“We Will Return!!”

Reviewed 7 Feb 2014

We, (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed during the australian Open week and it was perfect. A short stroll to the train, then 20 mins to downtown. Martin even supplied us the train passes so we didn't have the hassle of purchasing the cards. The accommodation was perfect. Yes, its a quaint cottage. Kids slept on the large sofa bed. Breakfast was supplied which was a wonderful bonus. I work in a 5 star hotel, and would return to Martin and Berys on my next trip to Melbourne. Highly recommended.

Response from the owner Thank you very much Yoriko ,David and kids your review is much appreciated. We look forward to your next visit Regards Martin & Berys

“My Favourite accommodation”

Reviewed 14 May 2013

I recently travelled from country Victoria to stay at askrigg Cottage while attending medical appointments in Melbourne. I needed somewhere quiet, close to public transport, walking distance to a variety of shops and a comfortable bed with an en-suite bathroom. The cottage itself and its location provided all of these and more. It was a home away from home and as cosy as can be. I had all the utensils I needed to cook with in the kitchen, as well as a delicious gourmet breakfast hamper being an unexpected surprise addition on arrival. I thoroughly enjoyed preparing and cooking a few `home cooked' meals in the evening while I was there as well. The decor of the cottage is charming including the lovely lamps in the lounge room and bedroom which shed a wonderful ambience throughout. There was even a library of interesting books and magazines to read; an assortment of movies to watch and music Cd's to listen to which made my stay even more relaxing. The hosts of askrigg Cottage, Martin and Berys, cannot do enough to help you with anything you need and are happy for you to knock on their door and `annoy us anytime' as Berys said to me when I did have a question soon after arriving. I have stayed in quite a few hotels in Melbourne over the years and I often found something disturbing my sleep, as in a noisy air conditioner, the constant slamming of doors by other guests coming and going or traffic noises at all hours. There was nothing to disturb my sleep at askrigg Cottage. The cottage itself is located at the end of a garden surrounded by trees and vines in the most peaceful setting you could imagine. It is private, quiet and cosy, providing the perfect combination for a good night's sleep. It was exactly what I wanted and I really enjoyed my stay over several days at askrigg Cottage. Erica

“Perfect little Cottage in Moonee Ponds”

“Christmas was spent here so to us it is Xmaskrigg cottage”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2013

You could not find two more considerate and helpful hosts than Martin and Berys. Nothing was too much trouble in their efforts to make our stay a memorable one. The accommodation and facilities were of the highest quality. Its proximity to Moonee Ponds rail station made Melbourne quickly accessible and MP itself had a diversity of restaurants with cuisines to satisfy most palates. There were supermarkets and other shops for those who preferred to buy in to cook at the cottage. Anyone wishing to visit Melbourne and who like a homely and quiet environment could not possibly do better than spend their time at askrigg cottage.

Response from the owner Thank you Anne & John for that great review,we really appreciate it and are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Regards Martin & Berys

“Step into the past with modern amenities”

Reviewed 27 Oct 2012

Once again Martin and Berys made my stay a wonderful experience. This is old world charm but with the modern touch of an ensuite and new kitchen etc. Little touches that make a difference - flowers in your room, gluten free cereal - fresh breakfast hamper - butter which has been left out at room temperature. Choice of type of bread and milk required. Lovely garden which makes you feel you are in a magical secluded place but they are there if you need them to help you in any way that you require. I have been coming back to this cottage for years - completes my holiday - at the same time they respect your need for privacy. I come to Moonee Ponds on my own to spend time with my son who lives a few streets away - it makes me feel safe to know that Martin and Berys are so close and available if required.

Response from the owner Thanks for that review Tula ,look forward to having you stay again Regards Martin & Berys

“Splendid cottage and charming hosts!”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2012

I have visited australia twenty times, and askrigg Cottage is the best place to stay in Melbourne. I wish I had discovered it sooner! Martin and Berys have created a comfortable retreat with special touches - the breakfast basket, books, Dvds, maps and even a Met transport card. The location is perfect - a 5 minute walk to shopping or the train and a quiet neighbourhood. Besides all the comforts offered in the cottage and the lovely garden, Martin and Berys are most thoughtful and considerate - assisting their guests in every possible way as I discovered with some rather unusual requests and needs. I plan to stay at askrigg Cottage every time I return to Melbourne.

Response from the owner Thanks for that lovely review Letty ,look forward to having you stay again Regards Martin & Berys
