“Delightful place to stay in alaska”
These cabins are near, but not on the Kenai river. It is very private and quiet. The cabins are also near a small municipal airport for sightseeing tours. Our cabin was small, but comfortable for two people. We saw moose during our visit and of course, lot of squirrels. For persons seeking a central place to view the Kenai peninsula, this is the place. The owners are wonderful too.
“A Great Place To Stay”
Having stayed in a lot of lodging in alaska Soldotna area in the past 15 years I would have to say that a cabin by the pond was the most comfortable.Alaska is a great place to visit fish and explore. To enjoy the true alaska experience you need to pace yourself. You will need a week minimum. If you are a keen fisherman by all means do a one day king, halibut and a fly out silver and that's it.Take a break between days because it will exhaust you.Check the tides for clamming great fun day out.Fish from the beach on Whiskey Gulch and anchor point only one hour south from Soldotna.Use herring and salmon belly for bait you would be surprised what you can catch. Best public fishing areas I would have to say head back over the bridge and up towards Murphys lane.(Go a little above that to the public area)Nice quite spot up there great silver red and monster rainbow(on salmon eges)Great Silver fishing down at Cunningham Park(need a good 5-6oz weight to hold you in the current)If you want to catch fish in alaska in the public areas. Be on the water at 6.30am and you will be done by 9.00am or 9.00 pm to 12.00 midnight and have a sleep in the morning.Hey its your vacation but from 9am to 9pm things can get a little too busy on the river for me.Thats why I will head south for beach fishing or north on the Russian River or a day trip to Seward or Homer. Flight discounts probably the best deal is with alaska airlines.Get the visa signature card and a partner can fly for $100.Split the cost hey for under $500 your in business.Car rental.I use aBC motor homes 3 mins from anchorage airport. They pick you up and a lot cheaper than airport prices. Before you go check out the "Alaska Outdoor Journal" website for real time up dates on fishing updates regulations..But above all if you stay at "A Cabin By the Pond" you are right in the middle of it all.Great place to stay highly recommend it. Have fun all the best Murph
“5 Star all the way...”
Once you stay here, you'll never want to stay anywhere else. Very comfortable, clean, cozy cabins. Our cabin was decorated with attention to every detail, as was the main house and little chapel on site.. We loved the living water pond which could be heard throughout the property. A sound that drew friendly campfires, lots of wildlife, and provided a perfect relaxing atmosphere. We are looking forward to our next visit. My rating for this property is an absolute five star rating... :)
“A exceptionally clean modern cabin in a beautiful setting”
We came to fish but we had to act like we were home because it would be a sin to drag fishing gear and such thru a beautiful cabin. We found the appliances to be perfect, as well as our beds and the shower. Some of my in-laws never saw a bathroom as clean and neat as we had. My son and I will definitely be back in a year or two.
“Great cabins with fantastic hosts”
The cabins are nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. The service could not be better and we really enjoyed the evening campfires. The Sagersers are great hosts who did all they could to make our stay an unforgettable experience. The drive from anchorage through the mountains to Soldotna is well worth the extra time.
“Alaska vacation of a lifetime!!”
When opportunity arises and you are able to go to alaska a must is to stay at a Cabin By the Pond! Outstanding accommodations and such a peaceful relaxing enjoyable stay. We were fortunate enough to book one of the cabins for a week and what a treasure that was! We had all the comforts of home with the availability to cook if we wanted, nice hot showers, and exquisite bedding. So much fun at night sitting around a fire visiting with other people or just enjoying a walk through the woods. Mr. Sagerser was so accomodating and made our stay so enjoyable. I definately would recommond a stay at Cabin By the Pond for a lasting and memorable alaskan vacation!
