“Ideal for a young large group”
The majority of short term rentals we looked at in margaret River made it very clear that parties weren't welcome. This was not the case at the Straw House. We had an amazing time and were relieved we weren't surrounded by other apartments or houses. All of us could play games and have a drink without having to keep things down. The house was far bigger and cleaner than we were expecting and was perfect for what we wanted (age ranged between 25 to 30). You won't be let down by your stay at the Straw House!
“Only the best place to stay in the South West ever sublime”
What a wonderful home, from the moment you walk in you feel welcome from the lovely cake and wine to the pig that lets you scratch her belly, every thing about The Straw house was just perfect (ok the knifes could do with sharpening... but that was the only tiny complaint) This home fitted myself and husband our daughter and son-in-law, our two sons and our three dogs with ease and room to spare. The dogs were in heaven roaming about with lots of interesting things to smell and not having to be tied up or always on leads. We cannot wait to have a return visit (and a much longer visit) in the near future.
“So much space to roam and play”
We had a thoroughly enjoyable 3 nights here in the 2nd week of the October '13 school holidays with our 3, 6 and 8 year old children. Huge house - great for groups - and has everything you need i.e. kitchen etc. Such welcoming hosts - loved the delicious cake and the bottle of wine on arrival! Brilliantly set up for kids and adults alike especially all the board games, books, dvd's and puzzles and lots of room to roam and explore outside. Close to Leeuwin and Voyager Estate Wineries and the Mammoth Cave. Can't wait to go back!
“Perfect for families and friends looking for a home with it all”
We had an amazing time. The straw house is a huge colourful and character filled home with everything you could want for a family. We had cots, high chairs, indoor and outdoor toys for the littlies, a cosy fire with lots of dry firewood for the adults, and lots of games for everyone. We enjoyed the stream with the frogs, and most of all enjoyed the evenings around the table with good food, wine, a cosy fire, and lots to keep us busy. There is ample privacy and space. We were 3 families and felt like we had loads of room indoors and out. The complimentary cake and wine were a lovely touch. If you are looking for a large place to chill out, and relax and keep the kids busy, this is it. Would recommend and would go there again for sure!
“Felt like a home”
I was overseeing a group of teenagers, girls and boys. The fact that there were 3 bathrooms made things a lot easier. Plenty of rooms and space for people to find their own space if they need to. Nice big kitchen and massive dining table suitable for having everyone dine together. Very peaceful surrounds and very helpful caretakers.
I spent my 60th Birthday with my family at the Straw House. We loved it, so cozy and quaint. The location was perfect, felt like we were in the middle of the bush. Would highly recommend staying there.
“Oasis amongst the bush”
Our extended family ( 11 adults and 3 kids)stayed at the Straw House in January 2011 and found it to be the perfect house for all of us. We all had our own bedroom and having 3 bathrooms was a huge bonus! We loved the loft and enjoyed our family movie night up there. The Strawhouse was very well equipped with everything we needed and especially catered for small children with high chairs, cots, toys, safety gate and single beds. We also liked the book and dvd collection, the huge dining table and ping pong table. We look forward to staying again. Carolyn and Mark were excellent hosts and communication leading up to our stay was very positive and prompt.
“Fantastic holiday home”
We had a ball staying at the straw house. The caretakers were wonderful and we were greeted with a beautiful cake and bottle of wine which all of our guests enjoyed very much. The house was beautifully presented and we all had a wonderful holiday.
“happy place to stay and come together.”
we like the straw house so much we have been back twice its a great place for our family to meet up and enjoy our time together. Every thing you could possible expect for your stay is there including a lovely cake on arrival. We could not fault anything we love the place
“My favourite place :-)”
Have now stayed at the Straw House about five times and have loved every visit. Perfect for a weekend relax if you like to be out of the hustle of town but only a short drive if you want to pop in. We have always struggled to find accommodation that allows dogs but now we need look no further! Perfect for large groups of friends or families. The owners are smashing! Catching up with them is always a pleasure. Beware the chocolate cake that's always in the kitchen... you'll be addicted!
