“A very comfortable cabin in a beautiful area”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2015

We enjoyed a peaceful and quiet 4th at this very cute cabin. It's well taken care of and was just what I wanted! What a great weekend. I wish it could have lasted longer!

Response from the owner Jeri and I are please that you enjoyed our "Cedar Log Cabin" in the woods. We hope you can visit us again soon.

“Great cabin, great amenities, great location”

Reviewed 2 Feb 2015

We came to the cabin with 2 families (4 adults and 5 kids) and our experience was wonderful. The cabin is clean and functional and the location is great. From initial communication to using the cabin to dropping off the keys, every step is well laid out and has been thought through. For someone like us, that have never been to Bear Valley, it helped make the weekend focused on having fun vs figuring everything out.

Response from the owner Marco & Maria, Thank yo for your kind review. So glad that you enjoyed your first trip to beautiful Bear Valley. You need to come back in the summer when it is equally beautiful. Bear Valley has it's own lake which is wonderful for fishing, swimming, or laying on the beach.

“Great comfortable cabin”

Reviewed 5 Mar 2014

We were 2 families with 3 kids each and this cabin easily slept us all. The cabin had everything we needed including wood for the fireplace. Also, the mattresses were really nice and not worn out like you sometimes may find in rentals. Gary is really friendly and was quick at responding to our many questions over email. Please notice that you cannot drive to the cabin in the winter time. Gary had pointed this out to us, but we figured we could easily walk our stuff to the cabin and had not booked any snowmobile taxis. It is probably an easy 5 minute walk in the summer time, but with deep snow on the ground, slight uphill and snowstorm it took us 10 minutes - and remember you probably have to go several times to your car. We managed even with tired 3years old twins, but next time we will consider the snowmobile :-) We will definitely be back.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review. There is also inexpensive snow shuttle service available when the roads are groomed. And remember,, you can drive in and park in the paved driveway when the snow is gone.

“Charming, Well-Appointed, Cozy Log Cabin in a Great Location”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2013

Loved the cabin. Everything was perfect. All the comforts of home but with great mountain ambience. Super comfortable beds, everything updated, immaculate, well-stocked with everything you need. Short walk to Bear Valley Village shops and restaurants. We stayed in late March in a bad snow year. Cross-country skiing was still good, downhill icy/slushy, so the downhillers in our group drove a half hour down the mountain to golf in arnold. Can't think of many places where you can ski and golf in the same day! We spent one afternoon and evening in charming Murphys, wine-tasting and had a fantastic dinner at Grounds. Gary and Jeri are wonderful, responsive rental owners, in my experience, much better to work with than rental companies. The only thing that was a bit of a hassle was the fact that you can't drive right to the cabin in winter months, when the roads are "groomed" for ski-in access - not plowed. When I called to make a reservation with the snowmobile transport people just off the cabin parking lot at Bear, I was told the cabin was practically right off the parking lot - to just walk to the cabin and get the two sleds on the front porch, load up our stuff and pull the sleds to the cabin. Trudging through the snow, dragging the ice chest and luggage-laden sleds was not easy, but we got some great exercise. I would highly recommend using the transport service to get in and out of the cabin during the winter (I believe the cost is around $25 each way). Or, if you have multiple couples or families who can split the cost of renting a snowmobile...that would be the best scenario. If you don't have a snowmobile, be prepared to do some walking in the snow from cabin to parking lot/facilities. Still, we didn't find it a huge hassle. We would definitely rent the cabin again in winter or summer. Love the area. So much to do, so beautiful. Thank you Gary and Jeri.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for your great review. You are certainly welcome back anytime. Come back this summer and watch the wildflowers grow from the back deck. Very relaxing!

“A Weekend Reminiscing”

Reviewed 8 Mar 2013

This is a long overdue review of our two night stay back in august 2011. We live in the Bay area but are very familiar with Bear Valley and the surrounding area. We needed overnight accommodations in order to attend a memorial service for a dear friend who had resided in Bear Valley in the 1980's. We were looking for space for 6 adults and found this lovely cabin on FlipKey. Owner Gary was quick to communicate and booking was easy. The place is easy to find (summertime) and within walking distance of the Lodge and gas station services. The cabin has just about anything and everything you could need - the owners have done a great job in providing all the amenities a renter could every need. Morning coffee on the back deck had a zen quality - the backyard was filled to the brim with wildflowers, butterflies, chirping birds and glorious sun. We had forgotten how quiet it is in the high mountains and how many stars are visible in the night sky. We had a wonderful stay reminiscing with old friends and this comfortable cabin made it all the more memorable. We are looking forward to booking this gem again! Thank You Gary and Jeri!

Response from the owner Thank you Bob & Leslie for your nice comments. Hope you can stay with us again sometime. I too love the summers on the deck. We are already getting bookings for this sumer.

“Wintervacation at this cabin”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2013

This is our third time at the Bear Valley Cedar Log Cabin and we love it. This house has everything one needs to feel at home, its clean and cozy. Its location is also fantastic since its close to the parking and stores in winter. In addition we never need to use the car, since we could go snowshoeing directly from the house and for skying we went with the bus. We really had a great time. The Ruttimann Family

Response from the owner Thank you Pierina for your positive comments. We love it when young families enjoy our little part of paradice as much as our extended family does. We are starting to get summer bookings. Let me know if you are interested in any particular dates this summer.

“as fun in winter as in summer!!!”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2012

We stayed last February in this great cabin and rented it again this summer. We had blast! Besides the kitchen that has everything 8 people would need, we also enjoyed the blow up boat to peddle on the alpine Lake. One just needs to bring up food and clothes, all the rest is ready to use in the house. We love it up there!

Response from the owner Thanks Pierina, Glad you also enjoyed a summer retreat at beautiful Bear Valley. I have you booked for February 2013.

“Great Family Place!!”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2012

Our family staid at this lovely cabin for a week this last Christmas. The cabin was perfect for us. It had everything that we needed for our stay, very comfortable. We felt at home. The location was perfect, walking distance to the Bear Valley Village. I can't wait until we can stay there again. Fun Family environment. Bonnie and Mike

Response from the owner Thanks for your great review Bonnie. I have you booked for next Christmas. I hope you won't have as many accidents then!

“Feels like home”

Reviewed 19 Jun 2011

The log construction gives the cabin so much character and combined with the decorating makes it a very cozy house. It is extremely clean and everything is organized so that you don't have any problems finding what you need. Bear Valley is a beautiful place. I like the hiking, kayaking, swimming or just sitting on the beach. The cabin is so cute, though, I'd be happy reading a book and staying inside all day!

“Enjoy a beautiful, rustic cabin in paradise!”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2011

I've stayed in this cabin at least 20 times over the years and obviously find it to be a perfect base of operations, regardless of my proposed level of activity. It has all the amenities needed for summer and winter and is wonderfully comfortable and beautifully rustic. It has a great lay-out for families; activities in the living room do not disturb anyone trying to sleep! The surrounding area is absolutely gorgeous and is never crowded, even at the height of tourist season. You have to see and experience it to believe it!!
