“Wonderful property, amazing host!”
Just back from 2 weeks in the south of France including a week at Provence Paradise. We stayed at La Bastide with our 2 adult children and found that the property met our every need. What really made the stay so enjoyable was the care that William took for us: a meal provided the night we arrived, croissants delivered every morning, restaurant recommendations and reservations, arranging outings (including tips on where to park) you name it no detail was too small for William's consideration. You can certainly tell that William genuinely loves caring for his guests. We especially enjoyed the complementary guided trip to the market and cooking class with the Chef back at the main kitchen. We chose Province Paradise because a friend recommended it to us and we would certainly recommend it to anyone ourselves.
No question, Paradise Provence is a five star experience thanks to William and his magnificent accommodations. We traveled with our family of 6 (all adults now) and took home so many wonderful memories of our daily trips to the numerous places which are an easy drive from St. Remy--Cassis, Les Baux, Gordes, Menerbes, Arles, Avignon, Chareauneuf du Pape, etc.-- not to mention our daily walks into St. Remy. William is like having a combination of a tour guide, concierge, father figure, and old friend at your side. He has thought of everything--our villa did not lack one thing from a stocked kitchen,to guide books, to a mobile phone. Of course, the daily arrival of pastries every morning was the icing on the cake. To say the least, we all loved Paradise Provence!
“We hated to leave Provence Paradise”
My wife and I and our college age daughter thoroughly enjoyed a one-week stay at Provence Paradise in April. La Bastide surpassed all of our expectations, and we could not of been more pleased with our stay. Our accommodations were extremely cozy, but it's the wonderful service William provided that will bring us back - he really is an incredible guy. Being newcomers to France, we had many many questions about what to do, where to go, and all types of other questions. William could not have been more accommodating to our needs–he is on a mission to make sure absolutely everybody has a wonderful time in France. We were particularly grateful to William that he, after finding out my wife wasn't sleeping well due to a neck problem, went out of his way to locate and purchase a new pillow that would help her sleep. Good luck getting someone to do that for you at a hotel. Just as helpful to us was hearing where not to go–on more than one occasion William steered us in the right direction and helped us maximize our time in France–he knows not everything you read in the tourist books are necessarily true! For those of who have never been to St. Remy, it is the perfect spot to establish your "home-base" to experience Provence. We took day trips most days to the beautiful villages and wine country surrounding St. Remy. We were captivated by the relaxed pace, fantastic scenery, and kindness of the local citizens. Anyone expecting a "French attitude" will not find it here – at least that was our experience. We particularly enjoyed the easy walk into St. Remy from Provence Paradise for dinner in the evenings (William provides many wonderful recommendations–many you would certainly not otherwise find an your own) St. Remy really is a lovely village–market day on Wednesday was one of our favorite things from our vacation. Many many thanks to William and his staff for making this a most memorable vacation. It is our sincere hope to be back someday.
We were in France to celebrate our 50th anniversary and stayed at La Bastide on a recommendation of a friend. It more that met our expectation and with William as s host, I don't know how our stay could have been better. The accommodations more than met our needs with the full kitchen (and dishwasher) and the washer and dryer allowed us to reduce our packing. We loved the market in Saint Remy, Cassis and Bandol, and the small mountain towns in the Luberon. One of the highlights of our week was the quarry with art projections in Les Baux. William was terrific with directions, recommendations and reservations. He even took us shopping and packed a lunch for us the morning we left. The grounds and staff were superb and we have told all our friends about the place.
Response from the owner FIFTY YEARS is a real accomplishment! We tried to take care of you accordingly... and it was really our pleasure! Each day that our guests enjoy discovering Provence is an occasion of real satisfaction for us! We are only too happy to share with you the results of our own "explorations." At the end of each day, listening to you speak with such enthusiasm of all you saw and did allowed us to relive some our own thrill of discovery. Your visit was WIN-WIN for everyone!
“What a Fantastic Time in Provence!”
We drove to Provence from London and it was great to be greeted by William's daughter and niece when we arrived after such a long drive. They were really warm and helpful and that set the tone for the whole stay. From the warm croissants that William left at our doorstep every morning to the daily helpful hints on the activity of the day, the hospitality extended by William and his team was truly exceptional. We travelled with two young kids (5 year old boy and 15 month old girl) and they had a great time during our two week stay. On day 2 of our stay, William offered to take my son pony riding with his grandkids. We very quickly felt like we were staying with family. William had terrific suggestions to help us make the most of our stay. This was very important since this was our first time in Provence. It was like having a local friend who told you all the little secrets of where to park when going to Cassis for the beach or the best markets to go to. There is quite a bit of kid friendly stuff around. The pool at the property was a favorite but so was the beach at Cassis. The entire day trip to Pont du Gard was a big hit. The whole family enjoyed strolling around small villages such as Les Baux (very close to St Remy) and of course St Remy. We also went to a crocodile farm in Pierrelatte which our son enjoyed (and so did the parents!). We also did a day trip to Chateauneuf du Pape and did some wine tastings but there is also a chocolate factory there where they show you how chocolate is made (some fun activities for the little ones) and they also let you make chocolate. We had a great time staying at Provence Paradise and will definitely will back again.
Response from the owner You people made your own "Fantastic Time." We just facilitated a few of the creature-comfort details. With pleasure! Your long treks in the woods and the mountains were an inspiration to your neighbors in our "hamlet." How you could get four teens up, breakfasted, ready for a new adventure early each morning.... with smiles all around.... was amazing. Around here, we say "chapeau!" We, too, very much enjoyed your stay and hope that you will return and/or send us other great families like yours! Remember all the fun we have planned for 2015! Glad we could finally find your driver's license!
“Absolute Perfection, Paradise FOUND!”
I can't imagine a more perfect place to stay. The property/setting is just lovely and allows for a lot of flexibility with the kitchen, outdoor area, pool, grills, etc.. William is the most unbelieveable host (and I've stayed at some pretty great places around the world so this is coming from someone who is lucky to be a very seasoned traveller with high expectations). He is clearly committed to delighting his guests and taking care of any problems (there was a train strike when we were in France and he alerted us and had a solution before we were even aware of the problem - this is before we even arrived!). We loved every minute and the location is a perfect hub for exploring Provence. St. Remy is an easy walk and offers everything you could want. We will - without a doubt - return.
Response from the owner Please make good on your promise to return... and we will make good on our promise to take great care of you! You will always be welcome! Please consider 2015, when we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary. There will be lots of "perks" and specials for folks like YOU who have helped us to build the success of our "hamlet."
“Something for Everyone”
With 4 children and varied interests it's hard to please everyone. My husband and I have come to accept that. Evidently there is one person who might beg to differ: William, owner and innkeeper at Provence Paradise. We can honestly say we have all had an experience beyond our expectations right from booking our stay to literally the moment we hopped on the train taking us back to the airport on our way home. Our family stayed in the Bastide. We were there for a week and had the most wonderful time both in our home away from home and out touring Provence. Within the house, I appreciated the attention to detail, the charm of the centuries old farmhouse, the freshly cut flowers in each room, the candles in the dining room and bathroom, the fragrant Provençal scents (one might think William is a bit of a romantic) and the light filled covered terrace....Beautiful! The kids were thrilled to have WiFi, board games, DVDs and reading material to settle into as they spread out in the various rooms of the house after a day of activity. The pool was an added bonus and a great way to cool down under the summer sun. Having wine, cheese and a meal prepared for us on arrival was a surprise and a delicious one at that. Breakfast was already in the fridge for the next day and fresh pastries came directly to our door each morning via, ...yes, you know who: William of course! William also took the time to help us get to know various areas to visit, teach us a bit about the history of Provence, drive us out to go horse back riding, to a goat farm where we tasted fresh organic artisanal cheese, and even appear out of nowhere at the train station to deliver a package I had been waiting for -- oh and he also helped us purchase the train tickets. My goodness! This was beyond expectations for each one of us in the family; a week where there was truly something for everyone. Thank you William, and thank you to your team. We would highly recommend Provence Paradise.
“Provence Paradise was beyond words.”
My recent stay at Provence Paradise was beyond words. The house was beautiful, very Provençal and with all the amenities one would hope for. William couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. You could tell that he loves what he is doing! Every day he came to the door with fresh croissants; one evening there was lasagna and an apple tart. Wonderful surprises given from the heart. William was also eager to help us in any way he could, from recommending what restaurants to try, to somehow getting us a resrevation ar a very popular ( and sold-out) restaurant to even taking the time to call air France to research my changing my flight! Saint Remy is quite charming. The Wednesday morning market is a must, with cheeses, herbs, spices, art, scarves (many) and a variety of accessories. A restaurant we particularly loved was L'Aile ou la Cuisse. Wonderful food and a welcoming staff. Visiting the Mausole St. Paul where Van Gogh was cared for was very touching. The garden of poppies was spectacular! Every day there seems to be a market in Provence! Having a driver was very convenient. Pascal was reasonable in cost and very reliable. (William knows how to reach him.) As for guided tours, Philippe, the head of the Tourist Office in Saint Remy, is one of the best. Our tour of the Luberon was breathtaking, and Philippe, Pascal and William all speak English. Other restaurants that iI would highly recommend are Le Vivier (L'Isle sur la Sorgue), Oustau de Baumaniere (Les Baux), Mas du Capoun (St. Remy) and Crillon Le Brave. If you are visiting Les Baux, be sure to see Carrieres de Lumieres--it is a true spectacle. While this was my first visit to Provence, it will not be my last. Provence Paradise really was Paradise (and William helped make it so).
“Over al Forventning!”
Hvordan beskriver man 4 dage i Himlen? To ord: Provence Paradise.
“Hospitality is what makes this perfect place unforgettable”
We stayed at La Bastide for a week in March. Being a family with two small kids, we were looking for a house that has all of the amenities, as well as helpful owners. We found better. The house is one in a group of several perfectly restored very old buildings that sit on the outskirts of St Remy de Provence. We found a great kitchen, really comfortable bedroom, beautiful bath. All clean, in perfect condition. Air conditioners in all rooms, welcome dinner, all you would need to cook in. The village has a great supermarket, gas station, restaurants and shops. But, all of this is just an addition to your host. William was born to do this
