Casa Scriroco is the ideal place to stay. It's perfect, large and has everything you need. We opted to stay here because it was fully equipped like a regular home, we could of stayed in a hotel but because theyre were 3 of us so we thought this would be better and we were right. Carla the property manager was a gem,she brought us water and everytime we texted her she responded in minutes or showed up. When we arrived we were running on a delayed schedule from the airport but Carla was there the minute we were in the vicinity of the building. The place was super clean and the beds smelled like fresh linens. A nice welcome after traveling. The home has everything from pots and pans to additional sheets, cleaning services and a cute patio (with swing) in a cute rustic garden. The area is Tulum Puebla which has its benefits. We were near stores and lots of great affordable restaurants and a reasonable night life. A five minute drive (20 minute bike ride) gets you to the beach. We preferred the public beach (which is free and parked on the side of the road bringing our own sandwiches and beer in a cooler) compared to visiting a hotel for the day and paying crazy prices for food and beer) I'm so glad we stayed there. Tulum is relatively small so it's easy to get around, but having a big home base really worked out for us. Tip; since Casa Scriroco offers a kitchen with pans etc. We saved a bunch on meals so we could go out at night and have amazing dinners and drinks. Big plus since the food at the nicer restaurants is outta this world. Seriously try the octopus and stay at Casa Scriroco!
Response from the owner Thank you very much for your kind review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at Casa Scirocco, Karla and I are very pleased. You are always welcome.
“Great spot near everything, great hosts !”
I stayed in Casa Scirocco with my sister, my mom and dad from february 14th to 22nd. We all fell in love with Tulum, a town where you feel relaxed, secure and happy! The turquoise sea was breathtaking. The people of Tulum were always very nice with us, including the taxi drivers, the waiters in the restaurants and our hosts. My sister and I were satisfied with the house. My parents, who have higher standards, found the living room to be a little lacking. For example, the TV and the CD player were not working, and they found the beds uncomfortable. Also, on the pictures you can see a hammock, but we found none. Overall, while not luxuriious, the house met all our basic needs and was extremely well situated in Tulum. There were tons of really good restaurants within only 10min of walk. To go to the public beach, who is about 6 km from the house, we rented bikes. It was a really relaxing ride, but again, my parents thought it was farther than expected. Alessandro, who live right next door, gave us tons of advices about where to eat, where to go swim with fish and turtles (Akumal beach), which cenote to go, etc. It was really appreciated!
“Charming apartment in Tulum”
My husband, two small children and I stayed at Francesca's charming apartment for a week. The apartment had everything we needed to make us feel like we were at home. It was very clean, well-kept and nicely furnished with artistic details. We loved waking up and hearing the birds each morning and walking out into a lush garden courtyard where our kids could play and swing. We also liked being situated in a neighborhood in town rather than in a touristy area. The location of the apartment is very convenient for walking to restaurants, shops, and bars in town. Francesca was wonderful to correspond with, always prompt in her replies and so helpful in answering all our questions. Alex and Patti, who stay in the apartment next door, are also lovely and provided great local insight on places to eat, beaches, yoga studios, and the best cenotes for our kids. Our stay at Casa Scirocco and interacting with Francesca, Alex, Patti, and their beautiful daughter Blanca, made our trip to Tulum even more memorable and magical.
“Great location, great hosts!”
La Rosa Dei Venti was the perfect choice for my first vacation in Tulum. Away from the expensive glitz of the playa, the apartment had all of the amenities I needed. A well-stocked kitchen, nice shower, bicycle parking for our rented bikes, and more. Alex and Pati were wonderful hosts, and if you have a chance to take alex's snorkeling tour, do it. He also gave us great recommendations for places to eat and things to do. As others have said, the apartment is an easy bike ride to the beach (about 20-30 minutes depending on how fast you go) and you can ride to the ruins and other destinations as well. If you're looking for an alternative to beach hotels, this place is great.
Response from the owner I hope you will spend more birthdays in my place! You are a great guest, thank you very much. Come back soon.
“Wonderful house just five minutes from the main strip in a quiet”
We were a group of cycle tourists and as such had no reservation in Tulum. After a night's stay down at the beach (circa $100 a night) we decided to look in town for cheaper accomodation. We looked at the hostels but they all seemed a bit too hectic or basic. As we were a group of 4 we decided to get in touch with Francesca and were very glad we did. We ended up staying a week. Very easy to book online and fantastic to have the neighbours alessandro and Pati on hand to help out. We went snorkelling with alessandro which was wonderful. Good clean and airy accommodation very close to all the restaurants, shops etc and only a 15 minute cycle from the beach. Thanks all for a great stay. David
Response from the owner Thank you so much, David. I hope you will came back. Best wishes. Francesca
“Great fun at Scirocco!”
I spent four weeks in this beautiful house. it is located conveniently located to downtown tulum and all its amenities.the house is simple but well designed and in working order.i particularly enjoyed the night on the terrace or downstair sitting in its beautiful garden.in all i really had a great month at "la Rosa dei Venti"'s Scirocco.
“Great for a family of four”
Somehow we missed that this place is a duplex, but this was a definite plus in our eyes. Patty and alex and their young daughter live in the front unit and they showed us how everything worked, made sure we had what we needed and were helpful with advice and recommendations. The kitchen is really well stocked and provides many things to make cooking easier. Under the sink area we found lots of plastic containers to store leftovers; there was foil and plastic wrap and some oils, spices and coffee filters. These are the little things that when away from home really made life easier. There was also one set of snorkeling equipment which was useful. The two of us adults and our two children 11 and 15 were very comfortable here. Having a washing machine was essential with sweaty and wet clothes for four! The drying lines on the roof, accessible from the children's bedroom were easy to use, clothes dry quickly and you get a nice view from up there! We were not planning on having a car the whole time we were here, but alex recommended it and we were glad we extended our car rental. Taxis are expensive as was bike rental for 4 people for 8 days. There are many places that are easier to get to in a car than by bike. There are many small stores, vegetable stands, restaurants and shops within walking distance. We would highly recommend Francesca's place. The only things that would make it a bit better would be better ceiling fans (they move slowly)-- though alex did bring us a standing fan which helped. Also a screen in the front door would improve ventilation.
“A great value in town”
My spouse and I are in out mid to late 60's. We stayed at La Rosa dei Venti (in Scirocco) for a week at the beginning of February. It is very comfortable. We did a good deal of cooking and greatly enjoyed the upstairs balcony and adjoining flat roof. Since you are right in town, you have access to restraunts, grocery shopping with just a short walk. There is access to the collectivo and a taxi stand just three blocks away. Francesca was not there when we were, but alex (Alessandro) was great. A very helpful, articulate and positive young man with a delightful young family. If you choose to be in town rather than the hotel zone, this is a great value. The beach is a short bike or taxi ride away. The collectivo can take you to the ruins or all the way to Playa del Carmen at a very low cost. Note that there is even a washing machine in the upstairs bathroom and you can hang laundry on the clothes line on the flat roof!
“Welcoming comfortable Home”
My family stayed at this wonderful place during Xmas and New Years. Alessandro was very helpful and friendly. The house is very close to the to the main road of town. When we first entered, We were so pleased to encounter such an ample and clean place. It was nice to spend our evenings up in the balcony and listen to the birds in the morning. Lots of beach towels and a washing machine you can use for personal use. Highly reccomend this place if you are not into the touristy resort scene.
“A charming house in the middle of Tulum (village)”
It was a great experience to stay in this pleasant house for Christmas holiday. All family members enjoyed this rental (size of the rooms, comfortable beds), and all of us hope to come back as soon as we can. Service (by alessandro) was perfect. Best is the garden and terrace, least are the lack of some dishes like pan caps and ... mosquitoes.
Response from the owner Thank you Michel for your review and your feedback. I'll make sure to replace some dishes! Hoping to having you again. Best regards. Francesca
