“No other way to see Normandy than with the Trumbles”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2014

My husband and I visited here in early March on the recommendation of friends. We stayed three nights in the Trumbles' lovely home and were treated to a truly unique and wonderful experience. During the day, Ben, our host and guide, took us on a personal tour of american battlefields and beaches. As the prior reviews indicate, Ben's expertise in this area is remarkable, and we thoroughly enjoyed his passion and knowledge. At night, we were treated to Jaye's wonderful and generous dinners, delightful conversation, and a roaring fire. Honestly, we cannot say enough nice things about this visit and this lovely couple. You must go and see for yourself!

“winning the lottery”

Reviewed 5 Nov 2013

So I took a chance and booked a two day tour over the internet for myself and my sons (two college grad history majors) with Ben Trumble. I might as well have won the lottery. I would now suggest three things to anyone considering a Normandy tour: 1) Don't try to do it in less than two days (we wished we did three). 2) Get Ben Trumble (D-Day tours) as your guide. 3) Enjoy the charm, hospitality and great cooking from Jaye at the Manoir. We can't wait to go back... Denis O (NY)

“Best trip ever!”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2013

My wife and I recently spent 13 nights in France, 3 of which were spent with Ben, Jaye and Saffron. Those 3 nights were the best part of the trip and the best 3 days of any vacation we've ever taken. Ben's knowledge of D Day events - preparation and implementation - are outstanding. His approach - first focusing on the 82nd and 101st airborne landings and then taking you to Utah Beach (Day 1) and to the inland areas / gun batteries / Pont du Hoc before ending on Omaha Beach (Day 2) - to help us learn and understand more was well thought out and delivered. His use of old photos and personalization of events made the experience totally real. And then at the conclusion of each day we were treated to Jaye's hospitality / fine cooking and made to feel like part of the family! We cannot say enough about the time spent with Ben, Jaye and Saffron and we hope to make a return trip. We will be encouraging our family and friends to visit Ben and Jaye. We highly recommend spending time at Manoir de Founcroup.

“The best trip ever!”

We stayed three nights and two full days with Ben and his wife Jaye. We could have moved in, that's how at home we felt. Their home is beautiful, the food is fabulous, and the conversation sparkling. Ben is extraordinarily knowledgeable. It's as if he knew the gallant D-Day invaders personally. By the end of his tour, you feel as if you knew them personally as well. Ben and Jaye are witty and utterly charming. You feel like you've known them forever. This was by far the trip we have ever taken.

“Everything exceeded our expectations!”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2013

Our family of five adults spent three nights with Ben and Jaye, during our two-week vacation. The time spent with them was the highlight of our vacation! Their home was very comfortable, Jaye's meals were delicious, and the aperitifs were very tasty! The tours of Omaha and Utah Beaches conducted by Ben were very informative and exceeded all of our expectations. Highly recommended!!

“Outstanding and Phenomenal Tour”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2013

Ben, Jaye and Safron welcomed us into their beautiful and inviting manor in a picturesque setting. Ben is able to bring history to life with his personalized, yet authentic depiction of the Normandy invasion. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter. After returning from an educational and sometimes emotional day of touring, Ben offers an enjoyable "Wine-O-Clock" hour on the patio in the early evening sun. After relaxing from the day, we enjoyed a delicious gourmet meal prepared by Jaye. This was clearly some of the best evening meals we ate during our two weeks in Europe. This tour is a must while visiting France. Ben and Jaye will have you feeling like old friends when you leave. I wish I could give it 10 stars on this 5 star rating. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

“Fantastic - Fun and Educational”

Reviewed 14 Aug 2013

We had a marvelous time staying at the Manor and touring Normandy. The food and hospitality were top notch and we saw everything we wanted to see on out two full days of touring. Ben was tireless in taking us to the various sites and we enjoyed returning to the comfort of the house where we knew a great meal was waiting. Our children (10 and 14) learned more in two days than in a semester of school and history "came alive" as we walked in the footsteps of the soldiers and civilians who experienced D-Day. Highly recommended. David, Anne, Laney and Lee

“The Trip of a Lifetime”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2013

My husband and I and our two teenagers started planning our June 2013 trip to Normandy and Paris in November 2012. We wanted a place to stay where we would not have to worry about meals, transportation or tours. We happened upon D Day Tours while doing a Google search. We are so thankful we did! The Manoir is beautiful and very comfortably furnished. Ben, Jaye and Safron seemed like old friends after the first meal we shared together. Jaye's cooking is awesome. I told her my husband and kids were very picky and she whipped up meals that suited everyone's needs and more. Her wonderful meals have inspired me to cook using more fresh, natural ingredients. My 17 yr old son and I are very much into history, so we were excited to learn more about Wwii and the Normandy invasion. After seeing all of the wonderful sites Ben took us to and hearing all he had to say, we all learned something in a very fun setting. Ben also helped us with our French and assured us the locals would like that we were trying to communicate in French. We carried this on to Paris and found that we got to practice our French a lot on our trip. We now consider Ben and Jaye great friends. They are very hospitable and down to earth people. Our whole family hopes that they will come visit us in Mechanicsville, Va. Don't hesitate about booking with D Day Tours. It will be the trip of a lifetime.

“Believe the reviews”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2013

The battlefields of Normandy are not easily traversed or understood. The history of this special place encompasses small bridges, living town squares, anonymous backroads, long beaches, spread across miles of countryside. There is no simple audio tour or tour book. Ben transforms a visit to these sacred grounds into an extraordinary memory through the finely rendered details of small stories he tells, his deep knowledge of the big picture, and his personal devotion to the soldier's whose stories he follows. It is remarkable to stand in a spot and have Ben open his book of photos and see that same spot in June 1944. The three days you spend with he and Jaye in their home, enjoying their good and great humor, eating Jaye's gourmet cooking, is like having close friends in the country who open their home (a Norman manor house) to you. We cannot imagine a better way of experiencing this hallowed ground. You will remember this visit the rest of your life and you will recommend them to your friends. The reviews are not hype.

“Warmly hospitable”

We started our European trip staying with Ben and Jaye and Saffron. We would do it again without hesitation and are yet to have a similarly lovely experience (nearly to Rome as this is written). Keep it up guys - we are coming back!
