“A Tropical Paradise!”
I keep getting drawn back to the Yucatan; this was my 7th visit, & my 4th time at splendid Villa Nah Hah. For me, vacations just don't get any better than this: a stunning home in the perfect location, & with so many activities to choose from. A month prior to my trip, I placed an online order with Riviera Maya Groceries & they delivered just prior to my arrival. So, within minutes of checking in, I was sipping chilled white wine & snacking on crackers & cheese on the terrace, enjoying the sunset & ocean breezes. Caretakers Jesus & Diameli had the villa all ready for me, including a huge fruit basket & colorful fresh floral arrangements. They looked after me so well! I was made to feel so welcome, so safe, so cared for. For a small extra fee, they'll even do your laundry; very convenient & it meant I could pack a lot less clothing. The home is just lovely, with comfy beds & pillows, nice bed & bath linens, well-stocked kitchen, interesting art works, & well-tended landscaping including coconut palms. But it's really all about the location: just a few steps from the door to incredible snorkeling in Half Moon Bay, about half a block to Yal Ku lagoon, & right in front, the pounding surf, so perfect for falling asleep. And of course there's a private pool for swimming. One of my favorite spots is the hammock, & I also really appreciate the upper level sundeck for private sunbathing. Several restaurants are within walking distance, & more are located in Akumal about 10 minutes away by car. My best meal was at La Lunita, where I had cream of roasted garlic soup topped with grilled shrimp & toasted coconut, followed by very tasty lacquered duck tacos. Loved the breakfasts at Lol Ha right on Akumal Bay, especially the fruit plates & breakfast sandwiches. Saw many turtles while snorkeling in Akumal Bay. Also had an up-close-&-personal encounter with a 4 foot eagle ray. It was feeding in the sandy bottom in about 6 feet of water, & I was able to hover above it for 5 minutes. Amazing! Drove up to Playa Del Carmen one day for lunch & souvenir shopping. Got some cool stuff at the Wayan store on Avenida 5 right across from the bus station. Especially enjoyed their fish spa, where you soak your feet in a tank of water filled with 125 tiny Turkish minnows that nibble off dead skin. The best kind of pedicure! Several Maya ruins are close by. My favorites: Tulum, Muyil, Coba, & Ek Balam. Snorkeling & diving the cenotes is always fascinating to me, seeing the cave formations, fresh water fish, crayfish, & turtles. I spent a day a the Mayakoba resort about 45 minutes north of Akumal. Had breakfast poolside, enjoyed the sauna, steam room & cold plunge pool, then the most marvelous massage. Also spent one evening at the new Cirque Du Soleil show, "La Joya": the theater was very beautiful & the show, like all CDS, was breathtaking. Took a day long cooking class at The Little Mexican Cooking School in Puerto Morelos: so much fun & very informative. Chef Salvador showed us how to prepare 4 different salsas, sopa de lima, ceviche, fish tacos, & mango pudding with fresh guava. Plan to return to learn how to make mole sauce. As always, making all arrangements with villa owner Kathy was so easy & pleasant, & that means a great deal to me. Can not wait to go back!
“A piece of paradise!!!”
I had a fantastic visit at Nah Hah--The view from everywhere on the property is breathtaking. I used the pool quite a bit and that was very pleasant. The couple that caretakes the premises are both very friendly and helpful and great cooks!! There is access to the water from the premises and great snorkeling. I had a very nice v isit and am sure that I will return in the future.
Response from the owner Of course, yo are welcome back any time. just make a reservation. Thank you for taking the time to do this sirvey for Nah-Hah. Saludos, Azul Water Villas LLC team
We just returned from a full week at Nah Hah and had an incredible time. The house was perfect and you cannot beat the view from the pool at Nah Hah. It's the best place to be in akumal when the sun is setting. Kathy and Jim were great and very responsive to everything we needed. (She even drove to Playa to purchase a new TV and internet router when things were working right the first day). The house is very comfortable and has a great living area on the main floor that is perfect for large family gatherings. You can hear the waves crashing on the rocks from every bedroom. The house is a short walk to the best restaurant in akumal (Que Onda) and the best snorkeling in akumal (the Yal Ku Lagoon). It is also a short walk to La Lunita restaurant the the Buena Vida beach bar. I would higly recommend the Nah Hah house and certainly hope to make a return trip one day.
Response from the owner Thank your entire family for picking Nah-Hah for your New Years vacation. You had 5 children all under 6 and everyone really enjoyed the home, pool and beach opportunities. The love and sharing you had for each other and the shared Akumal experience made a lasting impression in our guest memories. Have a wonderful New Year
“Wonderful place to get away”
This property is outstanding. Location is wonderful. I have already recommended this property to several friends. One of the best vacations I have ever had. Plan to come back as soon as possible.
“A Slice of Heaven!”
A beautiful house and my favorite house to rent when i go to akumal! My husband and i got married in akumal and we go back often! Kathy is amazing and it is a delight to deal with her. Nah Hah is a magical place!...Jesus the property manager is wonderful and is a fabulous cook! Yes! he will cook for you and your guest!!! It is so much fun to come home after a long day scuba diving...walking on the beach or swimming and have a wonderful dinner await you and your friends!!! You will have unbelievable time at the house and will be treated like kings and queens!
This was my fifth visit to Nah Hah on Half Moon Bay in akumal, Mexico. We keep coming back to the same lovely place because we always get wonderful service from the owner and the caretakers, a fantastic home to stay in with great amenities, an amazing 270 degree view of the ocean, snorkeling right outside our back door, covered parking... I could go on and on. Come stay here. You will love it!
“According to my family...Fantabulous and legendary!”
We were looking for a place that four hard-working parents could check out for a while, as well as have a place that would provide enough stimulation for three 19-20 year old adult children. We found it here! Waking up in the morning, you hear the ocean...and nothing else. We would sit by the pool and enjoy the sunrise and a cup of coffee. Then, someone would move to the hammock and get a book, and another would take a walk along the shore. If you wanted to, you could walk a few minutes to the secluded Yal-ku Lagoon and snorkel with the beautiful freshwater and saltwater creatures or walk out to Half-Moon bay to snorkel with sea turtles, sting rays and an abundance of other creatures. A few minutes away, Akumal bay provides guided snorkeling or diving, and you can see the fresh catch of the day being brought in an prepared by the local fishermen. There was a couple of grocery marts nearby where we could get breakfast items, snacks, and stuff for dinner if we wanted to cook. Caretakers Jesus and Diameli provided an overflowing fruit basket upon our arrival that we noshed from for several days. We really enjoyed the cuisine and character of the variety of local restaurants throughout the days. During our stay, in addition to all the snorkeling, we visited the ruins at Coba, did a day of shopping in Cancun, and spent the day at Xplore park, where we zip-lined, drove atv's swam and rafted in cenotes, and ate some really good food. But the best part of the stay was having no real agenda, getting up when we wanted to, eating when we wanted to, having the beautiful pool on the shore to ourselves, and only engaging with others when we wanted to. This villa was perfect for that. The parents relaxed, the teenagers relaxed but also had enough activities local to keep them occupied and happy, we all spent time together without electronics (although there is wifi for email and Facebook), and enjoyed the time together.
“Akumal for more than a week”
We arrived in akumal January 15, 2013 for a monthlong stay at Casa Nah Hah. I had gone to akumal in November to look at a location for this stay and met with Kathy to look at the house. It was perfect for my wife and I as we wanted a private location where we could see the Caribbean. The house was more than adequate and we had different guests arrive at different times. We arrived with the fountain in the entry running and a perfectly clean house. Daily cleaning was the rule not the exception. We had a number of meals prepared by Jesus and his wife. Delicious and oh so handy to not go out to a restaurant and cheaper as well. The second floor deck was used extensively with wonderful views of the sea and the sound effects of the waves awesome. We often walked down the steps and snorkled in Half Moon Bay. Each time we went we saw something new, giant sting ray, loggerhead turtle, and of course many fish. YalKu lagoon is close by and well worth snorkeling there as well. Akumal is a small village easily walked to from Nah Hah and offers a several wonderful restaurants. After many trips to Mexico I always hated leaving after a week and wanted more. If at all possible stay longer you won't regret it. Michael Short
“Fab for Families”
Loved it so much we are returning for another two weeks this year. So good I would hesitate to rave if the owner and caretakers were not so wonderful as to make it an ethical necessity. I could reiterate the accolades below, but will just state they are true for the sake of brevity. Everything you need for fun is at the house or close at hand. Great little town, and many great attractions for a variety of tastes nearby. Kids 6/10, now 7/11, would just live in the beautiful ocean view pool if they could. The house is big enough that you, the adult, can have a lovely outdoor massage or pedicure on the second floor balcony and be totally at peace, even with a full house.
Fabulous house, fabulous location, caring owner, and wonderful caretakers. We landed at this house somewhat randomly but are returning again this year for another two weeks. An incredibly relaxing place for a family (and potentially bigger groups). Much to do in the general area of the Yucatan, but you may not want to leave "home" where the caretakers cook fabulous local dishes and you can have a private massage on the second floor balcony porch. Minor downsides: we are cooks and the kitchen is more of a galley kitchen than a full kitchen. Somewhat surprising given the size of the house. Like any ocean front property, the climate takes its toll on anything that isn't stone. That said, the property is well maintained and fully equipped for fun by all.
