“Excellent value in good location”
This is a very clean and well equipped apartment. Tina, the owner, was there to greet us on our late arrival with a welcome pack of wine, water, milk and cakes. She was very helpful at all times and kind enough to let us stay late on the day of our departure. San Vito is a pretty little town with lovely views to the coast, countryside and mountains beyond. In San Vito Marina there are many restaurants and take-aways where you can eat from as little as Euro 5 per dish. Good value is Trattoria adriatica and Esperia (virtually on the beach) - the fish and shellfish are all very good. If you fancy a cheaper meat option head to the Macelleria where you choose your chop/steak and they will cook it for you. Tina provides a mini guidebook with suggestions of places to visit all within an hour or so of the apartment - do try to visit them all. The countryside around is very pretty as is the coast both to the north and south. This apartment is very good value and makes an excellent base for a relaxing holiday. Once again our thanks to Tina
Response from the owner Thanks for taking the time to leave such a comprehensive review both here and in the guest book Laura. It was great that you got out into the countryside too as it really is worth the effort to see the mountains and National Parks although it's hard to leave the beautiful coastline. We hope to see you again another year. Warmest regards Tina
“beautiful apartment, fantastic friendly village, excellent spot”
We recently had the pleasure of staying at Tina's apartment in San Vito Chietino. What a great place! It was great to be greeted on arrival by Tina who immediately made herself available to help in any way she could and has a wealth of information to share. Information provided on the local area is excellently researched and comprehensive. The apartment itself is really comfortable and modern with its own shared garden (the other residents are rarely/never there). Although there is no parking outside it isn't a problem as it is really easy to find parking about 100metres away towards to town. San Vito town is very pretty and the locals are all really friendly and curious and were happy to let me try out my limited Italian. The beach at San Vito is very close and refreshing and the fish restaurants provide excellent fuel after a hard mornings sun bathing. There are no major drawbacks about the apartment or the area except that maybe it is too close to the ice-cream parlour Copa de Dora which is just outstanding and must be visited at least once a day - zuppa inglesi ice cream...yummy!! The area in general is full of excellent restaurants, every day is one big food safari!! Situated on the trabocchi coast it is a great base from which to explore the beaches and towns of the adriatic. The proximity of both beaches, historic towns and national parks provide options for all, sunbathers, history lovers and explorers. Overall, we had a fantastic relaxing holiday and dream of returning in the near future.
Response from the owner Thank you for such a great review Joe, I am so happy that you had such a lovely time and look forward to meeting you again when you return to beautiful, unspoilt Abruzzo.
“Best view of sunrise over San Vito”
We greatly enjoyed our stay at the apartment. The location is simply great, right in the San Vito town and just minutes from the San Vito Marina that offers wide selection of fish restaurants and bars, plus the famous Copa de Dora gelateria. The sea view is fantastic and as we are "early birds" we managed to watch a sunrise a couple of times (at approx 5.30) without having to go to the beach, right from our window! The pine tree right in front of the apartment offers invaluable shade, ensuring that he flat remains cool and well ventilated throughout the day, plus we could seat under the tree, enjoying a glass of welcome local wine left by the host. The flat is fully equipped and finished very tastefully with attention and care to every detail and preserving some original wooden frames and arched stone ceiling. The property owner, who lives locally, was most helpful and flexible with check-in and -out and offered great explanation of local tourist attractions and restaurants via many leaflets and guides available in the flat. There is a parking space close nearby approx 2 minutes walk away. We loved doing our shopping in the local shops (5 minutes walk away), as everybody was most helpful and eager to help. The local produce is simply delicious, in particular pecorino cheese, crudo ham or truffle pasta sauce. The location is great for exploring other attractions in the south of abruzzo, namely the historic town of Lanciano or the more inland mountain locations. We would definitely stay in the apartments again and recommend it without a moment of hesitation.
Response from the owner Agnes, thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review of your holiday and I am so happy that you enjoyed your short stay with us. We hope to see you again one day but in the meantime hope all goes well with your impending arrival!
We stayed one week late november as we were househunting. Despite bad weather we had a comfortable stay. Tina is a great host and showed us the beautifull Maiella mountains one afternoon. And Richard is a great builder,he renovated the house. Central heating, good kitchen, good shower, double glazing, lots of tv channels. All you want in winter if you look for modern comfort rather than old character. Lovely garden. Remember you have to climb stairs. Affordable and good views.
“Something really special”
This high classs top modern apartment in the ancient house and surroundings is something really special. The the view over the sea is stunning and there are lots of points of interrest in the little towns around. If you go a little bit south to Fossacesia beach you find a beach resturant La Conchiglia with superb food and service. The drawbacs are small but you need good legs for the stairs down to the apartment are steep and the walk to the parking is not nice.Otherwise superb and we shall glady recommend it.
We had a blast in San Vito. Got married there and the town gave my wife a wedding reception even though only knowing us for a few days. The apartment is fantastic. New and modern with all the conviences. Great location in San Vito and you can walk to everything. Tina was a wonderful host and very helpful. It is very reasonable to eat and shop in the town and the people are the nicest you will ever meet. If going to the adriatic, the town and apartment are the place to be.
Response from the owner Thanks Jay for your kind words. We all had the best time at your wedding and the people of San Vito haven't stopped talking about it since. We keep seeing photos and newspaper cutting of you in all the local shops and bars. Hope to see you again in the future.
“Staying in San Vito”
We had a lovely time in San Vito Chietino and truly enjoyed our stay. The apartment was comfortable with stunning sea views and Tina proved the perfect hostess. The only drawback is that you really need a car if you want to explore the area, as although the aparment is very close to the village, buses are not as frequent as they could be. Hence we walked a lot, which is not a bad thing per se. The locals are very friendly and the food is to die for. Further afield from San Vito there are lots of coves where to swim and the sea is on a par with that of Greece. All in all, we had a wonderful time and we will certainly book again.
“Wonderful flat in charming little town”
This is truly a great find for anyone looking to explore a completely unspoilt part of Italy. San Vito is a lovely town which is refreshingly free from tourists and the locals are very friendly. The flat itself is wonderful, Tina has thought of everything and is a truly excellent hostess who gave us a thorough introduction to the area and was always available to answer questions and help us out with anything we needed. Staying nearby and in the flat you can really escape and relax but there are also lots of places to visit in the mountains, along the coast and the beaches are stunning. We really enjoyed our stay but wished we had had a car to see more of the region however you can really get by without. There are 2 mountain bikes for use of guests which we found very useful and all in all we had a lovely stay which I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a nice holiday!
“A chilled out week in the sun, with stunning views”
The apartment is in a building set on the winding road down from the town to the beach. The apartment itself is self contained, although the building is shared with a family who only spend a couple of weeks there every year. They were there during our stay but we did not really notice their prescence. We parked up on the road about 100 yards above the house and walked down to meet the host Tina, who gave us a very thorough introduction to the area; nice places to eat, things to do, and getting by in general. Inside has been completely renovated to very modern standards, whiles't leaving a few original features such as the vaulted ceiling in the bedroom. The house contained all the things you would require such as cooking utensils, along with a bunch of books and dvds if you forgot to pack holiday reading. San Vito is a pleasant little seaside town. It seems to be a place where italian folks go on their holidays. During our week's stay there, we did not detect any other brits (or any other nationality other than italians), so prices were fairly reasonable. Food wise, as long as you like seafood, you will be fine. There are a handful of restaurants in the town, varying from cheap (5euro for a paper plate piled high with seafood), to fine dining restaurants serving 8 course starters. There is a lovely ice cream parlour set right at the start of the long steps back to the house, so softens the pain of the walk (its around 780 steps to the house, so if you are not fit, you will be by the end of the week!). All in all, we had a fantastic relaxing time at the apartment. The weather was hot for the entire duration, but the apartment was always cool enough inside with a gentle breeze with the windows open. As an aside, do note that it is most definitely not suitable for folks that would have difficulty getting up and down stairs, as there are stairs all over the place (to get to the beach, and to get from the main door down to the apartment and the garden).
“Excellent fully furnished flat in suberb location”
Tina is an outstanding hostess, nothing is too much trouble. The Flat has been throughly mordernised and has everything you would need whilst on holiday. It would not be suitable for wheelchair users or people who have difficulty with stairs. The location is fantastic, just ten minutes down to the local beach and shops. It is also an excellent base for exploring the abruzzo region. A most enjoyable stay that I would be willing to repeat.
