“Lovely place in a living part of Manhattan”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2014

Very nice apartment in a part of Manhattan where people actually live. And don't get discouraged by the sign on the refridgerator that says: "Sanctuary NYC is 100% Vegetarian Facility ... Thus we do not allow the preparation of non-vegetarian items (meat, fish, eggs) in our apartments." This was an surprise to us since there is no mention of this on the website. We asked the personell about this and they told us that this is only a recommendation and not a prohibition....

“Just in the middle of Lower East Side”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2014

Coming from Fance. We were located in the appartment Vamana E3, fith floor. We had the Empire State Building straight in the bedroom window, it was like a dream for my daughters. And the breathtaking experience was the building roof with a 180° view on Manhattan from Chrysler tower to Freedom tower via the Hudson river. Very clean, especially the linen. We were five with my wife and three children.

“Peaceful and pleasant studio”

A very suitable appartment for a family. Beautiul interior and a nice view from the roof. Easy to reach by subway.

“A good Hotel in an strategic good place”

Room for 4 Persn was ok. Unfortunately the street outside at this days were quite loud. Beds and Bathroom is abolute ok. Reasonable pricing for this strategic place at Manhattan. Also asmall brakfast is available which makes the day good start.

“Wonderful”

Very clean, comfortable and relaxing. Lives up to the photos. I'd definitely stay again. My only complaint would be that the Wifi didn't work very well at all, which was a little frustrating. Other than that, perfect.

“Perfect Location, Incredible Room, Unbeatable Neighbourhood”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2014

Located just south of East Houston Street in the LES, The Sanctuary Guest Suites at 196A Stanton Street are the perfect location for people who have seen the city sights before, and are ready to experience the village life of New York. We stayed in the Buddha Suite which also included its own private balcony that I would highly recommend. The rooms are extremely well appointed, contemporary, and for New York standards large. In my opinion, on a size basis, you will not get better bang for your buck. They are clean and well maintained with easy lift access to our level 2 apartment. What we reviewed on the sanctuary guest suites website was exactly what we got in the flesh. It was that good. The bonus is two blocks either side of the apartments you will find everything you may need from multiple dining options including diners, restaurants, and pubs; spas; great local coffee houses; breakfast bagels; more doughnuts than you could poke a stick at; shopping; liquor; convenience stores; a subway station; local parks, and that incredible LES ambiance which is different to anywhere else in new York and different to the East Village as well. The West Village and East Village are within easy walking distance of the LES, and if care to travel further north, which we didn't take the subway. My tip is to talk an easy walk west of Bowery and experience the incredible neighborhood. Thank you Mario.

“Clean, convenient and good vibes.”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2014

Fantastic alternative to hotels. Convenient East Village location close to many restaurants, bars, parks and historical sites. Having previously stayed in Lower Manhattan and Mid-town many times, the quiet, clean and tranquil vibe at the Sanctuary was a welcome change. I was visiting solo for business but I would definitely recommend a stay with family as well. Neighborhood is safe and free of any elements that may concern parents. I would have no issue staying with my 7 year old daughter. The staff went out of their way to make sure I was settled in as well. All around great stay.

“Very clean and spacious with a wonderful balcony!”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2014

We stayed at the end of July and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The queen suite was very spacious and allowed ample room to unpack and hang everything up. The kitchen was a bonus. We didn't cook but did store some take out items in the refrigerator. The unit was exceptionally quiet in terms of street noise which is a huge benefit in the city. The subway was about five blocks away and easy enough to navigate. Would definitely stay again if it were in a different part of the city, just because we like to pick a different area every time we come to NYC. The hosts were very nice and helpful. There is a great brunch spot just around the corner. The weekday breakfast of cereal, toast, fruit and beverages was just the right amount of food to get us going every morning and back out to exploring the city.

“A Diamond in the East Village!!!!”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2014

On arrival at the apartment , we were warmly greeted by our host and given a quick walk through of the accomodation. The kitchenette and dining/ living/sleeping space were ideal for our vacation purposes. Our children are aged 14 and 6, and as well as 2 adults.....there was plenty space to relax. The bathroom area was kitted out well with plenty of fresh white towels and the added bonus of Bosch washer and drier meant holiday washing was taken care of daily. The slimline dishwasher was an excellent help too. Due to the humid NYC weather, the air-con was a necessity and worked wonderfully to keep us all cool at night.Cupboard space, iron and hair dryer as well as a multitude of other home comforts made our stay in this neighbourhood of NYC, both welcoming and extremely practical when travelling as a family. The rooftop views were magical and shouldn't be missed!! We would recommend this highly to a variety of people looking to live as a New Yorker!!!! Thank you again The Wilkies from Glasgow

“Quiet nest in a lively neighborhood”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2014

We had the Raja room. Spacious, bright, comfortable and clean. Very good mattress and shower. Breakfast with everything we love most: toasted bread, all kinds of jams, butter, milk, cereals and fruits. Pity not on Sat and Sunday. Plenty of restaurants nearby (Lower East Side and East village) so didn't need to go farther away after a tiring sightseeing day. Subway 10 min walk (Delancey-Essex), short walk also to Greenwich and Soho, not to mention Williamsburg, just across the bridge. Really worthy giving it a try.
