“What a Gem”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2013

Having never been to Turkey before we weren't quite sure what to expect, however I can honestly say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Guzel. The Villa was everything we could have hoped for and more and everyone was very friendly. Being downhill most of the way the walk into Kalkan every evening was pleasant enough, but the walk back took some doing especially up the steep hill. The only downside I would say are the number of dogs who seem to roam around and bark at anything that moves and has an engine! Other than that we all had a smashing time and would recommend it to anybody.

Response from the owner Thank you for your Review and that " you found the villa was everything you could have hoped for ". Often guests say they expected it to be nice but was better than expected.

“A fantastic Turkish Villa, and a fantastic Turkish coast town”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2012

From bookinging thru to deposit return Len and his team were extremely helpful and efficient, making our holiday one of the most memorable and enjoyable for a long time. Len's villa admirably lives up to its name 'beautiful', and the town of Kalkan is delightful and it's people welcoming and friendly. Villa Guzel is located on the hillside behind the main town and is approximately 10 to 15 minutes walk downhill from the harbour front and old part of the town. The hillside is steep so would recommend taking one of the plentiful and inexpensive taxis for the return journey. There are a myriad of interesting shops and restaurants - we tried a variety of these at a range of prices and were never disappointed with the either the food or the hospitality. The villa is tastefully decorated, well laid out and comfortable, with all you need. Its pool and outdoor areas made lounging around and relaxing under the hot Turkish sun a dream with large parasols and shady areas. The absolute best feature of the villa is the pool; the thing to watch out for is the unmade roads, they can be a challenge. Although, we've said we'd recommend this villa to our friends - we're sorely tempted to keep this treasure a secret!

Response from the owner Thank you for your Review. We try to assist to ensure you enjoy your holiday.

“Perfect Vacation Rental”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2012

I have rented properties in Cesme and Bodrum - but never in Kalkan. We loved the area and there was so much to do. The property exceeded my expectations - especially the pool area. The proximity to the town was close - about a five minute drive. The property felt private, although there were other properties around the area. I had a lovely large bedroom with a beautiful terrace. In the morning I would make myself a cup of coffee and sit out there - before it would get too hot. Two ladies came everyday to clean the house - what a luxury. All the bedrooms had their own bathroom. We rented the house with another family - so having your own bathroom was important. The bedrooms felt like suites. This was definitely the prettiest villa I ever rented in Turkey. Kalkan is a great place to vacation. There was so much to do. We went sailing twice - at a very reasonable price. The restaurants are great and the shopkeepers are lovely. I can't say enough about our vacation there - we definitely had one of the best times in turkey and we would go back to Kalkan for sure. Thanks for making your home so comfortable and inviting.

Response from the owner Thank you for your Review we hope to hear from you in the future.

“Great holiday at Villa Guzel”

Reviewed 12 Dec 2011

This was our first experience of booking a villa direct from the owners & we found anne & Len very helpful & truthful in answering our questions, which made us feel confident in our decision in booking Villa Guzel.. Not having been to Turkey before we enjoyed the transfer journey from the airport to the villa. Such a beautiful villa, even better than the vision & expectations we had from the photos. .A fantastic location with wonderful views over Kalkan and only a short walk to the town. The villa was very spacious & comfortable and well designed , with all the amenities you would expect & the maids who came in daily keep the villa very clean & were very friendly. The pool is a great shape & a very good size for swimming and the kids enjoyed sitting & playing on the stepping area. We loved eating our meals under the pergola & sitting in the shaded seating & BBQ area. The main bedroom has a huge balcony & another BBQ which we used a few evenings & seeing Kalkan all lit up at night was quite spectacular.. We were surprised how friendly & nice the Turkish people are & we enjoyed shopping in the small interesting shops which sold quality goods.. Nearly all the roof top restaurants have views over the harbour and the food was wonderful and as good as any French restaurant. The harbour side restaurants are a little more expensive, as you would expect but well worth it & the Turkish wine surprisingly good. We hired a car for a few days & well worth the visit to Saklikent Gorge , the beautiful coast road to Kas & the historic site & beach of Patara , but all of these you can visit by Dolmus ( local bus ) or by mini tour bus. . The Villa Guest Welcome Book we found very useful also the Guest Book & we must take a Boat trip next year. Yes we will be going back to Villa Guzel, where else could we possibly stay .

Response from the owner Thank you Mark & Julie for writing such a nice review. If & I hope you decide to go to Villa Guzel next year. See the Guest Book the Sunset & Muddyman boats are very popular.

“Wonderful!”

Reviewed 12 Nov 2011

Villa Guzel is absolutely stunning, the photos on the website do not do the villa justice. We were a group of three couples and found the design perfect, the spiral staircase separating the bedrooms and providing discreet privacy. We particularly liked the cream stone walls and marble flooring and the large lounge and bedrooms which are delightful and tastefully furnished. The views from the villa over Kalkan are beautiful and sitting on the main balcony enjoying either a tipple prior to going out for a meal (or using the bbq), watching the sunset and when dark seeing Kalkan all lit up was magical. The villa must have one of the largest of pools, large steps provide seating in the water, but the pool is one depth which apparently is the norm in Kalkan which was fine by us, but for small children and non swimmers might prove a problem. The pool was cleaned daily by Murhettin, he even washed down the terrace after watering the garden. Your newly planted banana and peach trees are doing fine and when we come next year, which we certainly will (a common view expressed in your visitors book) we hope to pick the fruit. We found Hakan, your agent, discreetly kept an eye on things, saying he was only a phone call away, which proved the case when we needed him. We have been to Kalkan before, our friends hadn't, they thought the locals, restaurants, food, village shops, everything, absolutely wonderful. We read the Villa Guzel guide and the visitors book for valuable information. Lastly, I have to mention Len, you are a star, you were so helpful (and professional) with our email and phone enquiries. The information you gave us was so useful. Thank you on behalf of us all.

Response from the owner Thank you for such a nice review & to be called a Star, well that is a first..
