“Fabulous Family Vacation at Water's Edge”

Reviewed 1 May 2014

We had a great stay on Nevis at this beautiful and spacious house, which fit nine of us (4 adults/5 kids) easily with room to spare. Right on the beach, the views of the backside of neighboring St. Kitts are gorgeous any time of day, with very swimmer friendly beach and snorkeling right out front. Furniture is comfortable, but not so nice you worry your kids will muck it up. Beds very comfortable. The house is stocked with all kinds of playthings for the kids - from games to hula hoops to pool floats. Kitchen well appointed, and they did a big shop for us beforehand (small fee), so we only had to go to grocery once or twice more during our week. We did a lot of activities on Nevis, and Suzanne Gordon was extremely helpful with advice and reservations. Really above and beyond in terms of service. Nevis doesnt get tons of tourists, but enough that there are ample services/restaurants/activities for most. Almost no shopping, which is fine by us. We love the wild donkeys and goats, and a hike on Mount Nevis (the peak, which just about killed even the fittest of us, so try the Source hike - better), with lobster sammies on the peaceful patio at Golden Rock Inn after, are not to be missed. Also Sunshines Bar - great spot! Snorkeling off rocks at Four Seasons was amazing - rays, squid, lobsters! (Though there's some snorkeling off the house beach too) And you can go high end at the spa or golf course, or have lunch at the pool bar, if you want to pamper yourself. But, honestly, most of us would have been just as happy lounging at the house all week - it was so delightful. Second time on Nevis and it was as charming and full of adventure as we remembered it from 11 years ago.

“Perfect beachfront home for family getaway”

Reviewed 3 Jun 2013

The folks at Sugar Mill made our transition to the island of Nevis and the Seafields estate seamless. From taxi arrangements from the airport, a ferry ride from St. Kitts and rental cars on Nevis, they were there to ensure our comfort. The home was incredibly located and perfect for our family of 9. The view out the back yard to the private beach was phenomenal to wake up to daily. The cottages were quaint, private and well-appointed; it was blissful to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of waves on the beach. The main house just couldn't have been more welcoming and the grounds/housecleaning staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The guest rooms were large & the main living room and porch had great seating for eating, games & lounging. There was wi-fi in the house, which was a huge plus! There were plenty of full bathrooms and the back bedroom/porch with 3 twin beds was perfect for our kids. Everywhere you look in this home there is a little seating area or porch or great view of the ocean to enjoy. Since it is a home and not a hotel, we had to go grocery shopping (although many basic amenities were already there, we just replaced what we used or left the items that we couldn't take with us) which was an adventure! We rented cars and drove on the European side of the road, past goats and monkeys, with barely a stop sign (or speed limit sign)to impede our loop around the main island road. We were in our own private world, which was what we were looking for, but there are plenty of places to go if you want to sample the local flavor. We got many recommendations on places to go to eat, sightsee and shop (botanical garden, plantations, stores etc.) and the home owners left us a FaQ sheet listing many of the special events going on the week we were there. You could engage as much as you wanted to or just sit back and relax by the pool (which the kids loved), kayake out into the ocean, or search for conch shells and build castles on the beach!
