“Relaxing spacious traditional colonial house on the edge of the”
A group of 6 of us stayed at this villa when exploring Ubud and the surrounding area for 2 nights. The place is only designed for 4 really but they made last minute arrangements for us when we made changes. There were 2 bedrooms for a total of 4 people and the other 2 stayed in outdoor beds with an insect shield. The hospitality of those running the villa was great and they gave an excellent introduction to a local driver, who gave us a fantastic experience. They also cooked a nice traditional dinner for us one night. What we also liked was the view from the open villa out on the jungle below, which was stunning. The two of us who stayed outside had differing experiences. One (facing the jungle) had a great night's sleep but the other (me!) around the side of the house found it a little noisy. Recommended for 4 people, 5 at most. The only real challenge is that you can't really walk from the place into town but they will make arrangements to ensure this doesn't affect your experience.
Response from the owner Thanks and come again. Joe
“An authentic and upscale Balinese experience!”
I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful villa on two occasions and I heartily recommend it to anyone seeking both a traditional and upscale Balinese cultural experience. Freshly made Balinese coffee was served as soon as I poked my head out of the bedroom in the morning! The staff is eager to please and the ambiance is lovely. A true oasis just minutes from the busy streets of Ubud.
Response from the owner thanks Jerry.
“Take the time to stay in this villa and absorb Bali”
Our first visit to Bali last January was made so much more enjoyable by having this villa as our home base. Relaxing in the living area/garden overlooking a tropical forest and rice paddies was the highlight of our trip. Art objects and artifacts in the house and gardens provided visual treats while strolling about the grounds. We slept in the downstairs bedroom with the windows open in order to have Balinese night sounds lull us to sleep-there were no flying insects that we noticed. The husband and wife staff was attentive and friendly (we became immediate friends) and their Balinese cooking was just outstanding. We hope to return to Bali one day and plan to spend as much time as possible just being in this beautiful garden home.
“A room with a view; no walls!”
A breathtaking view of the surrounding forest without the bother of walls or windows. The living room, dining area and patio are all on a wrap around deck that is open to the fresh air and the quiet sounds of the surroundings. The bedrooms, one up and one down, are enclosed in secure rooms for relaxed sleeping at night. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the amenities including the husband and wife household team. In all, a beautiful relaxing oasis.
We have stayed here 3 times. Feels like home! (I wish). No beach or tourists in sight...just locals doing their thing. Love the coffee bakery place next door and walking to the galleries. And Colin McPhee's place across the road! Actually watched a Yankee's baseball game one morning surrounded by rice fields while Gede plied me with coffee. heaven! We are going back in December..cant wait to see the place in the rainy season...must be lovely! We will use the fire pit to be cozy. There's a lovely Balinese woman who comes in the afternoons to leave flower blessings and good karma for the house and residents. Better than church! I hope the house is not a popular rental...I would regret not being able to visit whenever we want.
