“An excellent holiday destination with the best accomodation”
We travelled to KI for 4 nights and stayed at Birubi with two young children 6 and 3yrs old. We found KI to be peaceful and without crowds, many lovely beaches. Birubi is located at the best spot on KI with just 200mtr from Emu Bay which is calm and shallow with pelicans and plenty of open park area for the kids. The highlights of KI were Admirals Arch, Remarkable Rocks, Flinders Chase, Castle, DeEstress Bay, Vivonne Bay, Lighthouse, we saw pelicans, seals, many birds, kangaroos and lots of sheep. Birubi is exceptionally well equipped accommodation kept in excellent condition with plenty of room for the family, you really feel at home staying here, we certainly didn't want to leave. We were well prepared, however we really appreciated the extra mile Marg and Art go to in the upkeep of this property and even loaning us a boogie board for the kids. We drove the dirt roads which we were amazed how well graded and signposted they were, we didn't get lost once - It a big island and it takes about an hour or more to drive to most of the attractions. You can reduce some travel time by going on the dirt roads. We hired a car which just happened to turn out to be an SUV however the dirt roads were fine for most vehicle types. We find an early start driving to the attractions was best. All of the parks and facilities were very clean, modern and free for picnics etc I'm looking forward to booking my next stay here, We all loved KI and there was plenty to do and see and great if you are sick of the riff raff in places like the gold coast and many other overloaded tourist destinations.
“So relaxing we wish we'd stayed longer”
We stayed at Birubi for two nights. We found the place very clean and very well equipped. Huge balcony facing the bay meant we could just sit one the deck, sip wine and enjoy the peacefulness of KI. The bay was lovely and the water calm and warm. Emy Bay does not have any shops, so one must be prepared and ensure their food supplies are well-stocked as the nearest shops are 15-20min away in Kingscote. Thanks to Margaret for the beautiful house..we had a fantastic stay!
“Beautiful place both emu bay and accommodation”
Beautiful place both emu bay and accommodation! Looking at the other places to stay on the island this was the pick of the bunch!
“So comfortable, exceptionally clean and spacious!”
We stayed in the Birubi House (not the apartments pictured) for 4nights. Although older than the apartments which were my first choice (but they were already booked) the house was much more comfortable than we expected from the photos. It was exceptionally clean and had everything a family or group could need. So spacious it felt like coming back to your own home after a day of sightseeing, but cleaner! We travelled as a family of 5 including my husband and I, our 16mth old toddler and my parents. 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms was perfect so my toddler could sleep in her own room and there was plenty of room to play. Electric blankets on both queen size beds was a must as the nights were cold as was the reverse cycle heating in the early morning and evenings. The couch was really comfy too. The bath was also great for my toddler. The porta cot and highchair provided were very clean and comfortable and the extra cot bedding much appreciated on the cold nights. We cooked most of our meals at the house after food shopping in Penneshaw and Kingscote (the supermarket shuts at 6pm). Prices were more expensive so if you have room in your vehicle to bring supplies from adelaide I'd recommend it. Emu Bay was very picturesque and only a 15min drive from Kingscote which we found convenient to visit the whole Island. Emu Bay was a lot less windy and warmer than Kingscote too. We particularly enjoyed Remarkable Rocks, Red Banks, Seal Bay, the walk up Prospect Hill, Pennington Bay, the walk through the rocks to Stokkes Bay (and the surprisingly good food and big servings at the Rockpool Cafe). Also admirals arch and Emu Bay Lavender, Island Honey abd Emu Ridge Eucalyptus. I recommend phoning ahead as a couple of cafe's recommended in the visitor's guide were closed when we got there (American River and KI lavender). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on KI and the hospitality of art and Margaret owners of Birubi House!
“Great Holiday Home in Emu Bay, KI”
We stayed here for 2 nights with 3 adults and 2 children. It was a lovely modern house with great views and more than enough space. Would definitely recommend. Marg was very welcoming and easy to contact to arrange arrival etc.
“Views! Views! And more”
Lovely modern home, comfortable beds and lovely views over a quiet beachside location
“Lovely ,very clean, quiet a beautiful place to stay . Central loc”
We shared with another couple , 4 adults Emu Bay is a beautiful location , it is close to Eating places and a reasonable distance to all attractions on Kangaroo Island . It was our second visit to Birubi appartments We love the location , the hosts are welcoming and helpful . It is a beautiful modern home I would recommend it to anyone for value and position a truly great relaxing holiday
“Excellent Property in Great Location”
This is an absolutely fabulous place to stay. The 3 bedroom apartment was impeccably clean, modern and has great facilities. The view of the ocean from the balcony is absolutely lovely. There is nothing I could fault with this property. Great location (15mins from Kingscote) - quiet. Will definitely be staying there again at some stage.
“Modern tranquility with a great location”
This brand new apartment has every amenity anyone could need on Kangaroo Island - a great beach, a location within reach of all the activities KI has to offer, a well equipped kitchen in which to cook Ki's glorious local produce, and a friendly and welcoming owner next door. Our Birubi apartment was truly a home away from home part way through our 6 week australian adventure. Thank you Marg!
“What a fantastic place to stay”
We absolutely loved our stay at Birubi apartment B. We stayed for a week with some interstate friends and we're so comfortable in this huge and luxurious apartment. The uninterrupted view of Emu Bay was beautiful and could be enjoyed from both inside and outside. The huge and we'll equipped kitchen made getting meals at night a pleasure and we had the barbie downstairs to use as well. Beautiful, large bedrooms and bathrooms and a great fully equipped laundry downstairs. We found easy access to all parts of the Island from this property. The property owner was friendly and helpful and from 4 very happy tenants we say a big thank you. Will be recommending this one!!
