“Comfy cozy cottage with breathtaking view”
The cottage is located in such a serene and peaceful setting. It is so well appointed that one did have to ask or want for anything. Rebecca is an informative and thoughtful hostess and her breads are delightfully delicious. This cottage is a perfect getaway...great for relieving stress and wonderful for meditation.moreover, it is so comfortable that it's nice to stay in and breathe in the ambiance, not forgetting the amazing outdoor shower!
Response from the owner Hello Richard! Thanks for the positive feedback on our island hideaway. You seemed very content and relaxed while in residence. Do hope to see you again sometime soon. Best regards, Becca & Michael
“perfect caribbean retreat”
We enjoyed our first stay at Belair Garden Cottage in March/April 2015 and it definitely won't be our last. We have been traveling to Grenada and Carriacou for many years and have finally found our perfect vacation hideaway, it exceeded our expectations in every way. The cottage is lovely and has everything a guest might need, our favorite things were the gorgeous tropical gardens, the amazing outdoor shower, the cool sea breeze and, most of all, the deck overlooking a view of the Grenadines that simply must be experienced to be believed. As much as we enjoyed heading out on our daily excursions (more on that later), we couldn't wait to return to the cottage and simply hang out on the deck. Coffee, cocktails, reading...all on the deck, all the time. Plus, if you're out there you may be visited by Antonio and Harry, the semi-wild macaws that live on the island and sometimes stop by for snacks if they see you outside. It was really special to see these magnificent birds living in the wild. Becca and Michael were perfect hosts, their delicious homemade lunches and baked goods were such a treat, and they are available for anything you need. Carriacou is a relatively small island which makes it very easy to get around. We did not rent a car (maybe next year...) and got around fine by walking and hopping on buses. Walking to our destinations (Hillsborough, Anse la Roche, etc.) was easy since it was all downhill, we would then take a bus home to avoid the climb back up. Or we would walk partway and then grab a bus to places like Windward or Paradise Beach. For a first-time visitor to the island a car would probably be easier and more convenient, although riding buses with the locals is really fun. If you're looking for a beautiful, private cottage with the best view in the Caribbean on a quiet, friendly island, you can do no better than this. We can't wait to return.
Response from the owner Hi Andi & Brian ~ It‘s very rewarding for us to learn our guests truly enjoy what Carriacou has to offer as an off the beaten track get away. Glad that you found our cottage comfortable and that it met all your needs. Looking forward to seeing you again sometime. Becca
“WOW!!! What a great experience”
Becca and Michael's cottage is a dream vacation. With tropical gardens, wonderful hosts and a beautiful island - who could want more? Becca was extremely helpful in helping us to plan our jaunts around the island and to suggest places to shop and visit. The cottage was clean and comfortable with the highlights being the quiet and seclusion, beautiful views, iquana visiting in the tree and the outside shower. Cariacou is a beautiful island with friendly and helpful residents. I felt very safe hiking the many trails and roadways. There was easy bus access to anywhere on the island. The costs are reasonable and the food is excellent!!! I will definitely be back!!!
Response from the owner Thank you, Deb, for your positive feedback about your first time visiting Carriacou and staying at our cottage. We enjoy helping guests maximize their experience while visiting our island. Good to know you’ll be back to do more exploring. ~ Becca
After reading through all the wonderful reviews I thought I had a spot on expectation of what our vacation home to be would be....I was wrong! It was SO much more. Becca and Michael have created a perfect get away where you feel so remote, but yet you aren't. They are at the ready to point you in the right direction at every moment. The cabin is designed and equipped with everything you would hope for. Because we love to cook, we bought some spices and coffee from home, but other than that, it's there! We also brought our snorkel gear and that was well used! The cabin is nestled into a jungle hill for complete privacy with a spectacular view of the hills, coral reefs and islands in the distance. Mornings were spent drinking coffee and chilling on the deck with a lovely breeze. Nights were in the same spot but with jungle sounds, shooting stars and fireflies all around. Magical. We loved having a jeep to explore the island. Pack a lunch and snacks and off you go with snorkels in hand. Town is a few minute drive or taxi away and the local people couldn't be nicer and more curious to know about you. It's a safe, relaxed and rugged island ready to explore. We can't wait to return! Thank you, Becca, for making it the perfect few away! Marcia & Robert
Response from the owner Hi There! Thanks for taking the time to give us a review. It pleases Michael & me to know that our guests are so appreciative of our little tropical hide-away dream cottage. I was amazed at how much exploring you two did underwater, on the water & on the land AND how many local friends you made in one short week! Thanks again for making BGC your home away from home. Hope to see you again. ~ Becca
“Magical Caribbean island hideaway!”
This colorful and comfy cottage is nestled in the greenery of a small island of great charm. It is secluded and quiet yet easily accessible and equipped with all the modern conveniences. It is clean and bright and has an incredible view of the water and neighboring islands while not being seen by anyone! The hosts, Becca and Michael are very accommodating but not at all invasive. I hired a local taxi/van driver on a daily basis as a cheaper solution than a rental car and he turned out to be a great guide that met all my needs without imposing his agenda. The sights of the island are magical and the beaches quiet, safe and fabulous for swimming and relaxing. I highly recommend a getaway on Carriacou and nowhere better than at Belair Garden Cottage!
Response from the owner Hi Andrew! We are glad to know that our cottage suited you so well for your visit here. We are pleased that your connection with Dunstan the taxi driver turned out to be a good solution for your transport needs. Please do come back again and bring Carla with you! All the best, Becca & mMichael
“Totally fabulous in every way!”
This cottage is just amazing - from the incredible view to the continuous breezes keeping mosquitos at bay there are just too many wonderful things to list! You can see it looks great from the pictures but what you can't see are all the little touches - the pots and pans are high quality, the bottled rain water to drink, the presence of a compost bucket, the plentiful towels...the owners have really thought it all through. You will need a car to get the most from your stay but it is just a few minutes drive from town and that gives you the peace and seclusion you are looking for. We highly recommend buying the days catch from the co-op fish market in Hillsborough and stopping in next door to buy veggies before you head back to cook and enjoy your little slice of paradise. Thank you for a fabulous stay!
Response from the owner Hi There Lali & Ian, Nice to know our cottage met your expectations for a private, quiet get away! See you again next time around. Cheers, Becca & Michael
“Tropical relaxation location like nowhere I have been.”
Travel to Carriacou is a two-day affair: fly in to Grenada one day and then boat or fly to Carriacou the next morning. I really like roller coasters so the flight out was fun; the Osprey ferry on the way back, was the fastest I have been on. The plane was 45 minutes (included a stop in Bequia) -- the Osprey about 1.5 hours. Carriacou is a dreamy, small island with delightful eateries. The beaches are amazing with beautiful sand and ocean water. One day, we hiked to a beach about mid-morning. There was no one there but a family of iguana which was vacating at the sound of our approach. NO ONE THERE?!? Amazing!! The snorkeling is so much fun -- ogling the life below the water line. The cabin and hosts are pleasantly atypical of your average rental. Becca's artistic touch is present everywhere and the whole experience on the senses is other-worldly. The cabin is situated on a hillside such that you walk out on the back porch to overlook hills running out to the sea. Michael is a wizard of sorts which means WiFi in the cabin works really well (if you just HAVE to stay connected). Becca & Michael are really fun to talk to and any time spent at their place next door is a bonus; Becca's preparations of locally grown produce (and fruit on the grounds) are sumptuous. Their attention to detail and beauty is a delight. Green enthusiasts get a close-up look at how to live mostly (if not entirely) off the grid. Michael has done a bang-up job of both harvesting and storing the constant breeze coming up the hill (with a classic, vintage wind-mill), and managing electricity distribution throughout the property. All water is collected rain and the perfect hot showers are solar. This place is a Green poster-child and a worthy stop for any aficionados. I can't say enough about the lovely cabin but note that, even though it's on here as a 1 bedroom -- there is also a large loft. My time in Carriacou was magic and I can't wait to go back!
Response from the owner Hey Pete! It was fun having you here as a cottage guest! Michael & I love hearing about the impressions of visitors especially during their first trip to Carriacou. Coming from a land locked mid western state, your appreciation for the tropical ocean and all its underwater beauty makes it even MORE special! Hopefully your next visit will be a little longer so you can take in more sites around the island as 4 days is just not enough to soak it all up! Ciao, Becca & Michael
“A slice of heaven for our anniversary.”
Belair Gardens Cottage provided everything we needed for our vacation. The owners, Becca and Michael, assisted our planning by answering our questions and even made car arrangements for us. We chose Belair Gardens Cottage for many reasons; simplicity being at the top of the list, location and cell phone. In the end you add up all the small details that make for a better vacation. Beaches are as close by as 15 minutes away and everything is easy to get to in Carriacou. We made the right choice. Belair Gardens Cottage is located on one of the highest hillsides in Carriacou, overlooking Petite St.Vincent and Petite Martinique. Very picturesque. The garden property is laid out and maintained with such care and attention. It’s a pleasure to watch it come to life in the morning. Sunrises from the main deck, are just gorgeous. The cottage is fully equipped so you don’t have to go out for meals, mind you, Becca offers a fabulous array of goodies if you’re not up to cooking or going out, you just have to let her know ahead. When we did feel like going out, fine restaurants were a treat in Tyrell Bay for drinks or dinner. We returned with many memories from our trip and hope to have the opportunity to return.
Response from the owner Hi There Tom & Mary! Thanks for your kind words describing your experience at our cottage and your first visit to Carriacou. Loved the photos you captured of Antonio on the wing and of that sunrise over Petite Martinique. Hope to see you again this summer on your turf, Montreal! All the best, Becca & Michael
“The best stay”
Louise and I stayed at Belair Cottage recently and were greeted at the airport and driven over to the Cottage. The views across the island from the cottage are beautiful and we felt like we had really found a hidden gem. The cottage is in a great location for exploring the island and you can catch great sunsets in Belair. The cottage is fitted with everything you need for self catering but if you don't feel like it Michael and Becca can provide lunches which sounded great, but unfortunately we didn't try ; there is always next time. We had a great time in Carriacou and loved our stay in the cottage and I am sure we will be back again!
Response from the owner Hey Azam & Louise, Always good to hear from folks who have enjoyed their stay at our cottage while exploring Carriacou! Sounds like the motor scooter rental was a good way for you to get around to all the beaches easily. Thanks for choosing Belair Garden Cottage for your base! Hope to see you again in the near future. Bye, Becca & Michael
It is hard to describe just how magnificent the views are from the cottage with words or pictures... but magnificent dose pretty a good job. The cottages is nested in an unbelievable setting of fruit trees, flowers and tropical plants which makes you feel like you are in your own private paradise with a view out every window. The cottage itself was set up wonderfully. Very comfortable furnishing and all the amenities I needed, and nothing I didn't. The hosts, Becca and Michael, are absolutely wonderful people who made me feel right at home and were extremely helpful in getting accustomed to life in carriacou. This is a place I would recommend to anyone looking for a private get away and will definitely be returning to myself!
Response from the owner Hi Patrick, We enjoyed having a fellow New Englander at our cottage! So glad that Carriacou was the first island you’ve been to in the Caribbean; now you’re hooked! Looking forward to seeing your mom down here to create paintings of the flowers in the cottage garden. All the best in your new adventure in Montana! Cheers, Becca & Michael
