“Peaceful beautiful stay”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2013

Just got back from a three day stay at Beetch house over the Christmas holiday. I found the bed luxurious and comfortable, and slept well all three nights. It's a beautiful location with vistas from the upstairs windows and a cozy homey feel. The aesthetic is authentic and creative. I loved the upstairs loft and wrote and read peacefully up there. There were 3 of us -- my husband, teenage son and myself and this hand-crafted straw bale home was just the right size, and the layout worked really well too. Kai was friendly and welcoming and made sure we were settled in, even on Christmas day. We found everything we could need was thoughtfully provided -- from alarm clocks, flashlight, kitchenware to extra blankets, books and magazines. Made some great meals in the kitchen, everything was clean, equipped and easy to use. Even in cold winter temperatures, the wood-burning stove kept us warm and cozy. All in all -- a lovely and peaceful location and experience.

Response from the owner Hi Judy, Thanks for writing a review! I have news about heat in The Beetch House. As of Feb. 2, 2014, there is electric ETS heat in the house. No more woodstove fire building in the winter, unless you really want to! Take care, Kai

“Great Place to Visit”

Reviewed 24 Mar 2013

Kai was a great host and made sure that there were vegetarian options for breakfast. The house was very clean and homey. The weekend I went to Crestone there was a snow storm but that didn't take away from the nice weekend get away. I was afraid that I wouldn't be warm with just the wood stove but it heated the house well and made for a great getaway for my boyfriend and I. There were plenty of games and movies and I loved being able to cook dinner for the two nights I stayed there.

Response from the owner Hello, This is an update for future guests. I put an electric ETS heater in the cabin and this keeps it very warm. Also, I am now only providing complementary coffee and tea in the cabin after food was going to waste due to people's special diets. Crestone has 2 grocery stores and 4 restaurants for your food needs. Thanks, Kai

“Deep Quietude”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2013

Kai's lovely, impeccably clean straw bale home is a great place to retreat to in Crestone. She is a wonderful host, and made sure that our vegetarian and gluten free breakfast needs were well accommodated. The house appears a bit more modern/upscale in the online photos as the decor is a bit of a hodgepodge. I would recommend it more for a family or group of people, rather than as a romantic getaway.

Response from the owner Dear JJ, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I take all reviewers' comments seriously and endeavor to continue to create a harmonious, warm, and inviting environment for my guests. Photo Note: All photos are current, with the exception of a new propane cookstove/oven in the kitchen as of 2012. Take care, Kai

“Quiet Simplicity from a Gracious Host”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2012

The Beetch House was the perfect place for our family of four. Traditional B&Bs; are wonderful for meeting people and getting some local flavor, but they are seldom family friendly. This house was everything we needed to get some downtime and have a base for exploring the trails and hot springs near Crestone. Kai is a wonderful host. She is a gentle and presence with plenty of information on the area and a well-stocked refrigerator. The house is equipped with cookware and basic herbs, spices, tea and coffee in addition to breakfast fixings. If you want a resort, this is not the place for you. If you want quiet and hospitality, this could be what you are looking for.

Response from the owner Hello, This is an update for future guests. I now provide only complementary coffee and tea in the cabin since food was going to waste due to people's special diets. Crestone has 2 grocery stores and 4 restaurants for your food needs. Thanks, Kai

“magical”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2012

We only stayed one night at the Beetch House but we ended up wishing we had planned to stay longer. The house itself is perfect--sweet, original, wonderfully designed, and delightfully decorated. It's more like a cabin than a traditional bed and breakfast. The location is amazing--perched on a mountain overlooking the valley, it feels remote in just the right way. And Kai is lovely. 4 of us--my husband and I, our 8-year old daughter, and my sister-in-law--were able to stay very comfortably. We felt at peace with the world there. We will be back!

“Great Place to Relax”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2012

Just what we needed . . a great place to relax and enjoy the view of the mountains or the valley. Crestone is located very near the Vajra Vidya Retreat Center and between the Sand Dunes National Park and the Bountiful Springs Spa and mineral baths. Ohhh Yesss!!! The owner is thoughtful, gracious and caring. The Beetch House was neat, clean, well-stocked, in good order and complete with maps, directories, games, TV, radio, DVD player, washer & dryer. I wish we had more time to stay, to relax, to unwind and decompress.

“Lovely, peaceful home”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2012

My family and I stayed at The Beetch House for one night in July and were impressed with how well this house was equipped and what a welcoming host Kai was. The refrigerator was well stocked for breakfast, the beds comfortable and the kitchen ready for those who like to cook. Kai returned all our emails promptly and was a pleasure to work with during the booking process. Crestone is quiet and peaceful and sitting out on the porch was a pleasure. The location is perfect for those wanting to visit the sand Dunes, as we did, or anyone wanting some peace and quiet and/or to climb the big peaks. I look forward to going by myself for a retreat and I know my family and I will return. thank you!

“The home was excellent: peaceful, quiet, relaxing with a very ho”

Reviewed 22 Jun 2012

My wife and I celebrated her birthday with Kai enjoying a dichotomy of romantic solitude and a community music fest. The Beetch House had all the amenities that were promised plus extras. It was clean, well-organized, and comfortable. The host went out of her way to provide information about the local community, directions, trails, etc. Upon the end of our stay we had a wonderful, friendly discussion with her. You will enjoy your stay at the Beetch House!

“Just a great place for a personal retreat in an ideal location!”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2012

Kai Beetch personally is a terrific and gracious hostess... also she pays great attention to cleanliness and upkeep and meeting any needs the guest may have relative to the rental agreement; this is sensitively balanced with maintaining privacy. The cabin is well appointed with amenities( eg shower/bath, stove and frig,TV, WiFi, etc), yet carries an earthy, rustic and natural ambience. It is close to Crestone downtown as well as the many spiritually based sites of interest. It is very easy to find. Beautiful views from 2nd floor bedroom. Priced quite reasonably.

“Peaceful and comfortable to the point of healing.”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2012

Kai is extremely pleasant and accommodating and models the Beetch House around these qualities. The several times I've been fortunate enough to stay, all of my needs were amply met; a very clean atmosphere, abundant firewood and a kitchen stocked with breakfast items that I requested. The house itself is cozy, private and very comfortable...it feels like home. Nestled just beneath the majestic Crestone peaks, one feels enfolded in the serene power of these mountains. Combine this with the sunsets visible from the West-facing outdoor deck and the night sky filled with stars and you've got a little piece of Heaven on Earth. All of these gifts, plus the short distance from the many Spiritual Centers and the quaint town of Crestone will keep me coming back to the Beetch House again and again.
