“New Year Break”
Our second stay with Bumblewick Cottages and certainly lived up to expectations. Chapel Cottage is warm and welcoming, very well appointed and ideal for exploring Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and the surrounding area. We look forward to returning soon
Response from the owner Hello Seamus Thank you very much for your very kind comments. i am pleased you had a lovely stay in Chapel Cottage and look forward to your return. Kind regards Loraine
“Lovely relaxing break”
Fantastic time in a lovely area. Cottage is very comfortable and warm and lovely to come back to after a long walk! Plenty of pubs in Robin Hood's Bay for food - a 15 min walk away and good local pub 100 yards away. Plenty to do in the area for outdoor lovers.
Response from the owner Definitely our sentiments as well. Thanks Robert
“Excellent stay at Chapel Cottage”
We have just returned home from Chapel Cottage. The extra touches, the fresh milk in the fridge, tea and coffee were a lovely touch on arrival as was walking into a lovely warm cottage. The short walk into the village was perfect for us. There's lots to see and do and everything seemed dog friendly which was a bonus! We had a perfect break and the cottage had just everything we needed. We didn't want to come home! Best - everything Least - going home!
Response from the owner Thanks for the photos, there are some truly memorable views locally. Really pleased you enjoyed the stay. Robert
“Handy for Whitby”
I required a last minute short break. I was going to one house and on the day got re-routed to another. As I am flexible - no problem - there was only me and the 2 dogs. House fine. There was a dangerous 4" step down from kitchen to hall - remembered after two trips. Very cheap cutlery. The house was overlooked every which way so no privacy if in the garden. The dogs coped well with the garden though the wall was a little low for the Border. Very handy for Whitby and Sandsend and that's where my dogs wished to be. Handy for where I wished to go. Best Lack of privacy if in the garden. Least
Response from the owner Hello Rev David Very glad of your flexibility-It was appreciated as Holidaymaker had felt too ill to leave original cottage. The Step is original 1800's and has not been an issue before. The garden is sheltered and "sunny" and a great amenity, unusual with cottages of this age, but it is in a village centre location and whilst a characterful position, these cottages tend to be close to each other (most without any garden) and particularly as this was a Methodist Chapel for the village until the new Church was built. Thank you for your previous kind comments. Kind regards Sue
“Comfortable and quiet short-break”
The service provided to myself and my partner was efficent and I didt't feel obligated to follow up with any enquiries about the cottage, due to the friendly email reponses. Everything that was listed was provided for us upon arrival. The cottage itself was clean, welcoming and satisfactory to both our needs. The public house across from the cottage cooked very nice food and had friendly staff. The cottage is around a 10-15 minute walk to the beach which luckily for us, it was hot our entire stay.
Response from the owner Hello Mr Ruckledge Thank you very much for your comments. we do appreciate your feed back. I am pleased you both liked your stay in chapel cottage. kind regards Loraine Shelton

“A home from home”
Lovely clean cottage, well equipped, close to dog friendly pub and a five minute walk into Robin Hoods Bay. Everything you could possibly need. Great communication from the owners too. Nice to find a comfy retreat that accepts more than 2 small dogs with prior arrangement and doesn't charge the earth for it! Suitable sized TV & DVD. Comfy super king bed in master bedroom and bunk beds in 2nd bedroom with toys for kids. We have booked twice again after our first stay and will definitely use again and recommend to our friends.
Response from the owner Hello Caroline Thank you very much for your kind comments. Very much appreciated. I am very pleased that you had a lovely stay. (dogs too). Look forward to your return. Kind regards Loraine Shelton
“A relaxing break in a beautiful area.”
We really enjoyed our visit to North Yorkshire were in a good position to explore both coast and countryside. Chapel Cottage is comfortable and cosy with plenty of character. The kitchen is light and very well equiped and the whole cottage has a warm and pleasant feel to it. It is situated close to a post office, shop and good local pub, which serves food and has a large beer garden. It is a short walk down into Robin Hood's Bay, so ideal for countryside lovers who want to walk, cycle or explore the rock pools on the water's edge.
Response from the owner Hello Richard & Heather I am very pleased you had a good & enjoyable stay. Thank you very much for your very kind comments, very much appreciated. Kind regards Loraine Shelton
“Excellent cosy cottage”
This is the third time we have stayed at this cottage and it feels like home from home. The cottage is very cosy and a great location. We stay with our spaniel and the pub opposite is dog friendly and serves lovely meals. We are almost locals! Would thoroughly recommend. The owners are also very helpful and amenable. We have only stayed in October and enjoy walking.
Response from the owner Hello Jennifer & James Thank you very much for your kind comments, very much appreciated. I am very pleased that you have had a lovely stay and enjoyed the walks with your spaniel. Kind regards Loraine
