“Perfect Vintage Puerto Rican Home !!!”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2013

Amarilla Casita was a perfect choice for our vacation to Vieques. The property is lush and spectacular and the house itself is very comfortable. I really enjoyed the feeling of indoor/outdoor living due to the huge front porch and the hammocks, bbq grill and breakfast table (all outdoors). The property sits at the top of the hill and has great views of the mountains and the sea. There's a very convenient bodega just down the hill (5 minute walk) at Mambos. The property felt very safe and was clean and tidy when we arrived. Camarilla Casita is a perfect choice for those brave sould that enjoy living like the locals and like it rough around the edges. The outdoor shower was great as was having laundry services on site. I will def be staying here again on my next trip to Vieques and the price cannot be beat. Buen aprovecho :)

“out in the country”

We loved it here and hope to stay here again. We will recommend it to our friends. Pros: we picked this place because of the porch and the hammocks and that was worth it. you can see the ocean from the porch which is nice. gabriel was very nice and came over to introduce himself early in our visit the location is great- 5-10 minutes from the nat. park beaches. we didn't really go to the towns much but neither is far. kitchen is pretty well stocked. we brought a lot of food from home but the grocery store prices are similar to home. there's a small store at the bottom of the hill if you need something last minute. even though you are in a neighborhood, it is private because of the huge yard and locked gate. being up on the hill is nice too. i think beach towels were available too which is awesome for travelers Cons: the beds were not especially comfortable- one of us began in the twin bunk beds room but ended up moving to share the double bed because the bed was so uncomfortable. maybe kids won't mind? the peacocks in the area get annoying after a while but as someone else wrote, by vieques rooster standards, it's relatively quiet. we had trouble with the internet- from the other review it sounds like it's an issue, so check ahead with gabriel if you really need it. we were just annoyed because we were trying to watch netflix and it kept cutting out. also couldn't get the tv working and there were no instructions, but we didn't care much about that. the beach chairs that we'd been expecting to use kind of collapsed upon first use. hopefully gabriel has replaced by now.

“Great”

The scenery, weather and localization, of this amazing tropical house, define a place composed of relaxation and an enjoyable atmosphere perfect to share with family and friends. The great beaches localized near this wonderful house, have crystal clear blue waters, accompanied by extremly rich and fine sand. The house is settled on the perfect stop on the island with an admirable view, great for sitting on the balcony and admiring the sunsets the island has to offer.

“The balcony is my favorite. You breathe peace and tranquility.”

La casita amarilla is a very charming place. Anything that you need is in there ( even an ipod station with a remote control!!!) cookware, towels, cooler, wine glasses... The service and accommodations are excellent.

“Excelent Get away!”

Great place for a short vacation! La Casita amarilla is excellent for getting away from business and the daily routine. It is located on the top of a hill, away from any type of noise; yet close to amazing beaches, outstanding restaurants, and local nightlife! The place itself is pretty well maintained; everything works! You'll find at La Casita amarilla all the essentials for a nice vacation with friends and family. My friends and I had a great time at Vieques, and felt safe driving around at al times. Without a doubt it was an excellent choice!

“Amarilla Casita a Wonderful Place to Stay!”

Reviewed 23 May 2011

I recently stayed at the amarilla Casita (in total we were 4 adults and 2 kids) for one week. We had a wonderful time in Vieques and could not be happier with out stay at the amarilla Casita. We all slept comfortably and enjoyed our time both in the house and around the island. The house is a comfortable two bedrooms with a spacious common room kitchen area and balcony. One bedroom has a queen size and the other two bunk beds (that comfortably sleeps an adult, I know because that is where I slept!) The balcony has a nice view of the ocean, and has two hammocks which are priceless after a day at the beach or exploring the island. The rooms are both air conditioned (one of the a/c units is a bit loud but quite bearable), clean sheets and towels were provided and the owner was on call for any problems relating to the house (and/or directions =) ). The kitchen while basic, did meet all our needs and includes a small microwave and large refrigerator. Also there is a large cooler and beach chairs, these were extremely handy when going to the beach. I found the house to be clean, well kept and accessible. It is rather centrally located with several beaches within an easy five to ten minute drive. The entrance to the property where the house sits is located right next to a small but well stocked convenience store (in fact I was often surprised at what you could find there). The beaches in Vieques are in a word beautiful, I recommend you look around there are beaches for every taste! All in all, we had a great experience in our visit to Vieques and our stay at the amarilla Casita. The house while rustic and simply furnished had everything we needed. Please take bug spray, because there are lots of bugs especially at night, the house has screens on the windows so the inside of the house was relatively bug free. Finally, I highly recommend taking a tour of the bio-luminescent bay! It was simple incredible! A great experience!
