“Great relaxing holiday”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2014

Had a great time at Villa Rio Magro the owners were very helpful and made our stay relaxing and hassle free. The pool was great to cool down in during the hot sunny days and the views amazing. the villa was clean and tidy with everything we needed. the paella was one of the best we have had. definitely be going back

“A very welcome break!”

Reviewed 30 Jan 2014

I've stayed at Villa Rio Magro a couple of times for a getaway break. Not a luxury villa, nevertheless very comfortable, modern and clean, with all amenities that anyone might need on holiday (within reason for a rural house run on eco-friendly solar power). Hosts are welcoming and helpful, yet not intrusive. It is advisable to hire a car from the airport as I did for exploring breathtaking pine-forested mountain scenery nearby (where I got close-up sightings of two chamois), or nipping into the village for coffee/beer/tapas at an authentic Spanish bar. Spectacular Valencia city is 30 mins along the motorway, and sandy beaches another 10 mins further. However, a train from Bunol(venue for the yearly Tomatina tomato-throwing festival) is really cheap and convenient (hosts will give lifts in their car to the station for a small charge, although you can park at the station for free). Take the train in the opposite direction, past vineyards to Requena to visit a genuine Valencian winery. There are many interesting places for days out, but it's a real pleasure simply to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the villa itself, taking in beautiful views across the valley or dipping in the pool (during summer months),soaking-up glorious Spanish sun (most of year)and watching skyward for eagles and fiery sunsets. I recommend this villa to couples, groups or families for a Spanish holiday with a difference (not suitable for people with physical disabilities, due to hilly terrain); if you prefer traditional fiestas, mountain scenery, peaceful relaxation and historic castles, with the option of Valencia city for a change of pace, rather than the hustle and brashness of Benidorm-style resorts, then this is an ideal place for your holiday. If you enjoy walking, there are endless miles (kilometres?) of rough tracks to wander from the villa, possibly accompanied by loveable dog Jack, or one of the house cats.

“Fantastic, relaxing retreat with beautiful views”

Reviewed 19 Jan 2014

Peaceful setting in the mountains with beautiful panoramic views of the countryside but close enough to all amenities with the option of a taxi service by the owner. The service was excellent and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and although they live in the apartment above you only see them if you need anything. The option to have food cooked for you is ideal if you don't want to cook yourself and the complimentary meal on the first night was excellent. The welcome pack means that you don't have to worry about shopping until you've had time to settle in. It's spotlessly clean and they will bring fresh linen if requested. There are bikes in case you want to see the local coutryside at your own pace and painting classes if you fancy trying your hand at something different. I have stayed in this villa on several occasions and I can't wait to get back and look forward to relaxing on the patio with a cold glass of wine.
