“Fantastic weekend Break.”
Beautiful homely comfy cottage. If ever you want to stop on a working farm, this is the one almost sleeping with the cows but believe it or not we never hear a thing and this is not the first time we have stop in this accommodation, we have and love this dwelling out in the country with a delightful country pub with log fire, good food and ale less than 100 yards away, what more can you ask for.
“Very enjoyable week in cosy cottage”
We had a great stay in this cosy cottage, the owner was very friendly and our daughter loved letting the ducks out.
“Lovely cottage, great location for walking”
Lovely cottage, plenty of room for two of us with everything we needed. Owners friendly throughout the week and helpful with any queries or activity advice. Cottage in a great location for Keswick and the north lake district. Good base for walking - we walked up Skiddaw from the cottage so no need to use the car every day. Fab pub in the village doing lovely food - but definitely book, even midweek. The best thing was coming home after a long walk/cycle and sitting by the stream outside the cottage with a cup of tea and watching the running ducks!
“Cosy cottage in beautiful Bassenthwaite”
Lovely cottage for 2 (and dog!!)everything you need and very friendly farm family - always available for info or for friendly chat. Beautiful surrounding area with plenty of walks nearby. Parking for guests and cottage always lovely and warm. Thankyou for lovely holiday
“Friendly, relaxing, cosy & clean”
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at The Loft (Rebecca puddleduck cottage) The Trafford family made us feel very welcome. We found the cottage very cosy and comfortable and very clean. We also liked the idea of staying on a working farm, we got to see some animals and saw the hard work that goes into farming! The cottage was not far from the market town Keswick (which we love) and there are some breathtaking sights to be seen nearby. We enjoyed our busy days out then coming back to the cottage and enjoying some peace and relaxation with a glass of red wine. Bliss
“A perfect place for a quiet and relaxing break”
My husband and I have just returned from 5 nights stay in the Rebecca PuddleDuck cottage. We had a lovely time staying here. The cottage is in the perfect location to explore the Lake District. The views of the area are magnificent. The cottage has lots of character. The sound of ducks, cows and sheep was a lovely change from the hustle and bustle in London. The cottage is very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. We especially loved the electric fire in the lounge area. It made the evenings feel very warm. Mrs Trafford was also very welcoming. We would definitely recommend this cottage to family and friends.
“Lovely cottage set in a perfect location”
Yet another lovely holiday in Rebecca Puddle Duck cottage made even better by the fabulous weather. The sun shone through into the living room making it very pleasurable to spend time in particularly looking at the views of Skiddaw. The cottage has all the facilities you require for a comfortable stay. The addition of the shower and new lighting in the bedroom since our last stay are great improvements. The farm ducks are great to watch as usual and the newly hatched chicken is smashing. Whenever you visit there is always something new. The family are very welcoming and nothing is any trouble to them to make sure you have a good stay. Have recommended to many friends.
Great value, warm welcome, well equipped kitchen, great view of Skiddaw. Only problem was the ducks were not laying so we couldn't buy any eggs.
Response from the owner Hi, Pleased you had a good holiday in our Rebecca Puddle-duck cottage - one or two of the ducks were laying actually, but as soon as they were collected, they were in such demand , they were sold straight away. They will be in full lay in a month or so hopefully so we will have to post you some in bubble-wrap!
“Relaxing Getaway - With Great Views”
We stayed in the loft for a week in august and loved every moment of it. Mrs Trafford is really nice and friendly and will always help if you need anything or just stop for a chat. The Loft is very clean and very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. Everything that you need for a good stay is provided. The bed is really comfortable and the location is very peaceful. The bath was very nice to have to come back to after a day out walking. The views of Skiddaw out of the living room window are quite spectacular. The location in the lovely quiet village of Bassenthwaite is excellent if you are looking to get away from it all. There is a lovely stream outside the cottage door and wonderful ducks that are lovely to sit and watch (and very cute when they are let out in the mornings) We often sat out there at dusk as well watching the bats flying around and looking at the stars - you get amazing views when away from the city lights. There are plenty of walks around the village and out of it and if you are willing to walk up hill you can get excellent views of Bassenthwaite lake and surrounding areas. You can walk down to the lake if you do not mind a bit of a walk that gets very close to nature at times. The other best little find we made in this lovely village was the Sun Inn Pub. The staff are very friendly and it is a comfortable pub to have a nice drink in. We ate there one night and loved the food so much we booked again the next night (always book as it gets very full) The nearest little shop is down the lane at the Trafford Caravan Park and they have the basics. We did however love the fresh duck eggs we got off Mrs Trafford a few days during our stay. We loved everything about this holiday and had an amazing time. We will be booking again for next year definitely and recommending to anyone looking for this kind of holiday.
Response from the owner We do aim to please as it is important to us also if our guests have a good holiday, and are delighted that Lisa and Rob enjoyed their stay and look forward to seeing them again. Alison Trafford
“Home from Home”
We have stayed in the Loft every October for at least 15 years. So refreshing to stay on a real working farm in a village unspoilt by modern living. No matter what the weather we always return home with fond memories. Mrs Trafford is there if you need any help and is always happy to have a little chat. If you want a holiday with fantastic scenery and walking for all abilities and within easy reach of Keswick, Bassenthwaite Hall Farm fits the bill.
