“We got it all and more”
What a delightful home to spend the week in. From the "Nantucket" feeling coming up the drive to the ambiance of the interior of the home, this house ranks a 10. Lauren and Ron are very accommodating. 5 couples in this house with lots of room to spare. Brian Cullen from rawbar yoho serves up a fantastic clambake, the back patio of the house allowed for plenty of room for that! Bicycles were delivered and we traveled along the bike paths nearby. Don't miss an opportunity to stay in this charming home and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Nantucket countryside while being just 15 minutes outside of downtown.
Response from the owner You and your globe-trotting crew certainly knew how to fill every minute of your stay with fun. It seemed like the Island served as a perfect backdrop to your weeklong celebration of long time friends, loving couples and years of exciting journeys. Glad Nantucket got to fill a little page in your long running journal of exploration. -- And Brian and his traveling rawbar was a great discovery and one we'll happily recommend to other guests.
“Luxurious, comfortable home with fantastic hosts!”
I stayed in this gorgeous home with ten close friends for our good friend's wedding weekend. Our experience was superb! The real treat was that the house is utterly perfect for groups. The house has stunning and secluded outdoor space--we played lawn games, grilled, sunbathed, read, and ate outside all weekend long in what felt like a private island oasis. The Widow's Walk offered views of the ocean, stars, and surrounding maritime forest. Cooking for a large group was throughly enjoyable in the high-end and well-equipped kitchen. The house is open and conducive to socializing, but large enough that smaller groups were able to convene in separate sitting areas. All the rooms were beautiful with comfortable beds and bedding--no one felt that they'd gotten the short end of the stick. As a light sleeper, I appreciated the house's many doors, which allowed the night owls and early risers to sleep peacefully. Finally, our hosts were wonderful! They greeted us warmly and ensured that we had everything we needed. I left some important items at the house and Lauren generously shipped them to me the following day. This was my first time in Nantucket and I'd be thrilled to stay at this house again!
Response from the owner When people think about the Island, some focus on the old Historic Town and some just on the beaches - it sounds like you found out how nice it is to be out more in the 'countryside' -- surrounded by the "Serengeti" (the vast protected moorland just minutes from the house), an easy bike ride from the lovely village of 'Sconset, and on a piece of land large enough to allow for readers and soccer players, bbq-ers, snoozers and birdwatchers to all be able to enjoy together. We're so glad that you made it to Nantucket, that you had a wonderful weekend, and that you were happy at 'Incandescence'! We look forward to seeing you back at the house again.
“We loved Incandescence and recommend this property!”
My friends and I planned a couples get away to nantucket and we chose Incandescence for our stay. The house was amazing, the owners were very easy to work, with and we would recommend this house (and the guest house on the property) to anyone that was looking to vacation in Nantucket. There were 5 couples and 4 children under 3 years old...not an easy group to accomidate, but the house was perfect for all of our needs. We were able to close the doors to the kitchen so that we would not disturb the sleeping children. We listened to music, cooked and ate dinner, none of us are quiet people, and not a single child heard us. There is even a second living room with an additional set of doors to keep the sound out of the rest of the house, this was perfect for post dinner games, The rooms were perfect and everything was in immaculate condition. The master bathroom is verty impressive, we loved the balcony, tub and walk in shower. Note: the tub is not huge, but it can take two normal sized people. The shower was amazing, but you will go through all the hot water pretty quickly if you turn on all the features. Finally, the deck and the yard are perfect for relaxing and getting some sun. Oh and almost forgot, we used and loved the grill. It is right off the kitchen so it is perfectly placed. We can not say enough good things about this place. We went with families for this trip, but I would have booked this house in a heartbeat for a single large family or for couples without kids.
Response from the owner Thanks so much for your great words about Incandescence! We have heard from other people that the layout of the house -- and all of those doors, in particular -- makes it a great place for a large group of friends or family who might not always keep the same schedule, have the same musical tastes, or even take their 'nappies' at the same time! Part of the reason the different parts of the house can feel so private is that the house actually evolved over a period of time to its present layout. Where those doors are now, there might have once been walls or closets or windows. Like they used to add the 'warts' - those tiny additions on the old fishermans' shanties in 'Sconset - we pretty much kept adding and altering until we got it... well... perfect! Or, at least, very comfortable for groups like yours. Thanks again for visiting! It will be great to see you back again.
“Ladies Weekend in Paradise”
Incanenscence is truly paradise. We pulled up to the house and could not believe or eyes. The house and property is truly amazing. The owners were quick to respond to our messages from the very beginning with planning. The house has many rooms, and all the necessities of home. Only 4 miles away from downtown. We had an amazing time. Everything was clean. The grill and side yard was perfect during the day. We are already trying to plan our next Girls weekend to come back!
Response from the owner Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. We hear from many guests that their first reaction is that the house is even prettier than the pictures. We love that compliment! Looking forward to your next visit.
“Charming peaceful getaway!”
Incandescence is really the name for this gorgeous home on the beautiful island of Nantucket. The house has gorgeous little touches in every room and it is a wonderful place to relax. The owners are so welcoming and friendly. You are sure to enjoy yourself here.
Response from the owner We're so glad that you and your friends were able to make it out to the house to pre-celebrate your celebration! BBQ, cocktails and daffodils on the back deck in the warm May sunshine -- sounds like the endless winter really IS finally behind us.
“Great Vacation Home Huge Beautiful Great Location!!!”
We stayed in this house in July 2014 and it was perfect! The house has the most gorgeous woodwork I have ever seen and the tilework is fabulous as well! It is a wide open bright airy floor plan and has beautiful furnishings as well. The location is perfect, close to quiet beautiful beaches and central to many things, including the downtown and a wonderful bakery. Don't hesitate to stay in this house, we want to come back every year.
“Wonderful relaxing. Home away from home”
Great house Well fit out for travelers Comfortable Tasteful Good hosts
“The perfect vacation”
Our family of 10 had an amazing week at "Incondescence." The house is not just beautiful. but really so comfortable. There was a special corner for everyone. The owners are both very attentive and responsive and made our stay even better than our usual Nantucket week. The take out suggestions and restaurant recommendations, especialy for seafood and kids were terrific. We hope to return. Judy and allan, Wilmington, De
“Great Guys Weekend”
Great house and owners, very easy to deal with and the house was exactly as described. Great yard for outdoor activities, and a lot of space in the main area of the house.
My whole family stayed at this beautiful house summer 2011 - including my family of 5, my parents and my mother-in-law as well as my babysitter. The house was more than spacious - with lots of bathrooms (always an important factor for me). When we walked into the house everyone was so surprised because it was even more beautiful than the pictures relayed. The owners are extremely accommodating and very helpful with great tips on places to go and see on the island. We wanted to go back this past summer but unfortunately it don't work out for personal reasons. We have no doubt that we will get back to Nantucket and only hope that this house is available!
