“Absolutely loved it, very clean and comfortable.”
We loved Berkeley House and plan on going back and will recommend it to family, friends and colleagues. We appreciate all of the nice amenities such as shampoos, soaps, lotions, filtered water in fridge, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, spices, etc.; they thought of everything. We thoroughly enjoyed using the pool table, dart board and games, plus we enjoyed playing the piano, despite our lack of experience. We loved the town of Berkeley Springs and enjoyed the private Roman baths, restaurants/bars, shops/antique stores, Octoberfest, and Berkeley Brewing Company. We cannot wait to return for more!
Response from the owner Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It's always nice to hear that our efforts are paying off. Joe
“Perfect relaxing get-away cottage”
This was such a perfect place to be, we wished we had more time to stay! The comfortable charm of this house made us relax and feel like we were home away from our homes. The setting was peaceful and tucked away from any traffic hustle and bustle. We were also close enough to amenities and 'downtown' to walk where we might want to go. We felt very fortunate to find this amazing rental that Joseph is gracious enough to share - thank you again!!

“A House That's Like Home”
This is the second time we've rented Berkeley House. First time was for a family getaway with daughters. Second time was a weekend getaway with my two brothers. Berkeley House is the kind of place where you instantly feel at home. Everything is comfortable and easy and well-outfitted. It was getting chilly this time so we used the gas fireplace in the living room. Great and cozy place to read, talk, and sip some vino. We played pool downstairs, too. Location is just a few minutes' walk from the little town, the baths and spas, and restaurants. About a 10-15 minute drive to Cacapon Park for hiking, golf, and more. 15 minutes the other way is the C&O; Canal along the Potomac where you can rent bikes in the town of Hancock, MD. If you want to splurge, try Lot12 Public House, a 3 minute walk away and the best place to eat in town. Joe is super to deal with and the price is very reasonable for having your own home in a beautiful area.
“Great retreat when you're looking for a home away from home”
Looking to escape from the pressures of regular life, my husband and I headed to the Berkeley House for a last-minute retreat. Sam was kind enough to set us up with late arrival snacks and breakfast basics along with restaurant suggestions for both if we wanted to go out. We were able to rest on the couches, sip wine on the porch and play darts in the basement. Along with the excellent suggestions for meals (most of which we sampled and agreed with), the hospitality continued after we returned home. Joe was kind enough to send an email asking for our home address to return some items we had left behind. We're hoping to get back to the Berkeley House soon, but would recommend it highly for others in search of a home away from home. While my husband and I appreciated the private time, we would happily return with friends to hang out or with our kids.
“Charming & comfortable vacation spot”
I enjoyed staying at the Berkeley House this weekend. It's lose to town yet set in the woods. Waking up to birds chirping was lovely. Great jacuzzi tub inside with all the things you need to relax. Well equipped house and really comfortable beds!
Response from the owner Alison, Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. We try to provide everything for a relaxing vacation. Joe
“Charming, peaceful getaway”
Two girlfriends and I had an absolutely wonderful weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the big city at Berkeley House. The house is beautifully decorated and has every amenity you could want, right down to wonderful soaps and lotions in the bathrooms. Close to town so we could walk to spas, shops, and restaurants. A nice sunroom for chatting, even a piano and a pool table.
Beautiful house with all of the special amenities, soaps, lotions, well equipped kitchen, with essentials in cabinets and refrigerator. Very thoughtful in all of the little special touches. Close to town, easy to walk to activities...lots of information as to town stores, restaurants and spas on a family room table. Loved the house, would stay there again definitely...
“We had a quiet, peaceful and romantic weekend.”
The house was nicely decorated and furnished, close to town, yet out of the hubbub up on a hill. We loved the piano, antique furniture and the 2 person jacuzzi. There was nothing I didn't like. Friendly, laid back atmosphere in town was also reflected in the house.
“We loved the comfort, charm, and convenient location!”
We needed an in-town house that would allow lots of options for occupying our daughter and her 20-something-year-old friends. Berkeley House has plenty of room to spread out in and a huge kitchen-dining area for shared cooking fun. The shops, restaurants, spas, and mineral bath were all in walking distance for those who wanted them. Or we could hang out with a good book on the sun porch or back deck. Or have a game of Scrabble in front of the gas fire. While there is no particular view from the house, as you might get with a cottage in the area, we appreciated not needing the car except to go for hikes in Cacapon State Park. And the location is nice and quiet. Granola, grapefruits, juice, coffee, a loaf of bread and cream cheese were waiting in the fridge, along with other staples and condiments that made cooking in simple. We ladies also loved trying out all the herbal bath supplies and lotions in the bathrooms. The ambiance is not frou frou luxury, but rather that of a well-maintained family getaway house that has kindly been shared. Joe and Sam were most helpful and responsive as we emailed back and forth about our reservation.
“Berkeley House provides an affordable and charming getaway in lo”
My wife and I spent our Honeymoon at the Berkeley House and have been back several times for getaways. It is wonderful to have a whole charming country home to ourselves that includes a jacuzzi, a pool table, a screened in porch for the summertime, and a gas fireplace, ideal for curling up in front of in the wintertime. Berkeley Springs is a charming town that boasts hot baths, a health spa, a handful of good restaurants, cafe's and coffee shops, and two large antique malls. It's only two hours from our home in the DC area and is priced so we can afford it.
