“Whimsical Weekend”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2013

This unique house was a perfect weekend retreat for my husband and I and another couple. The view was gorgeous and we all took advantage of the deck to watch the sunrise/sunset each day. It's a short, lovely walk to the beach and a quick drive to Gualala or Manchester for markets, cafes, etc. The fireplaces were perfect for the chilly nights and we were able to make each meal at the house. We wish we could have stayed longer!

“Home away from home”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2012

My daughter and I spent a week at Cetusaurus and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is exactly as pictured and described and is truly unique in it's design. It was so much nicer than spending a week in a hotel or b&b.; We had an entire house with washer, dryer and (my favorite part) the kitchen. We quickly relaxed into this comfortable, clean and beautiful home and appreciated all the amenities offered. There are ocean views from the kitchen, living room and bedroom on a clear day. There is a market nearby in the town of Manchester and a wonderful little bakery in Point arena. Bert was a pleasure to work with and handled the rental details in an efficient and convenient manner. On my next visit, Cetusaurus will hopefully again be my "home away from home."

“Gorgeous home in lovely setting!”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2012

The pictures accurately show the beauty of this well-planned home. The views were lovely, the fireplaces (plural!) were wonderfully cozy and the jacuzzi tub was the cherry on top. A great setting for relaxation and romance!

“Restorative get away”

Reviewed 8 Mar 2012

We have stayed at the Cetusaurus for a few days every summer for several years, and book way in advance to make sure we get it. It's peaceful and clean, and has a laundry, which we usually need after a week camping in the woods. There are quiet neighborhoods for walking. There is access to the semi-private Irish Beach, where you can find wonderful seaweed piles, often undisturbed. We frequently see a herd of tiny deer grazing close by. Beautiful spot, beautiful house.

“life inside a work of art”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2012

The short time we spent living inside this unique structure of redwood, tile, concrete and glass provide us with a brief introduction to a different class of housing. One created by someone in love with the country just outside. Winter, with gray sky outside, was balanced with the radiant heat and warm toned redwood ceilings flowing thru the rooms I will treasure the memory of our visit, forever.

“The Perfect Escape”

Reviewed 7 Nov 2011

I cannot say enough about the Cetusaurus. The home is a work of art and craftsmanship completed by it's owner. If you're looking for the perfect romantic get away to the Mendocino Coast, this is the place. The Cetusaurus is fully equipped for a small family or just one looking to escape the routine and write or paint. I can't wait to return.

“Most relaxing getaway for the two of us!”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2011

The Cetasaurus home at Irish Beach is a beautiful and inviting place to get away from it all. The location is fantastic and the access to a private beach is quite a luxury. Bert is most kind and helpful with the ins and outs of this artistic abode as well as how to get up there successfully. We would most definitely come back again on our next vacation.

“Amazing experience”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2011

I took my parents, my sister and her daughter to The Cetusaurus in Irish Beach. I found the house by accident on the Internet and was intrigued by its architecture. I was not disappointed when we got there--this is a house with a unique design. The owner has put in a lot of blood, sweat and tears when he was building the house-you can tell by his attention to detail. We had a great time in the house--we barbequed every day, walked to the private beach and took day trips to close by towns. I saw lots of deer in the mornings and afternoons and even a bobcat once when I was in the middle of barbequing. The house is located at the edge of the forest and has beautiful views of the ocean. Overall, we had a great time and we all enjoyed ourselves. I will definitely try to book this house again.

“Wonderful home and experience”

Reviewed 19 May 2011

What a great house! My wife and stayed here for an entire week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves whether we were lounging on the deck taking in the ocean view, cooking in the fully equipped kitchen, or soaking in the huge jacuzzi tub. The radiant heating in the floor and the fireplace kept everything cozy. We couldn't recommend this fantastic vacation home more strongly. In fact, we're headed back again this summer!

“Uniquely amazing!”

Reviewed 18 May 2011

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend to get away from the San Francisco busy-ness. It was great! The architecture of the house is unique and beautiful and has a great view of the ocean (about half a mile away). We brought some food for meals and the kitchen was stocked with all the utensils needed. Great small-town restaurants are within a short drive as well. Last, but not least, the owner Berton was a pleasure to work with. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone looking to get away from the city and "disconnect." A very refreshing weekend overall!
