“Great place to for a big group”
Dave was great, he met us there and showed us through the lodge and gave us our not so little starter pack of fruit, juice, milk, etc. It was very child friendly with everything we needed and was clean and tidy. Short ride to town but felt like you were in the middle of the rainforest, great place!
“Home away from Home”
Dave was a great host and met us on arrival to show us around. We occupied both the main house and the boat house and the welcome packs were very generous and consisted of heaps of fruit, two bottles of wine, a box of assorted cheeses, a breakfast starter of baon & eggs and a pantry full of other goodies. Accomodation was great, wish we knew how to play the piano. Great views of Cairns harbour from the balcony. Close to the CBD and a short walk to the Botanical gardens and coffee shops. We also had a residnet bush turkey that visited us every morning on the balcony looking for hand outs. Dave was quick to respond when we had issues e.g. one of the bikes had a flat tire and was fixed within 24 hrs. Its Ok to drive up the drive way but a real pain when you have to walk it, not too good for unfit people or th elderly. Would also benmefit from some night lighting as quite hary navitgating it at night via the light of a mobile phone.
Response from the manager Hello Bob, Thanks for letting us know that you enjoyed your stay at the Lodge, and for posting the photos. You captured the view beautifully and those bush turkeys are definitely getting cheekier! I have passed on your comments about finding your way around in the dark to Dave. Thank you for this feedback. He is going to provide torches and see about sensor lights for the immediate area around the Lodge. The driveway is steep due to the hillside position of the Lodge. It may be advisable for some to drive down to the car park at the bottom of the hill and walk from there so they don't have to face the hill on the return home and can just drive it instead. Sincerely, Nick & Lizzie
“This accommodation was perfect for our group.”
We were welcomed by the owner and given a tour of the property. The refrigerator and pantry were stocked with the essentials for breakfast in the morning and entertaining that evening. The accommodations met all our needs. We each had our separate units, but in the evening we would gather in the main house for meals. This worked out beautifully, allowing us to share time together discussing our dives or what to plan for the next days activities. The lodge is in a lovely setting with wonderful views of the ocean and beautiful sunrises. It is easy access to town, walking tracks and the Botanical Gardens. This accommodation is not the place for those who want to sleep in past 6:00 am.
Response from the manager Thanks for taking the time to review your stay at the Red Arrow Lodge. It's great to hear that the house was suitable for your family and friends. The Lodge is close to the Airport, and consequently the early morning flight will wake most people up when they are not used to it. The general consensus has been that the size and layout of the house combined with its wonderful position in Edge Hill more than makes up for being woken early. We hope that you will contact us again if you make a return visit to Cairns. Sincerely, Lizzie & Nick.
The house was perfect- we had family fly in from all over australia for Mum's 50th and everyone loved the lodge and pool house. Large enough for all 14 of us- we all had our own space to retreat to. Amazing gardens and great location. Dave the owner was so friendly and accomodating and allowed us early entry and late departure. He even left a bottle of bubblies and some snacks for us! Highly recommended and we may even come back in September :)
“A Chance to Relax”
My family and the families of my sister and brother recently spent a week at the Red arrow Lodge over Easter. With 3 families the structure of the Lodge and Pool House enabled all families to have a little bit of privacy but also enjoy communal cooking and relaxation time in the main living area. The grounds are private and the gardens rambling and tropical. The children enjoyed having the pool so close, and we all enjoyed a wander in the botanic gardens just down the bottom of the driveway of an evening or morning. Having just dealt with the funeral of our father, David the owner, was very understanding when we arrived a day late and as there was no one booked at our departure allowed us an extra day. We were left with little treats of easter eggs, wine and various nibbles through the house for us to 'discover'. The home was supplied with plenty of the necessities - toilet paper, soap, washing and dish detergent etc. Lizzie met us and was very friendly, the house was very clean and there were fresh flowers in all the main areas. We would love to stay again if we ever find ourselves on holiday in Cairns again.
“A dream come true”
We arrived late afternoon and we were met by the owner at the house. The house was clean, fresh and flowers in all rooms, their were basic nessecities in the fridge and pantry we were able to have a cup of coffee and relax and admire the view. In the spas their was a bottle of wine, in fact there seem to be a bottle of wine everywhere. We were a family of 12 and had both houses and we all had ample room to our selves. The toiletries and all laundry requirements were supplied and plenty of towells. The kitchen was big and had all the utensils and kitchenware you wanted. It was a pleasure to enjoy the privacy, the walks, the closeness to all the attractions, the views, the pool and above all the setting within the botanic gardens. Thank you David for allowing us to use your wonderfull house
Response from the manager We are delighted to hear that your stay at the Lodge was a happy one for your special family get together. Thank you for your lovely review. Lizzie
Stayed here for four nights had an amazing experience, the location is perfect with clear views of the sea. Pool was spotless as was the inside of the house with leather seats, plasma tvs and a BBQ on the balcony. The lady (Lizzie) who handed over the keys to us was so nice and helpful! I would defo recommend this place to anyone who wants to have luxury and a cheap rate.
Response from the manager Thanks Robbie. I really enjoyed meeting all the family, hearing the Irish accent again after too long an absence, and Dave loved the pizza ! We hope you will find the time to come back again for another stay. Lizzie.
