We managed to find this gem on Flipkey and really wanted somewhere to bring our 2 children that was both relaxing, a little luxurious and also not too far from things to do in Minnesota in November. I managed to get through to Jo who gave us the OK and have to say that she was so pleasant and helpful to deal with. The weather was cold but clear for the most part and allowed us to see some of the sights that Jo and Bob had included in the description. It really was so beautiful. The views from the house over the lake were fabulous. Our children were 3 and 6 years old and absolutely loved it there, especially the pool over the road which we used every day. We are hoping to return when the weather is warmer and just wanted to thank Jo and Bob for their hospitality. Thank you so much. Daren, Anna, Fin and Kieran
“So peaceful and tranquil.”
Wow, what an amazing place and setting! The minute you walk in you see the lake through a full wall of floor to ceiling windows, it is stunning. The lake in winter is amazing as sea smoke rises and is blown across the surface, beautiful and mesmerizing to watch. The home is so comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated that it is hard to want to go outside to explore the area but you have to, there's so much to see and do. We ran out of time to do all that we wanted to but that's ok, we'll definitely be back! Next time we'll try a summer trip for some lakeside deck sitting, can't wait.
“Great, relaxing stay - zero hassle”
My wife and I stayed at this property for our honeymoon and it was everything we could have asked for and more. When we arrived, the property was very clean and instructions for all different aspects of the property were laid out perfectly. The owners had all of the necessary accessories and "staples" on hand that you'd expect from a rental. The home is in very good condition and is in a nice, quiet community with a gorgeous view. I would definitely recommend this location and these owners for anyone looking for a weekend on the North Shore. The Beaver Bay location puts you in convenient driving distance for the whole shore from Duluth to Grand Marais. We will definitely consider staying here again.
Response from the owner We are so pleased that you chose our home for your honeymoon and that it was hassle free! Trips to the north shore should be about retreating from hassle, relaxing in comfort, restoring appreciation for our beautiful state and repeating as often as necessary! We hope you'll have a chance to return, there's much to see and do "up north" in every season.
“Home away from home!”
I never told my wife where we staying when we decided to take a weekend up north. That can sometimes backfire! Not in this case. She was absolutely in awe when she stepped into this beautiful house! It's just such a nice warm, inviting place to be. We hiked the Baptism River to the high falls one day, and up to Oberg Mountain the next. We got rained on when we got to the top and ended up a little soggy, and still enjoyed it all! We knew we were heading back to the house and the warmth of the fireplace. The jaquzzi overlooking Lake Superior was on the list too, and it's just a great way to end the day. We enjoyed coffee on the deck each morning, waiting for sun to peak over the lake...just a perfect place to unwind! We brought some things that we thought we might need, but soon found out this place really is a turn-key house...everything you need is here. I also would add that Jo was so responsive with communication, that it really made for an easy set up. Thanks so much! We will be back!
Response from the owner We are so happy to hear your surprise trip was a hit! It's so nice to hear that people find our home to be such a warm and inviting place, we put a lot of effort in selecting each piece of furniture and art to make it so. It sounds like you got in some quintessential north shore experiences along with some relaxation, the perfect "up north" combination. We hope you do come again, it is beautiful in every season!
The stay was amazing!!! I don't know how else to describe it. The location was breathtaking, the home very cozy. It was a perfect place to spend a weekend with dear friends. I would definately go here again for a weekend getaway.
Response from the owner We are so happy to hear that Anna and her friends enjoyed our home. Breathtaking is the right word, it's our favorite place on the earth. We are delighted to share the beauty of Lake Superior's north shore with our guests. Bob and Jo
“Beautiful and relaxing!”
Great little cabin on the beautiful Superior Lake! Very cozy, well kept and clean. The view from the cabin is absolutely breath taking! The house is well furnished with anything that you may think you will need for your stay. This is a great place to escape to from the busy cities.
