“Excellent location in an amazing area.”

Reviewed 5 May 2014

My dad and I have stayed at the Meadowood Cabin several times, and I enjoy it more each visit. It is nestled in a perfect location. We are typically there in November and great hunting begins right outside the door. It is also a short drive to the town of Rangeley if we want an early morning breakfast or evening dinner. The cabin is cozy and maintains a rustic feel. It is the type of environment where we spend more time reading and talking than watching television, which for me is priceless. I have been visiting the Rangeley area since I was 16 (almost 30-years) and it is worth the drive! The lakes (Rangeley and Mooselookmeguntic) provide incredible fishing, while the mountains bring great hiking and exploring. We have caught our share of trout and salmon while seeing bald eagles, moose, deer and bear. I highly recommend coming into the area on Route 17 to catch the most spectacular views. The owners of the Meadowood Cabin are also extremely friendly and accommodating. There's always a fresh supply of firewood waiting and the cabin is always clean. And, if you like to cook your meals as we do everything you need is right there. I hope you enjoy your visits to Rangeley as much as we do and I certainly recommend staying at the Meadowood Cabin.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for staying with your dad. We look forward to seeing you again this November and hope you enjoy the recent upgrades we just finished at Meadowood.

“Great guide and camp setup”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2014

although the camp is not on the water it has a large field and the lake is a short walk accross the street. Supper guide, great boat and quality gear. Camp very well stocked with all cooking needs. Will be back many times. Jan Franklin Wrentham ma

Response from the owner Jan- Thank you so much for taking the time to review Meadowood cabin. I'm excited to tell you that we are remodeling the kitchen at the moment so hopefully it will be even better on your next trip!

“great area”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2014

the grounds and the Rangeley area are a fantastic place to be the one area of concern is lack of any storage for clothes and what not it is very hard for a family to stay for two weeks without even one closet or chest to store clothes in was not expecting to live out of suitcases for two weeks

Response from the owner I'm so thankful for your review because we don't often have two-week clients and thanks to you, I now know I need to add a dresser to the cabin. Most week-long clients us the hooks and shelves but now they will not have to. Again, thank you for both staying at Meadowood Cabin and for taking the time to review the cabin. Both are most appreciated!

“Small Economical Primative Cabin”

Reviewed 30 Mar 2014

A very small but cozy cabin. Old construction, and exposed plumbing pipes. Would not recommend for a family with small children, but this place would make a fine place for a group of guys hunting or fishing. On our first day there we saw a deer on the front lawn. . About a 10 minute drive to downtown Rangeley.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review! I had to reply because you write an interesting perspective we hadn't heard before. You see, during our remodel of the downstairs of the cabin, we went to great effort to preserve the period authenticity of the cabin, which my husband was born in, by having the wood custom- milled to match the original, as well as going to great effort to keep the copper plumbing exposed. I honestly never thought of it as a negative so appreciate your input. This spring we are remodeling the kitchen to more closely resemble the period in which the cabin was built, and will do the same with the loft in the future. Again I want to thank you so much for taking the time to write and thank you for staying at Meadowood Cabin.

“Beautiful!!! Cozy clean and relaxing getaway!!!”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2013

My husband and I have been going to Rangeley for several years hiking, biking, kayaking and snowmobiling we found it a very relaxing cozy place to be. If you are looking for a place where you can truly unwind and enjoy the mountains, lakes and wildlife you have found the right place. The first time we stayed at Meadowwood we were taken back with the hospitality from Beth and Shaun they truly have everything a family could need while away from home. We look forward to staying at Meadowood each and every time we go to Rangeley. There is nothing like coming back from a long day lighting the woodstove and relaxing with our Black Lab (Tessie). Every time we are driving out of the driveway I can't wait until the next time we come back to Meadowood!!! You will not believe all the wildlife you will see right from the deck...

Response from the owner Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review of Meadowood Cabin. It warms our heart to read such kind words and that you find the cabin family-friendly. So glad you have a place to unwind and enjoy the beauty that surrounds the cabin, and of course, that Tessie is happy there, too. :)

“A very nice place to spend a week”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2013

Four of us stayed here for a family reunion. It was convenient to where family members were staying making it easy for us to visit back and forth during the week. We watched for wildlife and saw a couple of deer in the field but no moose. Maybe next time. . .

Response from the owner Nancy thank you for taking the time to review Meadowood Cabin and hopefully next time you will see a moose! Beth

“Home away From Home”

Reviewed 21 Jan 2013

I have stayed at Meadowood a few different times while on fall moose hunts and it was a great accomodation. Nothing beats coming inside after a long day in the woods and cranking on the woodstove. The cabin is large enough to sleep at least comfortably and probably could get a few more guys in there if we wanted, (We are big boys.) Loved it! I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Rangeley area.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for your review. Fall is a beautiful time in Rangeley and you are so right- it is so nice to come back to a nice warm fire in the wood stove!

“Great location and value for a Rangeley getaway”

Reviewed 18 Dec 2012

We stayed here with the intention of skiing a few days at Saddleback Mountain Ski Resort. The cabin was a perfect fit for the 6 of us, with a wood-burning stove, plenty of bedding, couches and tables. The driveway was plowed for us after we got dumped on and it was a great stay. In addition, we were right down the road from the snowmobile trails that go all around Rangeley and as far north as Canda! We hope to return again this winter. Highly recommended!

Response from the owner Thank you so much for taking the time to review Meadowood Cabin! I am so glad you found everything you needed was provided and that you enjoyed your stay at Meadowood. You really said it best about the location- close to the trails, and not too far from Saddleback.

“A Wonderful Getaway”

Reviewed 1 Dec 2012

I have stayed at Meadowood many times over the years. The cabin is spacious and always immaculately clean. There is a heater which can keep it quite warm, but in the fall and winter I prefer to have a fire in the woodstove, which has a glass door so that you can enjoy the flames. Shaun keeps well-seasoned wood stacked up and accessible so that it is easy to stay snug and toasty. The cabin has everything you need for a delightful escape from your daily grind. The Rangeley Lakes region is famous for its pristine beauty, with a deep and long crystalline lake, rushing streams, a rustic State Park, and encircling mountains. Although Rangeley is a favorite vacation and escape location, it is not overrun with tourists at any time of the year. The population of the region increases at certain times of the winter and the summer due to the attractions of the Maine countryside, but you will never feel as though Rangeley is uncomfortably crowded. If you are a skiier Saddleback Mountain is quite close and Sugarloaf is nearby as well. If you like to work out there is a great Fitness Center on your way into town. There are moose throughout the area and if you want to see one the locals can tell you where to look. There are great restaurants and a well stocked grocery store. The library has internet services and a good assortment of books and videos. The mountains give one plenty of opportunity to hike, snowshoe, and cross country ski (these are the things which I enjoy the most). I am always able to find the solitude which I yearn for when I go to Meadowood. After a few days of breathing the mountain air, hiking in the hills, drinking in the scenery, seeing the amazing Rangeley night sky, watching the flames, listening to the fire crackle, and having time to be alone with God and the beauty of nature, I am refreshed and ready to go back to my daily life. If you go make sure you go and see "The Height of Land". There are few vistas like it - gorgeous!

Response from the owner Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review- we very much appreciate it. I'm glad you mentioned the fitness center- it certainly is a little gem in a town the size of Rangeley. Shaun and I are so thankful that Meadowood Cabin brings you the solitude you are looking for.

“Salmon the size of your leg”

Reviewed 29 Nov 2012

This is the best place in New England to land large healthy Salmon. The cabin is spotless clean with a full kitchen that makes vacation meals easy and affordable. The cabin is remote enough to allow privacy and still have easy access to the Lake. The outdoor deck is large and comfy and equipped for outdoor grilling. Reserve your week early, because the schedule fills quickly. Talk to Shawn or Pops before fishing for a status of the lake and fishing tips.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for your review! So glad to hear Meadowood cabin worked out so well for you and your description makes it easier for others to understand the cabin and area so much better before booking. Very much appreciated!
