“Excellent value and lovely "home base" in Prague”

Reviewed 26 Mar 2014

My sister and I ( ages 56 and 61) stayed at this lovely and spacious apartment in Prague October 12 - 16, 2013. The apartment is managed by Monika of "Charming Rental Prague", who speaks perfect English and was a delight to work with. The booking process was very easy and straight forward. Monika was kind and considerate, and was very helpful and professional when we spoke with her on the phone as we planned our stay, as well as while we were in Prague. She was very patient giving us directions over our cell phone when we got lost trying to find the apartment (the bus routes were on detour so we ended up completely lost!), and she met us with a big smile even though we were 2 hours late arriving to meet her. She was also very quick to repair a broken kitchen cupboard and bring us missing glasses. The apartment is beautifully renovated, very clean, and centrally located in a safe area, and is exactly as shown in the pictures, and has every modern convenience. And yes, the bathroom really does have a glass floor with a view to an old cellar! The location in "Stare Mesto / Old Town" is perfect ... it is within walking distance to everything in Prague, with lots of great restaurants, cafe bakeries and grocery store nearby. Only issue we had was that customers from the Pub next door would gather under the canopy in front of the apartment's front window to smoke all evening, so we were not able to open the window or the privacy blinds which was unfortunate. Tip: We highly recommend having Monika arrange a car to pick you up at the train station and drop you off when you leave, as getting to the apartment by public transit is not easy unless you know the city. Overall, we felt that this apartment offered excellent value, and were very happy with our stay and would recommend it for anyone looking for a lovely "home base" in Prague. Thank you Monika for taking such good care of us!

Response from the owner I would like to thank you for your kind review, which I sincerely appreciate. It is always a great pleasure for me to help with anything our quests are in a need of prior to their arrival and of course also while staying here in Prague. I was sorry for your troubles at the beginning of your stay with the public transportation and would like to emphasise to our potential guests that it is very worth using our service of transportation, not only because the public transport is unknown for you, but also because of the very bad reputation of Prague´s taxi drivers, who would charge you an extreme amount of money for just a short way. Our last guests who wanted to use public transportation and then decided last minute to take taxi from the train station were even charged triple more than our normal price. Our driver will meet you in the arrival hall with the sign with your name and will take you to the apartment straight without any hassle. He will also call me and I will be waiting on the exact time in front of the apartment. Concerning the pub next door, I would like to ask all guests staying in the apartment that if ever this happen again, please contact me straight and I will call to the pub straight to solve the situation. The owner and all staff are very kind and considerate and always react straight. We put a sign on the window´s sill that it is forbidden to smoke or stay near the window of the apartment almost all people respect that sign. However there is always someone who could overlook the sign and in this case, please dont hesitate to contact me. Thank you very much again for your nice feedback and hope I might see you again when next visiting Prague. Monika

“Happy Holiday in Prague”

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for Christmas 2013. What a treat. The apartment is beautiful and charming. The location is perfect. As we walked around the city we were constantly shocked at how close all the sites we were to the apartment. Monika was fantastic! Super helpful with the apartment and even left us with homemade Christmas cookies (which were excellent). She also arranged transportation to and from the train station, even though our train leaving the city left at 5 a.M.

“I want to return!”

My husband and I spent a most magical week after Christmas in Prague centered at this wonderful Old Town apartment. It was extremely well furnished, complete with plates, glasses, nice pots and pans (Yes, we cooked!) coffeemakers, and even plenty of paper goods, and extremely clean. The bathroom was magical with the window view to the city below--great shower and the luxury of a washer and dryer! The heated towel racks were wonderful especially in the cold weather. The bedroom was large with plenty of closet and storage space, but more important, the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The design gave a feeling of spaciousness which is helpful when you spend more than a day or two. The living area was furnished elegantly but comfortably, and we felt very safe and at home. The location was perfect for us. Easy access to the Old Town Square and to the bus/tram stations, grocery stores and bakeries, yet tucked away so that there was not a lot of street noise. We had no problems with the Pub next door. Even at New Years they never disturbed us in any way. They actually helped us one night when we were in immediate need for a native speaker! They even let us bring a carafe of wine and glasses over to the apartment! The service from Bohemian estates was excellent. I didn't bring a European phone so communicated via email, and they responded in a very timely manner and with great help on the few occasions I needed some assistance. They arranged for a driver right from the airport and offered to help us with our departure arrangements. Special thanks for allowing our daughter to be at the apartment to greet us when we arrived! I would use the company again, and really wish I were still there. Thank you for a marvelous stay.

“Home away from home!”

My wife and I are staying at this amazing apartment for an incredible 4 months! She is studying architecture here while I work from the apartment. That said, the wifi here is very fast and reliable. The apartment has literally everything you could ask for, and then some. We are enjoying the modern, efficient kitchen, the large flat screen TV, the extremely comfortable king-size bed, and the showstopper...the luxury bathroom. From the towel warmer to the rain showerhead, soak tub, washer/dryer, lighting, and the "window through history", we feel very pampered here! We love looking down through the glass floor to the medieval cobblestone steps and arches below - what a treat! The apartment truly is walking distance to anywhere you would want to go, including convenient public transit stops (tram, bus, and metro). Old Town Square is a skip and a jump away from this quiet and quaint street. There is a small square with trees and benches, a corner market (potraviny) where you can buy all the essentials, and of course, next door is the James Joyce pub. The small amount of noise you may hear through the walls is far outweighed by the benefits of having such a special place next door. The staff is extremely friendly, speak very good English, and are respectful of the fact that there are apartments on either side of them. Skip the other touristy Irish pubs, and enjoy this cozy yet energetic pub! We feel very lucky to have found this apartment, not only for its physical attributes, but for its fantastic owner and management company. Martin makes sure his guests have everything they need, and the management company has stellar associates who go above and beyond to ensure you have a nice stay. Both owner and management happily answered any questions we've had about the apartment and Prague, and have responded promptly. We are only a month into our stay but already don't want to leave!!!
