“Perfect location in Black Butte, great little cabin has everything you need!”
This great little cabin is the best value in Black Butte. It is near a grove of aspen and a sweet little pond. Very clean. The kitchen is well-appointed with everything you need and the owners are responsive and nice. We will definitely rent this one again! Don't rent this if you're looking for posh accommodations. DO rent this place if you plan primarily to ski and play-- and to enjoy a warm fire, nice meal, and cozy bed upon your return.
“Great cabin, great location”
We know Black Butte well and have going there for about 30 years. This is the first time we rented on the ranch, and it couldn't have been a better experience. Dealing with the owner was hassle-free and prompt. The cabin was as described and easy to manage, sleeping eight comfortably. Although we were in the middle of a heat wave, the cabin remained quite cool (with fans). An awesome experience for our family and friends.
“Perfect location & family friendly rental”
We were surprised by the cleanliness and amenities of Aspen House #8. There was room to sprawl out and enough space for six to seven people comfortably. Would stay again at this rental since it is close to the Glaze Meadow recreation center.
“Cozy cabin in the woods”
We had a wonderful weekend staying in aspen 8! John and Gretchen were very accommodating and made sure we were prepared for our weekend there. The cabin was homey and cozy with comfortable beds. Kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. Our kids loved the "kids" bunk room! There were plenty of working bikes and the cabin was centrally located so we could get to the GM pool quickly and our kids loved exploring around aspen lake. We would stay again!
“Nestled in the Woods...”
We returned to Black Butte after a 10 year hiatus and were wonderfully surprised at the aH8 Property. The cabin was nestled in the woods with deer walking by each morning. Our family of 4 fit comfortably in the cabin and it was perfectly suited for our needs. With three bedrooms and two baths - the kids had space to themselves and we also were able to relax and enjoy. Being so close the the recreation facilities offered the kids freedom of movement around the Ranch itself, and a level of comfort for us as parents. We couldn't have asked for anything better. Everything was very easy - from checking in and out to finding the cabin to closing everything up for the next lucky visitors. The Morris' made our visit fantastic! We will definitely be back in the future and appreciate the opportunity to use this little 'gem' in the woods!
This was a lot of house for the money. It's an older property but it is exceptionally well maintained and the pride in ownership is obvious. It is located in a perfectly central portion of the ranch near all kinds of things to do. We especially enjoyed the really nice bicycles which came with the house. We would definitely like to stay there again.
“Cozy and wonderful location”
Aspen 8 is a great little cabin. It has a nice size deck with a very quiet view of the woods around aspen lake. I love how close it is to the lake without being right on the path! The Morrises are great owners and very fast and helpful in their communications. This cabin is simple but well equipped. Our family of eight has stayed here 3 years now and we look forward to our next visit. Black Butte is so special to us we have been coming to the ranch almost every year since it opened!!;) so peaceful and so much for everyone to do and aspen Lake is my favorite area to stay. Thank you John and Gretchen for being such great hosts!
Only my wife and I went, though there is room for 8. The price was still reasonable. We were there for hot august days, but the cabin stayed nice and cool if you captured the night air and then closed the windows. The kitchen was fully equipped, and the grill is better than mine. The view from the deck and master bedroom is totally private (we saw no one except for a family of deer). Black Butte is such a wonderful place, and this cabin is a great way to enjoy it!
“A memory our family will never forget”
The experience of renting aH8 was flawless. J & G answered all of our bazillion questions promptly (we rented on short notice). They provided all of the information we needed in the mail or placed conveniently in the house. While we stayed there we enjoyed barbeques on the deck, photographing the deer walking by the house, bike riding, relaxing in the Jacuzzi, making puzzles, preparing food in the kitchen, looking like we didn't know what we were doing on the driving range, disc golf, walking/hiking, photographing each other at the nearby pond and enjoying great conversations. J & G had thought of everything. Instructions were clear and placed where we would need them. Starting up and shutting down the house was straight forward. The cable TV and WiFi worked great. Creating family vacations where everyone has something to do and enjoys themselves are hard to do. Ah8 was a rare find that exceeded our expectations and gave us all a memory we will not forget.
“Cozy and Comfortable Getaway House on Black Butte Ranch”
Aspen House 8 was the perfect place for our family of four (2 parents and 2 teens). It was ideally situated a short bike ride away from the Glaze Meadow Recreation Complex (yoga, pool, hot tub, spa, newspapers)and near a network of paved hiking/biking trails that encircled quaint aspen Lake and led to the Big Meadow where the magic of Black Butte Ranch unfolds with stunning views of the Three Sisters, Washington, Three-fingered Jack, Jefferson and Black Butte. Oregon blessed us with monsoon rains for two out of the six days of our stay here so we had plenty of time to enjoy the spacious living room and several toasty fires in the woodstove. The kitchen, though a tad small, was well equipped with working appliances and just about any kitchen gadget one might need. We easily served six guests and the four of us for dinner one night. John and Gretchen Morris were excellent renters. They responded quickly to emails and promptly provided us with the rental agreement, instructions for the amenities in the house and information aboutactivities on the Ranch. The entire rental process was the most seamless we have experienced from online rental websites. We highly recommend this house to others venturing to the Ranch. We will rent from the Morris's again in a heartbeat the next time our extended family gathers at Black Butte.
