“Beyond all expectations... absolute heaven!”

Reviewed 13 Feb 2014

Wow Wow Wow! We thought we were jumping on a ferry to Kangaroo Island, little did we know we were on our way to paradise. The location of the house was spot on, making the short walk to and from the beach easy enough to leave the esky at home and the wine in the fridge! The house was a dream, beautiful to live in for a week but never a worry that we might trudge a little sand through after a day on beach. Fiona and Brooke were nothing but gems, having inherited some serious rubbish from the group before us, they popped over to tell us they will sort it out and to not worry about it. Could not fault our week, it was the perfect start to 2014 - thanks!

“a fantastic property and location”

Location, location. This is a beautiful property with everything a family requires. We can't wait to return again soon. Thank you Fiona for sharing your house.

“Our family's best holiday ever.”

Reviewed 24 Jan 2014

Beachcomber was a wonderful place for our family of 12, ranging from 1 year to 70 years, to stay. It provided us with all we needed and more than we wanted, was comfortable, clean and well positioned. Through the incredibly hot week although not as bad as the 5 days of 40 on the mainland, we were able to sleep with fans on and the air conditioning in the living area was more than adequate so that we were comfortable during the heat of the day. All amenities were excellent. My grandson who is 3 and loves 'Toy Story' was absolutely thrilled at being greeted with Woody and Buzz in your toy box while the eldest grand child, with the help of adults as they passed by was able to complete two of the jigsaws in the heat of the day. The beach in front of the house was perfect, calm, clear water with sand banks that allowed safety of water activities for all. The walk to the boat ramp and back was just right for my morning and evening exercise. Thank you for the use of the moulded canoes that provided variety from the kids' boogie boards and swimming. With Pennington Beach so close, the older ones could surf. We also visited Remarkable Rocks, Admirals arch, Flinders Chase, Dudley Winery, Kingscote, the Bee House, American River and of course Penneshaw, so toured the island from one end to the other. The holiday provided the family with a reprieve, so enjoyable, from the stress of the illness and death of father and poppa, over the past 18 months, and also the ideal venue to celebrate my 70th birthday. It is too difficult to say what was the best, it was all so good. There is nothing we liked least, except perhaps leaving. My 12 year old granddaughter said, 'Where did the week go Grannie, it can't be the day to go home today!' Another chipped in, 'Can we come back for your birthday next year, Granz?' 'We'll see. Perhaps when I'm 75.' Thank you so much Fiona for a wonderful stay.

“Stunning property in an awesome location”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2012

I booked Beachcomber for a 2-day stay with my partner, his two teenage girls and also some English relatives who had come over to visit. Having never been to KI before, we weren't sure what to expect. When we arrived at the property, the place was warm and cosy and everyone immediately settled right in. We found that there was just as much to do around the house/beachfront as there was driving around the island. All the kids loved the accommodation, and we quickly discovered that 2 days was definately not long enough. With everything that we could possibly need, including a beautiful fire and downstairs games room for the kids, we will certainly be looking to stay at Beachcomber again in the future. Many thanks Fiona.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review. We often hear that same comment "it wasn't long enough", usually no matter how long guests have stayed. There is always something else to try to fit in to your stay - a good reason to return!

“Pleasant stay at Beachcomber”

Reviewed 17 May 2012

We stayed at Beachcomber (Cassini wasn't available which is next door) and loved the sea views from the main living area and being only a 2 min walk to the beach. Well equipped, comfortable house. We loved having the outdoor shower to use after being to the beach to wash your feet, etc. The decking area was fabulous to sit outside and eat and enjoy the wonderful sea views. There is a pool table downstairs as well. We didn't realise some things that you had to bring yourself, such as toilet paper and paper towels. And if you opt to bring your own linen, that includes having to bring your own pillowcases, bathmats, hand towels, etc, as well, which we didn't realise and only brought our own sheets, towels and pillow cases. The bathroom and kitchen could have been a bit cleaner. Fans in the bedrooms would have been nice to have on at night as it could get a bit hot when trying to sleep.

Response from the owner Thank you Beth. Sorry there was some confusion regarding what is supplied. The property is self contained, this is so guests can make their own meals and stay completely privately and independently. We do provide a modest range of items to guests, such as soap, 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, glad wrap, washing liquid, dishwasher powder, and a range of condiments such as salt, pepper, sugar flour etc. It is expected that guests will bring everthing they expect to use during their stay, or puchase from the locals stores. We do indicate on our booking form what items of linen are supplied, it is up to guests as to what other items they might need to bring. We apologise if the kitchen and bathroom was not to expectation, however as it was Good Friday and a same day changeoever the cleaner does not have as much time to clean and prepare as normal. Thank you for helping us with our ongoing feedback of facilities and I will be in touch with the cleaners regarding your comment.

“perfect spot”

Reviewed 9 Feb 2012

I spent 4 nights at Island Beach Escape with my parents (aged in their late 70s) and my two sons aged 2.5 and 4 months. We all loved it, despite our age differences, and had a wonderfully relaxing time. The house was extremely comfortable and homely, with everything thought of and provided for - you can tell this is a loved home from home. The position is perfect, with stunning ocean views and only a stone's throw from the beach. The owners were also extremely helpful and took a personal interest in ensuring that our stay was comfortable. We couldn't have asked for a better holiday house - we want to go back which is the best recommendation of all.

“Well appointed house in an idyllic setting for a family holiday”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2011

The house was nestled into the bush in close proximity to the beautiful island beach, creating a wondeful environment for our families holiday. Relations had travelled from France and they left with the most beautiful souvenirs of Kangaroo Island.

Response from the owner Thank you for your comments, international guests are always blown away by the natural beauty of Kangaroo Island,

“Home away from home”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2011

We have stayed at this property multiple times because we love it! Even in winter. The view and warm open fire so appealing. So cosy and homely. It's very clean, well set up for a family, machine and clothes line, so close to the beach for fishing, relaxation. Fantastic all round. Our home away from home.

Response from the owner Thank you for your great review, we love it in winter just as much as summer. Hope you have you and the family back again soon.

“Great holiday for everyone”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2011

We enjoyed a week of fun filled relaxation at Island Beach Escape. The facilities were far in excess of what we ever expected and the location was great with amazing views over the water from both the house and the deck. We had many memorable meals, taking in the view, wildlife and serenity. The kids had a ball. The water was clean and safe and the beach white and sandy. We would definitely go back there.

Response from the owner Thanks for your great review. We are thrilled you and the kids had such a good time at Island Beach Escape. It certainly is a magic place to chill out. We would love to have you back anytime
