“The nicest place we've ever stayed!”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2014

My wife and I prefer the sound end of Whidbey Island, so we were reluctant to try something north of Oak Harbor and away from all of the wonderful small wineries and towns like Langley and Coupeville. We decided to tack on three extra days at the end of a week near Freeland and try Soaring Eagle Lodge just because it looked so wonderful--and it is! It is the nicest place we've ever stayed--so nice, we were content to just hang around the house and relax almost the whole time. We made one side trip to Anacordes, which was fun, but this house is so nice and the setting is so spectacular, we loved it there. Other reviews list all of the amenities, so I won't go into everything. But the view from the great room, which had a wall of windows high enough to look OVER fur trees more than 70-feet tall, is just spectacular. Yes, we saw soaring eagles, and a lot more. The back patio is a great place to just hang out and have a glass of wine. On a clear day, you have a wonderful view of Mt. Baker. The kitchen is fabulous, and we loved the wood-burning fireplace (there are three downstairs) in the little den off the kitchen. That was a great area to curl up with a book. The landscaping is beautiful, and the attention to every detail inside is just as nice. This is a special place. We will return. With Deception Pass and other great sights so close, there are other things to do, but after you walk through the custom designed stained glass front door of Soaring Eagle Lodge, you won't want to leave. Ever.

“Perfect Escape!”

We spent two wonderful weeks at Soaring Eagle Lodge, and found ourselves reluctant to leave the premises even for day trips while there, it was such a beautiful location. The lodge itself is very aptly named, both from the decor and the ready view of the eagle's nest high in the trees outside. Elegant and comfortable furnishings, soaring glass windows, an amazing kitcheon, first-class bedding and lots of places to "hang out" all added to the ambiance. We especially enjoyed the cozy keeping room with fireplace in the evenings. Outside, the grounds and landscaping are all immaculately kept...a pleasure to walk and for the kids to play safely! The views of Skagit Bay and the mountains to the East (including Mt. Baker on clear days) are truly wondrous. The owners Mary & Al were most helpful in our trip planning and had provided pretty much everything needed for our stay other than food & drink...and even a bit of that! It was great being in the "country" but still close enough to Oak Harbor for groceries, restaurants etc. Perfect location for exploring Whidbey and the surrounding islands...even for a day trip to Victoria. Much more could be said, but suffice it to say that we will defintely be back! Bob & Linda Williams Houston, Tx
