“A great find...highly recommend”
Thank you Susie for the warm welcome on my arrival this summer. The gite is great, very well equipped, close to all the necessities in the village - bakery, supermarket, post office etc. Very friendly cafe/bar directly across the road with good value meals. This is a region you could easily stay for longer than a week as there is so much to see and do. 5 minutes to the Canal du Midi and quite a few villages close by with good markets, also close to Narbonne - the food hall is worth seeing(and shopping). 30 minutes to Carcassone (more shopping)... The garden is a lovely place to have your evening aperitif after a day out and about exploring. I can highly recommend staying here, Susie has loads of local knowledge and has gone to alot of trouble to make life very pleasant and very easy for her guests.
Response from the owner Dear Jane, So glad you enjoyed your stay in our gite. I hope you will be able to return to this great part of the world in the near future. Kindest Regards, Susie Hines Walters Owner
Found Kookaburra gite to be great base for our stay in the Languedoc. Being situated in village of La Redorte it is close enough to bigger regional centres without being too close. Susie was a great hostess & nothing was too much trouble. Her local knowledge & recommendations were great. The gite was great value & very comfortable & walking distance to Le Rivassel & L'Harlequin restaurants, Intermarche super market as well as the Canal du Midi. Excellent value for the four of us.
“Relaxing and comfortable stay at La Redorte”
With 2 children aged 9 and 11, we stayed for a week. The accommodation was very comfortable will all facilities and ensuites for each of the 2 bedrooms. Beautiful ancient tiles on the floor and tasteful decor made a welcoming homecoming after a busy day of sightseeing. We took day trips to the Cathar sites, Carcassone and Narbonne. A local winery is a short walk away and the shady Canal Midi is really only a 2 minute walk from the house. We found everything that was mentioned in the publicity was true. Sue Hines was very helpful with local insights and tips for a very memorable stay. I can only say that we had a fantastic holiday and will definitely return in the future.
“Vist to the south of France to view properties for purchase.”
I arrived in La Redorte on a very wet and chilly winter night. Susie was there to greet me with the keys and a full explanation of the property and village. The house is welcoming and has everything one needs whether travelling alone, as a couple or with a family. The presentation was spotless which is always welcome, particularly after many hours of travel. The house is walking distance from all of the the village services, shops and of course the Canal du Midi. Even though it was winter, the surrounding area is enchanting, with villages such as Olonzac a short drive away. The home has cable television, providing a good range of channels, not that this is a priority in such a great area of France. I stayed at the house for 10 days and found it a great base to work from to see the area. A vehicle is essential, as public transport in this corner of France is limited. I flew in to Toulouse and hired a vehicle there which worked well. (GPS recommended) Carcasonne is close and I'm sure in Spring and Summer the wineries come into a life of their own. There is a local pizza restaurant with some good local house wine, althought the supermarket also stocks a broad range of wines and food. Favourite shop- the local boulangerie..can;t recommend highly enough. The support and services provided by Susie and Bruce made the stay easy and pleasurable.
