“Private and Blissful!”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2014

We stayed in the Bamboo Cottage during our honeymoon and couldn't have asked for a more wonderful experience! After offering us an upgrade (so we had our own private pool) we arrived in our gorgeous villa to find a surprise flower decoration wishing us a happy honeymoon. The gardens are beautiful as are all the villas and the bed was super comfortable. Murdi's food was delicious, we would recommend trying. The location is quiet and away from the touristy part of ubud. We hired a couple of motorbikes from Ketut to get around. We also stayed in the Lotus cottage which was lovely too! Would recommend!

“Bamboo Cottage”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2013

I stayed in the Bamboo Cottage at Devi's place. My week long stay was perfect. The Cottage was absolutely wonderful and the location was perfect...peaceful location but close enough to Ubud so that you aren't isolated. All of the staff were wonderful and looked after everything I needed from directions, booking tours and providing food. Beautiful pool, large flat screen tv, dvd collection, large comfortable bed, huge comfortable bathroom, handy kitchen, and breakfast delivered every morning made this the best choice of accommodation on my trip!

“Peaceful, friendly and charming”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2013

Had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous cottage with wonderful host and staff. Nothing beats a healthy breakfast while watching the goings-on in the rice-fields followed by a dip in the pool and exploring the painters and beadworkers village. Most definitely will return again soon.

“Devi's Place embodies the true heart and soul of Bali, warm, we”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2013

We recently spent a week at Devi's Place and were totally impressed by the whole experience. All the staff were great-welcoming us warmly from the first time we met them, till we had to sadly say good bye on our last day. Bamboo cottage was wonderful-a quiet oasis set on the edge of a peaceful rice field. We felt like we were staying in a friends home, rather than rental accommodation. There were always fresh flowers in our room, books to read, beautiful artwork, and a stunning pool set in a lush, tropical garden. On days we didn't feel like cooking or going out, we ordered and received some of the best home cooked Indonesian meals we had during our time in Bali, all hand delivered and set up on our table by the staff. Staff helped us several times arrange drivers for days out and one of our favourite things to do was just walking each day into the beautiful artists village and also into downtown Ubud. Nothing was too much for the staff and their genuine and warm friendliness and attention to detail were outstanding and greatly appreciated. The only thing we disliked about our whole stay was having to leave-but hopefully we will be back again someday in the not tooo distance future. We would recommend this place highly to anyone!

“Just what the DR ordered...”

Devis place was just what the DR ordered. Accommodation where you feel the tension melt away and have the warm hospitality of the owner and the staff. There is no problem too big or small and they go out of your way to ensure you have the best stay in Ubud Bali. I was on my own and stayed in the Lotus cottage, it had an amazing outside shower little terrace of which i did yoga on each morning and the pool has a lovely view out of to the rice paddys. Its not far at all from town and you can rent scooters at Devis for very cheap giving you the freedom to explore as and when you need. I hardly left most evenings wanting to just chill in my own oasis and the home cooking done here was superb!

“couldn't have stayed at a better place”

Reviewed 5 Oct 2012

I spent just under a month at Bamboo Cottage. I had such a wonderful stay there, I found myself trying to figure out how to rent out the place for the whole year or my whole life (of course, work and life back home awaited me). The cottage was much larger than I'd expected. Just outside of the very private bedroom (tinted windows surround it, plus curtains you can draw), the dining/lounging area provided views out across lovely ricefields where ducks gathered every morning to eat. In the distance you can see the trees surrounding the ayung River gorge (Try to visit!). Breakfast was perfect every morning -- tropical fruit, toast, and coffee or tea. Served by the staff, who were all absolutely wonderful and thoughtful. An anecdote: I came down with a stomach thing for a day, and after telling just one staff member, the concern of everyone became apparent. Murdi, who cooks fantastic food at Devi's (which I ate often!), brought me some plain rice with butter, while I was sleeping, as I hadn't eaten all day. I was so touched by the kindness. This is the general treatment you get while here. In fact, on many occasions, I would meet someone, make sudden plans, and ask for a ride to town from staff (with almost no notice). They always accommodated me. I couldn't believe how helpful everyone was (you can also rent a motorbike for cheap). The pool is perfect and only shared with one other cottage, so it's typically a private experience. You'll get quickly acquainted with the geckos on the walls and the frog that lives there, making his way in and out each night as discreetly as possible. A safe allows you to leave your things in the room without fear (I left most of my money and other ultra important items inside the whole time), but like me, you'll probably forget all about the security of your stuff right away. I felt well protected. Overall, a clean, comfortable, positive space to reflect and indulge in beauty. Dragonflies, giant flowers, ricefields, coconut water, oh my.

“Devi's Place is a quiet and beautiful refuge where you can relax”

It is a place where you can just sit back and watch the Rice Fields next to it.with a beautiful small Pool and a kitchen One could spend the Wohle Day there.besides its charming atmosphere,to which it's nice staff contributes,it is an excellent starting Point for amazing hiking Tours in the surrounding landscape!

“A place by the ricefields”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2012

We stayed at Devi"s Place in Jacaranda Villa for 5 nights in august. The pick up at the airport was great, and we received a lovely welcome upon arrival. The villa was just what we wanted. Simple, peaceful, comfortable, and with a view over the rice fields. The bed was large and comfortable, and the outdoor bathroom lovely. The villas are nicely spaced in beautiful gardens, so no overlooking anybody else. Breakfasts were adequate - fruit platter and toast, but you can order other things if you like. The filtered water was a bonus we weren't expecting. The pool is shared with other villas, but we seemed to be the only ones using it. We had a home cooked meal one evening, which was lovely. It is a bit of a walk into Ubud, but there are one or two different routes, so it doesn't get boring! Our favourite walk was along the ridge, passing by small cafes and lovely views over the valley. It is in a very quiet location, as opposed to the busyness of Ubud! Lovely to hear the ducks quacking as they worked in the rice fields and to watch the workers too!! The owner is very helpful, and there are scooters to rent if you don't want to walk far. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

“Fantastic self contained cottage!”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2012

Devi's Place is a beautiful little collection of cottages. Overlooking the rice fields, they are tucked away from the hustle and bustle but still at a distance close enough to walk or catch a taxi to Ubud. Perfect for what we were after! The real highlight is the staff, as Janny (the owner) has a lovely relaxed attitude, and the cooking and housekeeping are exceptional.

“Away from it all.”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2012

My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at Bamboo Cottage. The owners were very nice and it was great to have Janny next door to give us advice on where to visit near Ubud. They organised a car to take us on a trip to the rice fields and a temple and had a taxi ready to take us in to Ubud when we needed. The village is pleasant enough and I think next time I will just stay in the village and relax instead of going to Ubud centre. The garden was lovely and had almost zero mosquitoes in July, so we really enjoyed sitting on the sunloungers by the pool until gone midnight! We even saw a firefly! I felt it was quite private from the other bungalow it shares it's garden and pool with, but the staff (neighbours) often walked right past the back windows (dining, lounge area) and through the garden by the pool, so it didn't have as much privacy as I had expected. I would recommend this cottage to anyone as it is lovely, unless you want to be near shops or restaurants as it was quite far from Ubud (45mins walk), and a little walk from the main Penestanan Village area.
