Reviewed 5 May 2015

Manicured ranch location. Astounding interior with 14 foot ceilings.Beautiful 360 degree views. CLEAN!! Comfortable beds.Steam shower and lots of towels.Well equipped kitchen. OUTSIDE GRILL and picnic table. We enjoyed watching the activities of a professional equestrian school from our loft "perch".. YOU WON'T BE. DISAPPOINTED!

Response from the owner Thank you so much for your generous review. I am so glad you had a wonderful time as that is my goal is for everyone to enjoy the ranch!

“What an amazing Place to stay while on Vacation.”

Reviewed 28 Feb 2014

Francie, My wife april, our Boys Owen and Luke had the most wonderful time on your ranch. It started off kind of uncertain with the plumber messing up your broiler but without missing a beat you had a backup plan and placed us in your guest house. What an amazing place you have. Our boys enjoyed the wide open space to run and not to worry about traffic. Your bloodhounds greeted us every morning and then left to assist with your chores. Very nicely located, we visited the Mesa Verde and the 4 Corners area and rode the Train and drove to Silverton. And wehn we came back relaxed in your jaccuzzi. I want to thank you so much for this great experience. The boys didn't want to leave and said good bye to your place as we exited the property. We are looking forward to possibly staying with you again, Sincerely Jason Hunter Edgewood, NM

Response from the owner Thank you Jason for the lovely review and it was great to have you and your family on the ranch and I am glad it all worked out so well. My boiler is now working well thank goodness. Looking forward to your next visit with your boys and I am sure Pluto and Blueberry are too! Best, Francie

“Awesome stay!”

What an absolutely awesome place! The views were phenomenal. The loft was well appointed and immaculate. Unique, spacious, and comfortable lodging at a fraction of the cost of a boring hotel. Francie was a very helpful hostess, but also very unobtrusive. I highly recommend a visit to this ranch!

Response from the owner Thank you Montina for a lovely review. It is much appreciated and helps HD Ranch tremendously. Please come back and visit!

“Home away from home”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2011

My husband & I were looking for something a little different as we would be touring the state of Colorado with two young children and knew we would get burned out on hotels. Hd Ranch fit just our needs! We weren't cramped into a small room with 2 beds. We had room and lots of it both inside and out. The bed was very comfortable and the kids slept all night long in the bunks - so they obviously slept great too! We were able to grill and cook which was also a nice change from eating out again. Francie and James are very hospitable and our only complaint would be that we were only there for 2 nights. We used the ranch as a base location and made a short drive over to Mesa Verde. If you are going to be in the Durango area and are looking for a place to stay you really shouldn't pass this place up. There's lots to do in the area - sight seeing, hiking, skiing, cross country skiing/snow shoeing, etc. I know if we ever travel back to this area we will certainly be trying to book a place here again. Thanks so much Francie and James. It was so nice visiting with you. Your hospitality was top notch!

“Refreshing and relaxing location. A real standout.”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2011

For us,the barn loft was the standout of the 11 locations from our month on the road. We really enjoyed meeting Francie and enjoyed our stay at the HD Ranch. We think about it often. For the first time the accommodations and decor were actually better than the photos looked...and the photos looked pretty darn good. Second bedroom with the built-in desk is great for doing a little work when needed. WiFi and all. The floor to ceiling built-in storage provided more than enough space for our stuff. Plus a walk-in closet. Easy to stay here for a month or more. Waking up...with the sun shining in through the floor to ceiling bedroom windows made it easy to greet the morning. It was fun to watch the horses and pet the dogs. The barn cats even made a few evening visits to say hello. The huge shower has a built-in steam room...however we never took the time to figure it out. (We would have traded the steam room for a washer & dryer to avoid spending an afternoon in Durango at launder-mat. No big deal, after all this is a working ranch.) This is a super clean barn. 24 horses in the pastures. No offensive barn odors. No horse flies. No piles of manure. It truly was a refreshing and relaxing visit. We certainly look forward to doing it again.

“Beautiful and Serene”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2011

This place was just as beautiful as the pictures! It was so serene and relaxing. Truly had everything we needed. Enjoyed watching the horses as we had our morning coffee. It is a bit off of the beaten path but definitely worth it! We can't wait to come again.
