This was our sixth stay in seven years...beautiful view, very nice cabin, everything you need, 65"tv,cable & wifi to silverware. Motorcycle friendly access road. We enjoy every minute.

“A return trip is a must”
This cabin was perfect. The pics do not do it justice. Very quiet neighborhood. Friendly neighbors. We saw deer crossing the water below. Loved the fireplace inside and using the outdoor fire-pit to make s'mores. The one down side was having our vacation come to an end.
Response from the owner Thank you Jenna.
My wife and I decided to celebrate our forty seventh wedding anniversary in Murphy, staying at Nottley River Retreat. The cabin was clean and neat. The yard was well kept. Most of all the place was very quiet and peaceful. We really liked it. There was a hot tub available but we didn't use it. The neighbors were nice and friendly. This cabin is a great place to stay for a couple or small family.
Response from the owner Thank you Ken for the review. Take care and be safe!
“Hated to leave the Nottley River Retreat”
Stayed one week at the Nottley River Retreat near Murphy, North Carolina. Enjoyed every minute and did not want to leave. Home has everything you could wish for. Views from back porch are breathtaking! Paved road up the mountain to home is a plus. Birds are everywhere thanks to the well placed bird feeders. Could not believe the lightshow each night from the lighting bugs. Numerous day outings within one hour from cabin. Comfortable seating and bedding. Kitchen fully equipped. Best phone and TV reception ever! Highly recommend and looking forward to next visit.
We had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful cabin in February during a snow storm. We couldn't have asked for a more cozy, relaxing experience. The trees along the river were beautiful covered in snow. The owner was wonderful to deal with and was able to accomodate an extra night on very short notice so we could get there before the storm. The cabin is very nice, clean and well stocked. After the weather cleared we ventured out and discovered Downtown Bakery and had a great lunch. My husband and I like to take mini vacations to the mountains several times a year and both agree that this was one of our favorite trips.
We can't say enough good things about this cabin! From the time you pull up to the door and see the spectacular views of the mountains and river, and then once you open the door, the cabin feels like home. Beautifully decorated and has everything you would need. The owners are wonderful! We wish our stay was longer! and only hope we can return!
“I didn't want to leave.”
The view was amazing and I was relaxed the moment I entered the cabin. It was very clean and comfortable. I will definitely stay again. The only issue I had was with the mattress in the master bedroom. It wasn't very comfortable, but that was the only negative there was.
“Tranquility- takes you away from the rat race”
This is the 4th time we stay at the cabin, it is always perfect. Clean, comfortable and relaxing. We plan on staying next year. I would rate this a 10 star excellent. I loved the fireplace. Remote controlled. The fire pit was outstanding. The bed is so comfortable. I love having a garage with a remote for my Durango. The table on the porch is the best to sit and watch the wildlife and hearing the river below. The view is outstanding. I have a high stress job, when I go this cabin I just relax. We have rented many cabins but this is the best cabin ever as you can tell we have stayed 4 times and planning a 5th. It close to everything. A huge thank you to Butch and Carolyn for sharing your wonderful cabin.
We loved the cabin and the views from the porch. Cabin had everything you needed to make you feel right at home. Was very sad to leave. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home with us!
“peace, beauty, and serenity”
I stayed in this cabin for a week while attending a class at John P. Campbell Folk Art School. It was a 25 min. drive from the cabin to the school. If you're not going to stay on campus, this is the place to be. How can I quickly describe the beauty, serenity, and peacefulness of this cabin? You'd just have to experience it. The memories I made here will last a lifetime. As an added plus this cabin is extremely safe as you have your own attached enclosed garage with opener. Although alone all week, I felt 100 percent safe. It is surrounded by many full time resident homes, not just rentals. Unless you're just looking to see a neighbor, you'll never know there's anyone for miles around you. I will look forward to again experiencing : the aroma of my morning coffee at sunrise on the back porch, melting into my evening glass of wine on the porch as I gently rock in my rocking chair, breathing in the scents of fall while surveying the jaw dropping views across the river and beyond from my picnic table on the back porch, submerging my tired, achy body into the warm of the luxury hot tub each evening, listening to the abundant birds and other wildlife play and feed from the multiple feeders just off the porch and on the patio overlooking the river
