“Beautiful house, wonderful Sayulita experience!”
Casa Quetzal was such a great place to stay for our first time in Sayulita. Our small group of four women shared this amazing house and loved every minute. From the moment we got into town, we were greeted by the groundskeeper Frederico who escorted us up to the house. Although we were given very detailed directions (with pictures of every turn!) we were personally guided through Sayulita's busy streets during our evening arrival which was, in my opinion, above and beyond what was expected! The house itself if beautiful, with open airflow in all areas, lots of light, and a very cool layout (multiple floors made it feel like a mansion). The roof was my personal favorite; a great place to take a nap or read in one of the hammocks and our nightly gathering place for rooftop yoga under the stars. The pool is small and not heated so if you like to swim laps it may not be for you but for the four of us it was just perfect. Great dipping pool for cooling off after a day of exploring town and surrounding areas. The garden is also a very nice addition. The house is not located in the main part of town so it is quiet, save for the sound of the ocean, which we enjoyed. The walk to town and the beach only takes about 10 minutes but the hill coming back is very steep. We enjoyed the little workout we got each time but if you are out of shape or traveling with children or elderly people I'd recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get up the hill. We had a car but it stayed parked in the driveway pretty much the whole time. It seemed silly to drive when it really is so close to town, but that hill made my calves burn more than once so it's something to consider. By no means a deal-braker for us! I speak decent Spanish so communication between the housekeeper and groundskeeper was never a problem. The pool was cleaned a few times during our stay, the water jugs were always refilled and our bedrooms were kept very nice. We even had Chole cook us dinner at the house one night (a highlight of the trip) which was lovely. Even if you don't speak Spanish, don't shy away from this place-it's easy to get along with a minimal understanding of the language. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better house. Whale-watching from the porch, the outdoor showers, comfy beds, homey-kitchen…it was exactly what we needed! We are planning a trip back to Sayulita this winter and I hope we will be staying at Casa Quetzal again!

“A most pleasant & peaceful experience which I & my partner inten”
Frederico & Chloe, the house staff, were friendly & solicitous of our needs. The house was a pleasure and was well-kept. The view & the garden are stunning. Ms. Baskerville was kind and professional.
“Charming house - breathtaking views!”
I stayed at Casa Quetzal and had a magnificent time there, very close to the pitoresque and charming village of Sayulita. The house itself was a treat to live in. Authentic ambiance. Decorated in a simple, but charming way. Neither too many things, nor too few. There is everything you need. I especially enjoyed the charming kitchen. In general lots and lots of light coming in through the many windows of the whole house. Great pool and pool area! Incredible relaxing place to watch time go by, in between trips to the beach or horseback riding along the Pacific Coast. My most favorite place was the roof terrace. The view is amazing! You wont find a better spot to watch the sun set. Service was good, everything in order and exactly as agreed. The hostess Patrice Maria Baskerville is very professional and kind. The house was clean and well kept. Casa Quetzal has my most sincere recommendations. I would enjoy to return one day.
I am a little bit surprised by Lynne's comment about Casa Quetzal as I find it far from the truth. I have been at this house two times with my two daughter, the last one September 2012. Each time we really enjoyed our stay. Even though we do not speak the language, the care taker was a wonderful guy who attended to all our needs and added to our enjoyable stay. I know the road is a little bit hilly but not that much difficult to enjoy a slow walk as it is not far from the town and once you arrive at Casa Quetzal the fresh breeze and the tranquil and peaceful environment is priceless and more than compensates. Not to mention the beautiful sunset. we have plans to go back this year. Peter Williams

“Best Mexico Vacation Ever!”
The house was absolutely amazing! The house is located on the hillside, so the view was absolutely breath-taking. When we woke up we were greeted to a 180 degree view of the sky-blue ocean, a gentle breeze, and the sound of the rolling waves. The upstairs area with the living room and kitchen have floor-to-ceiling windowed doors that open to further bring the views and breeze into the house while we enjoyed reading and preparing delicious Mexican meals. The house itself is gorgeous 3-stories, furnished with everything we could ask for during our stay, and even has a rooftop patio with hammocks and our own pool right outside our bedroom doors! The house is a short walk down to the beach and the rest of the Sayulita town, filled with great people, cute shops, and good restaurants/cafes. Overall, our trip was honestly the best vacation we've ever had!
Response from the owner Thank you, Lindsay! Everyone at the house enjoyed you, too. Thanks for the generous tips. I hope you and your family will come back soon!
