We absolutely loved staying at Petit Tresor! It was perfectly situated for us, within walking distance of most everything - green grocer, bakery, fantastic restaurants and the old town area. Our interactions with the hostess were wonderful. She was a pleasure to meet and gave us some great recommendations of things to do/see and places to eat The apartment itself is wonderfully cozy and well kept and decorated The kitchen is well stocked and equipped - we went to the markets a lot to buy fresh meat/produce and cooked many of our own meals in the apartment. Overall it is a lovely apartment and we were very satisfied with our stay there. Highly recommended!
“Lovely apartment, wonderful experience.”
I rented "petit tresor" for the month of September while studying at l'institut de français. The apartment is perfect for a single or a couple. It was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, had everything I needed (kitchen equipment, towels, books, french dictionary, iron, hair dryer, washing machine, clothesline, even a scale (although with all of the fantastic restaurants and wine you might not want to use it!). The balcony with its spectacular view was perfect for relaxing and dining. It was peaceful, quiet, and its location above the town provided a lovely breeze. The building is safe and secure and the elevator saves a lot of steps! It is perfectly located for studying at the institute as it is just across the road from the school's back garden gate (there are still a lot of steps to climb once through that gate!). Mattie was extremely helpful as I went through the rental process and the owner, Sue, went above and beyond to welcome me and help me when the Air France pilot strike kept me in France a few days longer than expected. I could not have had a more pleasant experience. A french immersion, a lovely apartment, a new friend..... C'était parfait!
Very much enjoyed staying at Petit Tresor. The apartment was exactly as described and pictured. Clean, quiet, bright, comfortable and well equipped. Great to be able to view the Mediterranean from the balcony. Absolutely perfect for attending the Institut de Francais and perfectly situated for a few minute walk into Villefranche and public transportation to Nice and other towns along the Riviera. The owner Sue was super – helpful, friendly, available if anything needed. Would love to stay there again sometime
“Great find for a wonderful holiday”
The"Petit Tresor" has been my home during November, this lovely apartment has been beautifully modernised and is light and airy with fantastic views from the apartment and balcony towards Monaco, over the bay of Villefranche, Cap Ferrat and beyond. There is a modern well equipped kitchen, lovely bathroom and bedroom with an enormous bed which was very comfortable. I had a constant supply of hot water and independent gas central heating which was perfect as the evenings were rather chilly. The apartment is perfectly situated for the "Institut de Francais" with the front door of the residence being almost opposite the garden gate to the school. The short walk to the beautiful village of Villefranche, local shops and public transport is made easy by taking the lift of the residence down to the parking. I certainly didn't find the apartment noisy apart from one day when someone was strimming their garden The "Petit Tresor" was very clean and tidy, the welcome was warm and I highly recommend it for a single or a couple
Response from the owner We love when our guests are happy and feel at home and look forward to welcoming many more new 'friends' in 2014. We wish you all a Happy New Year and hope to see you sometime soon! Warmest Wishes, Mattie
“Excellent week in Villefranche-sur-mer”
njoyed an excellent week at "Artistes Tresor". The apartment was exactly as advertised, clean and perfectly located a short walking distance from many restaurants, the beach and train station. The local manager was there to meet us as planned and we had no reason to contact her further during our day. The only small drawback were the steep stairs to the apartment but this really cannot be avoided in a town/building of this age and was worth it for the view from the terrace. Overall, I would not heitate to recommend this to anyone wanting to spend a relaxing week in this charming, unspoiled part of France.
“Lovely stay in a wonderful village”
This apartment was my home for four weeks while I studied French at l'Institut de français just across the street. The apartment is charming and comfortable, modern and up-to-date, with lots of light and a wonderful balcony overlooking the harbor in Villefranche. It is well-equipped for cooking and relaxing. For students at l'Institut, it's very well situated since its top story is just across from the lower entrance, while its bottom story (take the elevator) saves the equivalent of climbing up four stories on Villefranche's very hilly streets. The town itself is a treasure, it's very convenient to Nice (and a lovely walk there along the sea if one has time), and Petit Trésor is perfectly placed between the basse corniche and the moyenne corniche. The apartment was very clean and tidy, the welcome was warm, and I highly recommend it for a single or a couple.
“What a find.”
We absolutely loved this gorgeous little apartment, beautifully presented, and the location was ideal. Sue organised our airport pickup and we were welcomed on arrival at the apartment. We loved the view and enjoyed the early sunrise, the boats on the harbour and the setting sun. Petit Tresor is very comfortably furnished and kitchen and bathroom provide everything we needed. A very easy 5 minute walk down to the town and on to the old town and a little longer to walk backup. Having an elevator was a real plus after our exploring. Villefranche is a charming little place to stay and stroll around and Petit Tresor made it that little bit more special.
Petiti Tresor is just that, a little treasure on the hillside of Villefranche-sur-Mer, a special little village where we'd love to settle some day. Thanks, Mattie and Sue, for a wonderful stay during my time at the Institut. Everything felt fresh and new and cozy. You can tell that this apartment is well-loved and very well looked after. I can't imagine a more perfect location for studying at the Institut. The front door of the property is a 10-second walk from the back garden gate. This was a huge gift for me after long days in class, even though I love to walk. Having a parking space is rare, and having an elevator is also not that common. My husband and I loved the terrace with views of the bay, Cap Ferrat, and out over the hills into the Mediterranean. This little home is perfect for 1 or 2 people, with large closets and a good-sized kitchen. Sue was very welcoming, and has a vast array of travel information for the area, plus a wide selection of books. All in all, a comfortable, convenient, enjoyable stay.
Response from the owner Lovely and looking forward to welcoming more of you! Mattie
Our recent stay at Petit Tresor was an absolute delight. Sue's welcome was cordial and inviting: the apartment had been thoroughly cleaned and prepared for our stay, with a well-stocked array of domestic supplies, and Sue was kind enough to wait patiently for us as we navigated the roads through Bastille Day traffic from the airport to Villefranche. As for the apartment itself: it is bright, cheerful, recently renovated, and furnished in the very best of taste, with books, lovely objets d'art, and comfortable furniture, and the layout--a living room extending into a decent-sized kitchen along two sliding glass doors that open to the large deck (and the sweeping view of the bay and sea!) assures cool breezes even on warm days as well as an overall sense of spaciousness. The king-sized bed in the bedroom in the rear was very comfortable, and cooled by a large ceiling fan easily controlled with a remote. We had rented a car, but ultimately we found that we did not need it: a ten-minute walk took us to shops, restaurants, and nearby beach areas, and a three-minute walk took us to the nearby Lignes d'Azur bus stop, where the 100 Bus stops every fifteen minutes or so for short rides into Nice and a bit further in the other direction to Monaco. So--yes--we had a lovely stay, and we highly recommend Petit Tresor for the little treasure that it truly is. Bob a., Seattle, Wa, USa
“Home away from Home”
The location of this apartment is such that through one door of the apartment building access to l'institut is just steps away, while through another lower door, the village is just a five minute walk. I have lived here for 4 weeks and I could not give a higher recommendation. As I have described the apartment to others, it feels immediately as if you are staying in the home of a friend. The terrace is rich with flowers and comfortable chairs and a table to prepare your homework, drink a glass of wine and/or sit down for dinner, and the view is as the french would say, 'super'. The luxuries of this apartment I find, are: the silent but wonderful ceiling fan in the bedroom which allows for a cool and mosquito free nights sleep, the beautifully renovated bathroom equipped with a tub for soaking, a rain shower and a hand held shower, the cleanliness of the apartment, the quietness of being just slightly off of the main village road which stays busy until all hours of the night, the constant breeze from being on the hillside (which isn't apparent in the village) that cools the apartment in the evening, the beautiful morning sunshine on the terrace with coffee before class, and the short walk home, just two blocks, after a late dinner or a night out with drinks in the village. Sue, the owner of the apartment, is very welcoming and nice and lives close by. She has been very helpful throughout my stay with all of my questions about Villefranche, transport, restaurants, sights, etc... I hope that I might come every year to Villefranche for study and that I will always be able to stay in this apartment.
