“Poorly cleaned and in need of attention”

Reviewed 8 May 2014

While this unit is located at an absolutely spectacular location overlooking the Pacific, is in serious need of remodeling. Carpets are worn, doors and windows are difficult to open, kitchen appliances need replacing and a coat of paint would go along way to improving things. Stepped on a piece of glass in the carpet upon arriving, found coakroaches in the kitchen and the bed sheets had holes in them. I would seriously look somewhere else before renting here again

Response from the manager The carpet needs replacing, we can only agree with the guest about that criticism. We've pointed that out to the owner and urged them to replace, and they will be looking at doing that when they visit next month. It's professionally cleaned frequently, but it is old carpet. With the exception of the new refrigerator, the kitchen appliances are definitely not new, but they all work perfectly well. With a rental, it's probably not fair to expect everything to suit your personal taste, but it does have to work right. The appliances are a bit dated in appearance but they work great. We were not aware of any other problems with the guest's experience, as they did not contact us directly. Had they done so, we would have sent housekeeping back to re-clean and to put on newer bed linens. We would have been more than happy to do that at once. If something isn't right, we want to know about it, so we can fix it, and the guest can have a better experience. We can't improve the guest's experience if we don't know there was a problem until weeks later in a review! So please let us know - in real time - so we can help.

“Disappointed”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2014

Sandy and Cathy from ahh-Aloha are always helpful and professional. They co-ordinated workmen who (for the most part showed up on time. But the condo was not up to our expectations: (1) kitchen knives no sharper than a butter knife (2) blood on the bathroom curtain separating from bedroom (yechy!) (3) Tv's did not work and when replaced were much smaller screens--we are movie buffs so very disappointed in the owner's unwillingness to put in same size screens as advertised and (4) no door separating the bathroom and bedroom--only the bloody curtain and could see the toilet area from the living room---really needs a door for privacy. Have stayed at Sea Lodge for 6 years but could not recommend this unit to another.

Response from the manager Fortunately we were able to replace the television sets within 24 hours of their being reported as not working. They are both 32", a reasonable size for relatively small rooms like the Sealodge condos have. For guests wishing for more privacy in the restroom, the bedroom door also closes, and there is a second bathroom upstairs. The curtain has been cleaned - we are so sorry that it was soiled, that is not acceptable. There is a knife sharpener in the kitchen drawer, it apparently does not get used often enough. We hope future guests will enjoy a trouble-free experience.

“Most Enjoyable”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2014

Stayed two weeks in J! with my wife and enjoyed it very much. Although older, the condo complex is well maintained, quiet, and spectacularly located over the annini Reef. J1 has been updated and is nicely located on the east end of the complex. Were the chairs and love seat to have provided greater lumbar support and been higher from the floor, J! would be perfect. We made the seating work, but both my wife and I found ourselves wishing for firmness and support. We enjoyed the sunrises, walkout access to the lanai and grounds, and falling asleep to the sound of the surf below the cliff fronting the grounds. We liked the Princeville location, having previously stayed in Poipu, which we also enjoyed. Easy access to the beaches of the north shore is a huge plus for Sea Lodge, as is Hanalei, which we simply can't get enough of. In short, we would return to stay in J!. Thanks to the owners and ahh aloha for making it available to snowbound Michiganians like us!

“A great place for R”

Amazing view, everything works perfectly, very clean, comfortable and cozy. My wife and I had a great time there!

“A little slice of heaven”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2013

We stayed in J1 last fall and had a wonderful time. The condo was clean and well-appointed, and the layout was great for two couples. The complex was centrally located and the view from the patio was extraordinary. Really a great stay and highly recommended.

“Amazing stay in a beautiful place!”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2013

Starting with the view from the condo to the location we were thrilled with our vacation choice. We were minutes away from shopping and restaurants and the location in Princeville could not have been better. The condo was spacious enough for us and our friends. We took full advantage using the pool, the private beach and even the bar-b-que area. Every evening we would sit on the patio and enjoy the view of the ocean and then have the thrill of waking up to it in the morning. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

“Beautiful location, disappointing condo”

Reviewed 11 Sep 2013

We love coming to Sea Lodge and have had great experiences in the Princeville area previously, but were disappointed by our stay this time. The condo is desperately in need of maintenance and deep cleaning. When we arrived the screens were out of their frames, the sliding door is almost impossible to open and close (a less fit or elderly person would risk injury just trying), pillows lacked liners and were odorously stained, and everything, including the carpets and furniture just felt a little bit sticky (perhaps from the use of latex paint in refinishing?). The internet connection was a big selling point for us, but it only worked for short periods during the evenings (the equipment is fine, it appears to be an issue with the service provider) and the paper-thin walls had us turning up the radio some evenings so that our children would stop asking why the young couple next door was "fighting" every night. That said, the amenities were great- plenty of beach toys and towels, the washer and dryer look brand new, and the kitchen has pretty new granite countertops. It's clear that efforts have been made to improve the unit, but it still has a long way to go. The grounds at Sea Lodge are impeccably well maintained, the grounds crews were always friendly, and the location can't be beat. Sunrise from the lanai or from the bedroom windows is spectacular. We'll try again next year with a different unit.

Response from the manager Try Sealodge J1 again on your next trip - we have replaced the housekeeping service. Obviously they were not doing their job!
