“Loved Lobster Cottage”
We stayed at Lobster Cottage in Kinsale during our visit to Ireland in June 2013, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner, Mary, was friendly, accommodating, and put a great deal of care into the property. It had everything we needed for our family of five from Canada, including a well equipped kitchen. The decor was bright and cheerful, and everything was very clean and tidy. The location is also quite good. The cottage faces the water and all the pleasant marine life that comes with it, but it's also a short walk to the heart of Kinsale and all the unique shops, restaurants and pubs to be found there. We loved that parking was included though we really did not need a car to enjoy the area. We also recommend the Milk Market Cafe for very good food, at very reasonable prices. In short, you'll love Kinsale. It's absolutely charming and picturesque. The Lobster Cottage added the finishing touch to this beautiful and friendly town. Response from the owner Thanks for all the stays, see you again hopefully.
Last minute stay in Kinsale on recommendation from friends who had stayed there on a previous vacation. We also stayed two nights in Tipperary at abbeyvale house B&B; also owned by Mary and Ed. We enjoyed our holiday in Ireland spending Christmas at a Cork hotel. Kinsale town is excellent for sailing, walking and food- the fish and chips are amazing! I would recommend a holiday in Kinsale. Also to add, Tipperary is mid way between Dublin and the South West, making this an ideal rest and recuperation area between airports and ferry ports.
Response from the owner Thanks anytime, delighted you enjoyed. Mary & Ed
We couldn't have picked a better location. Right on the water with lovely views, just a few minutes of pleasant walk into beautiful, historical, very interesting Kinsale, and a great base for wonderful day trips. The off-road parking was greatly appreciated. By the way, the fish in Kinsale is second to none - an absolute joy (especially at Fishy Fishy). Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet Mary but dealing with her on the phone and through e-mail was a pleasure as she was so helpful and accommodating.
Response from the owner Thanks for the nice words, sorry we did not meet, but hopefully the next time, It was outside my control, I do like to meet and greet all guests.
A lovely cottage in a perfect location with everything a family needs, clean & tidy, 3 bedrooms, 2 showerooms, good kitchen with appliances, adjacent private parking and the perfect location to visit the wonderful pubs and restaurants which are just a 10 minutes walk into the town, must recommend Jim Edwards. It is also a fantastic touring base with a good road network for touring the southwest of Ireland and if you've got the time the ring of Kerry as well. Many Thanks to Mary & Ed for accomodating us and thanks for the kind words when needed, it meant a lot.
Response from the owner Glad you both could continue with your plans and enjoy Ireland for your holiday after getting the bad news, kinds words do help everybody.
“Lobster Cottage was great and the location is awesome!”
We rented Lobster Cottage for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was clean and comfortable and accomodated our pary of 6 perfectly. We loved being able to walk to town, but the location was also a great base for taking day trips throughout the countryside to see the sights. Mary was terrific and made the rental process and everything about our stay easy. She was also very helpful and kind enough to answer our many questions. Mary was a delight and Lobster Cottage was wonderful. I would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
Response from the owner Thanks for all the nice comments. Mary
“Great location, wonderful town”
I booked this property for the stopover of the Clipper round the world race as my husband was a crew member. The owner was very helpful and we were able to add extra days at short notice. Lobster cottage is much bigger than it looks and 5 of us were very comfortable. Everything was fresh and new and we I can't think of anything extra that would have been needed. Kinsale is a brilliant town and an easy short walk along the harbour front. The pubs and restaurants are numerous and we had many good meals and nights out. Something for everyone. It was great being able to park the car at the cottage and do everything on foot. We explored the countryside, going down to Mizen head (on the one rainy day!) and checked out the local beaches. My son played golf and said it was one of the best courses he'd seen. Cork is only a short drive away if you like the city. I'd love to go back.
Response from the owner Thanks Mary and Family .
“Great location when we took part in the sailing competition.”
I booked Lobster Cottage when my husband and daughter took part in the sailing competition there was 6 in the family and we all travelled from belfast.. Kinsale is a hive of activity and we received a very warm welcome at the club house. The only disadvantage the weather was not so good. I spent my day walking and cycling the area and having the occasional chat and glass of wine. The house is well equipped, comfortable, and the patio was in full bloom with nice flowers, where on a few mornings we could sit and have coffee, while watching the boats go by. No point been in Kinsale without the views, it is truly a magical place, no wonder it is linked to antibees in France.
Response from the owner Time for another entry to a competition guys. Mary
The location was a prime fact, the water was across the street, the town had many restaurants and shops all in walking distance of the cottage. By car you were close to many historical sights with a day trip. The cottage was charming with lots of room and all the conveniences you could want. We had a great vacation and would definitely rent again.
Response from the owner From Mary and Ed Thanks for all the pictures you sent to me of your trip to Ireland on the CD. Look forward to your next trip to Cork and of course Tipperary to home of your late mother Kate Hayes.
What a wonderful place to stay! Lobster Cottage is beautifully decorated and still comfortable. There were five of us, my husband and I, our 21 year old son and my parents, and did not feel at all cramped. We felt right at home. The proprietors are very accommodating and knowledgeable. We were in Ireland visiting family and spent several days here. The location was perfect, right across the street from the river. There is even a boat ride that you can take that offers lots of historical information. It is an easy walk into one of the most charming towns I have ever visited. We would travel about the country during the day and then get home, have a relaxing glass of wine and walk into town for a wonderful dinner. The town has much to offer with great food and welcoming pubs. We plan to return and spend the summer in this very home.
Response from the owner Thank you so much for all of the nice words and kind thoughts. We would love to have you back and offer another cead mile failte to you and your family. The picture of you all outside the Greyhound pub is one for the web site. Thanks Mary & ED.
