“Obviously loves to have guests - more than a B&B”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2015

The owner provided an experience not just a B&B. Extended his hospitality well beyond expectation providing knowledge of the area, suggesting places to see, restaurants to visit and invited us to get together with fellow Canadians living in the area to experience one of their favourite real mexican restaurants. Truly made us feel at home and I hope we will visit him again.

“Lovely, excellent location, peaceful, very attentive host”

Nicely designed and built house, very Mexican feel to the architecture. Why go to Mexico to stay in a typical US/Canadian house? 2 things are key: you are located within easy walking distance to the village and beach but you can retreat from the hubbub to the quiet of the house, pool and verandas whenever you need to. And your host is an old hand in the area and will show you the best beaches, restaurants, etc. He is like having a favorite Uncle in town who looks out for you and makes sure you have a good time.

“Awesome, says it all!!”

Norman, the owner and proprietor, is a host extraordinaire. He truly enjoys people, and treated us as "long lost best-friends". He enjoys serving his guests with a meticulously prepared breakfast. The Hacienda is spacious, inviting, and well decorated in South-of-the-border style. We spent 5 enjoyable days as Norman's guests on the occasion of our 50-th wedding anniversary, and spent many hours lazing about in the Hacienda, splitting our time between the various verandas and the swimming pool. The Hacienda is located in a residential area in San Jose del Cabo yet is within easy reach of shopping, restaurants, and the old town village. Every restaurant that Norman recommended was a keeper. We've found a place we'll definitely return to on our next Cabo trip.

Response from the owner just a great couple,we all had a very nice holiday, Cheers, Norman

“Relaxing & Fun”

This was our second stay at Hacienda de Cortez and for good reason, the location is stellar as is the home. We love the views from the cantina, the kitchen area is spectacular, and the patio is great for sunrise with coffee. We especially enjoy the rooms, it's great to fall asleep with the muffled sound of surf and wake up to birdsong. Very comfortable room, bed and bath really make for a great stay. We appreciate how close the Hacienda is to San Jose, an easy walk to the old town centre, lots of restaurants and the nearby estuary. We like to be able to walk to the amenities, they are so close. The owner will your stay wonderful, as will the great views and home. We do not often go back to the same place, but we readily did so here. Highly recommended.

“Peaceful, Fun and Tranquil”

Norman, your host, is much more then an innkeeper, he is a friend, tour guide, chef, host, advisor.. And a very patient man.. (Thanks for hanging in there on the house tours!). We had the best stay and can confirm the other comments on previous reviews. The location is spectacular, and we appreciated that is just far enough away to be quiet, but easy walking to everything, including the beach, centre of town, and some really great restaurants. We felt very welcome in Norman's home, and equally welcome around town. It was very easy to laugh and have fun here.. Lots to do and see. Highly recommended for a B&B; stay, which we prefer over resorts and all inclusives. I found myself looking forward to the get together at sunset in Norman's Cantina.. Cold beer, warm weather, great view.. Wonderful holiday! Enjoyed our combined dinner's as well, fun to stay in and cook up great meals. If you visit, see if you can find Seeattee while your there... Thanks Norman! Hope we stay again..

“Great place to stay, with the best host, ever!”

The best vacation accommodations ever experienced! Very inviting, comfortable and tastefully decorated, with so much space especially for our family of 7, plus 2 visiting family members who live in San Jose Del Cabo (aages ranging from 18 to 89). This was the perfect place! Room for each of us to do our own thing, whether sitting at the Cantina bar, patio, kitchen or living room; accessing the Internet, or enjoying the gorgeous views of sunrises and sunsets and full moon, birds and listening to the geckos. From the moment he picked us up at the airport, the funny and charming owner/host Norman Trottier was like visiting family. His breakfasts and a fish dinner were fantastic, and he and our whole family fixed one meal together. The location was great for access to town, the shopping areas and restaurants, and about a half hour walk to the beach and the estuary. What I loved most was the homey and relaxing feeling, that I do not find in a hotel. We would definitely stay they again, and highly recommend it, for couples, to large families like ours.

“Wonderful Los Cabos getaway”

We just got back from a wonderful relaxing 4 nites in San Jose del cabo. The Hacienda is a large beautiful house overlooking the sea of Corezand golf course. The views were amazing. It has a good location to golf, the beach, town just a short walk away. Norman made great breakfast every morning and other goodies for us. He is an axcellent host. We are missing Norman and the Hacienda already. We would definately recommend.

“Very nice place - super location.”

We were 2 families from Canada and stayed for 2 weeks at Hacienda de Cortez. We had an excellent vacation and recommend this place to friends. Norman, the owner and host, was very helpful in finding interesting things to do and got our vacation started right away with his good advice. The breakfasts in the morning were great. The house has a great location, super view of the ocean, and is close to shopping and the Mega.
