenient! People were super friendly. Played some awesome golf courses. Sand was white, water was blue, sky was clear and they never ran out of rum. Would totally stay again.
“Would have been great...but...”
Long review ahead. Get some popcorn... I really hate to be the first to write a negative review, but here it is. Please notice that the reviews here were mostly all from January of 2013 and prior. Mine is only the 2nd one from 2014....so, I'm guessing things changed a bit from the early rave reviews. The Good: -The resort itself is quite impressive overall. It's better than the pictures, no doubt. -The staff was very friendly and accommodating overall. -The beds were comfortable and the place was pretty cozy. I can certainly see why it has received rave reviews in the past. -The view from this condo was great and honestly, you are 10 steps from the pool, 15 steps from the beach. It does not get much better. -The unit was stocked pretty well with most everything you need for a comfortable stay. It was clean and a great size for our party of 3 adults and 1 child. -The resort's food was pretty good. Didn't have anything I didn't like. Very Americanized menu but they threw in some Dominican items at dinner which was nice. -The Cap Cana area was PERFECT for those looking for complete respite and relaxation. It's away from the craziness of Bavaro, yet close enough to Punta Cana Village, the Cap Cana Marina village, and beautiful beaches. I was in LOVE with the area. The Bad: -The communication with the owners at first was slow. I waited a week or two to get a response but once I did, the communication flowed pretty effectively and seamless. -The directions to the property from the owners were horrible. It's super easy to get to but poorly described by the printed out google map that I was furnished with. -The seaweed. Oh lord, the seaweed. This is CERTAINLY out of anyone's control but we could not go in the water. I'm from Florida and I'm used to seaweed but this was coming in droves. Both Sotogrande/Alsol Del Mar and Juanillo Beach were unusable. Just a bummer. -There was some confusion as to whether or not maid service was included in our stay. Apparently it was not but one of the staff members said it was, then another said no. This was not a big deal but just miscommunication. The Ugly: -The condo was poorly maintained, period. From the moment we arrived, we started having maintenance issues. The AC was not working at all, the plunge pool was growing green algae and was unusable until they cleaned it on day 2, the hot water heaters were turned off (which we had to figure out ourselves) and then even after they were turned on they needed adjustments so I could shower for more than 5 minutes, the dishwasher was dirty with old remnants of food, rust all around the bathtub, lamps weren't working and TV remotes needed batteries. Yes, some of these things were minor, for sure, but the AC was not a minor problem at all. After listing these issues in an email to the owner, the property manager promptly came to assess everything with her team on day 1 of our trip. She gave A LOT of excuses for things ("It's very hot in DR so the AC takes awhile to cool", "The dishwasher isn't dirty, it's just the minerals in our water", etc.). I felt like I was bothering them even though these were legit issues. The staff and owner continually told me that they "never have issues like this". Well, great, but, they're legit issues! Everyday we had service people in the unit , multiple times a day, trying to fix the AC that was not only not cooling, we woke up at 4am on day 2 to a, electrical burning smell that filled the condo (scary!!) and then there was a horrible foul smell that filled the place up on day 3 coming from the AC that lasted the remainder of our stay. I can't even describe the smell. Then on day 5, the AC just started flooding the kitchen, streaming water out of the ceiling, as in, we needed buckets to catch it. It also flooded the master bathroom on day 1. These service people had to re-drywall the ceiling on day 2, paint it on day 3. We were literally planning our vacation around service people because they only have ONE KEY to the unit. Not only that but how awkward to be trying to relax in the condo with service workers in the middle of the room! They finally moved us on day 6 of our one week trip to another condo (lovely unit 3304). I had lost my patience with it all at that point. After seeing this unit we moved into, it was CLEAR that the first condo was not maintained well. The manager comped the meals we had charged to the room at that point and gave us the all-inclusive for the last day and a half of our trip, which was much appreciated since it equated out to about a $400-$450 credit, but to be honest, that wasn't enough of a credit after paying $1400 for a week to stay here. I asked the owner for a partial refund and he declined. He did originally offer for us to come back next year to spend a free week, which was fair, but I honestly did not want to take a chance on this condo again after saving a year for THIS trip that was severely inconvenienced. I would return to this resort but not this condo. Very disappointed.
“Fantastic Beach Vacation!”
We spent the most wonderful and relaxing week at this condo in SotoGrande. The accommodations were perfect for our family. It was absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed to enjoy our week in CapCana. The location was awesome--we enjoyed relaxing on the outdoor patio and the short walk to the beautiful pool and beach. The view was spectacular. The staff was incredible and made our stay even more relaxing and enjoyable. We had so much fun with all of the activities at the pool and in the main lobby. The 4th of July American cookout was loads of fun. We loved it here and would definitely return to stay at this lovely property.
“Private and spacious apartment, perfect for a family or 2 couple”
The apartment is clean, modern and spacious, perfect for a family. We loved the outdoor space and spent most afternoons lounging on the patio furniture reading or just gazing at the gorgeous view. We recommend renting a car. Loved Caleton Beach Club!!!
We had an incredible time at the resort! The property is located at a very exclusive and beautiful area right on a private beach, the pool is fantastic. The place is brand new and very modern. The condo is very well equipped has everything you need. The property manager and his wife were outstanding, great people! They recomend to visit Juanillo Beach and Caleton Beach Club. The service at Caleton was outstanding but we could not swim because the beach was full of seaweed. We rented a car, (they have a complimentary transportation to anywhere inside the Cap Cana property), so we could explore beyond the boundaries of Cap Cana. The marina at Cap Cana is nice with a couple of nice restaurants If you want to get away from the all-inclusive crowds this is the place. In short, We hope to return soon, can't wait!!
This condo is brand new and all furnishings are spectacular. Located inside Cap Cana, a massive development and gated community. Better yet, it's just 15 minutes from Punta Cana airport. The owners are very easy to work with and the local property manager and his wife were outstanding and met us on arrival - on a Sunday afternoon - helping us get situated with everything. Really great people! Weather was great - one day of rain and wind, but far better than Chicago :) Stay away from Hertz rental car - they never have cars :( Use Budget and get your reservation in advance. For families with kids, there's not much to see locally - Las Terranes is one area we wanted to see but it would take 10 hours each way. We just hung out at the pool and relaxed with our kids every day - tough time :) The golf course is amazing - maybe the best course I've ever seen ... and the pro is easy to get along with and enjoying a drink at the clubhouse after putting practice was sublime. the clubhouse is also brand new, with restaurant and pool, outfitted with Jack Nicklaus photos and memorabilia, library ... it's spectacular. The local supermarket "Nacionale" has everything you need for cooking up great meals - and blending pina coladas :) Almost everything you could imagine at the store and reasonably priced. The beach at the condo is perfect - kept clean daily and easy to walk around - swimming in the ocean right there is tough since it's very shallow. One day we went to Juanillo Beach and the swimming was great but the beach was littered with trash - a little sad actually. Back at the condo, the grounds are maintained impeccably - the pool is so clear and fresh for swimming. We all stayed in the pool all day long. Brand new lounge chairs and tables that are so comfortable ... and Wifi works perfect, the office hardly knew I was gone. Tough to beat and easily the best Caribbean experience my family has had yet.
“Incredible Beautiful Luxurious Private Resort”
I stayed at Sotogrande for unfortunately only 5 days! This resort is beautiful and very private (gated community). The place is brand new and very modern. Incredibly secure.Right on a beautiful private beach.Huge pool and gorgeous landscaping. The views from the unit are stunning. Specifically, this unit has probably the best location of the whole resort. Decorated and furnished with sophisticated taste, it has everything one would expect of a first class condominium. I expect to go back very soon. I have recommended the place to several of my friends who are known to be quite picky and demanding...and I am very confident that they will remain my friends and even thank me,once they they have experienced this jewel of a condo in one of the best location in the world. You will have a memorable time ...I guaranty it! Frank
