We spent a perfect and highly enjoyable three weeks at Jan's and Carolyn's fabulous house in Estes Park. The house is superb and the hosts exceptional. The house is a mile or so up the side of a mountain that provides exclusivity, but with no sense of remoteness. It is close enough to town to make shopping and dining out easy, but far enough away to retain the aesthetic of a rural setting. Deer, hummingbirds, Clark's Nutcracker, magpies and a host of other birds are your companions. The views, from any of three decks of the house--one on each floor--are splendid and reveal many of Rocky Mountain National Park's great peaks. The house is beautifully furnished, very comfortable, capable of accommodating several people easily, and well appointed. Internet and cable TV (if you want it), a kitchen with all the essentials and many non-essentials, and all other comforts of home. A welcome basket of goodies greets you when you arrive and Jan and Carolyn are professional and gracious hosts. Oh yeah, it is about 5 miles to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park, and even less if you want to walk into the park through the East Portal, which we did. In short, a perfect choice.
“Perfect location, excellent service!”
Our family (three generations) enjoyed a week at Fjellheim. We especially loved the view and location, with hummingbirds galore at the feeder on the main deck, the neighborhood for walks, and the ease of getting to hikes and town. Layout on three levels worked well for our group, which included two babies. The Evanses could not have been more considerate and helpful; in addition to a generous welcome basket, they provided a crib and responded immediately to a couple of small problems. We hope to visit again!
“Wonderful Colorado vacation!”
My family and I stayed here for 3 weeks in July. It is an amazing house with everything that you would need. It is exceptionally clean and well-stocked. The large porch was wonderful and we spent lots of downtime enjoying the views and the wildlife! The home is in a great location, close to the town of Estes Park, the Ymca (just down the hill) and Rocky Mountain National Park. The lower level was perfect for the kids (and husband) to hang out. Jan and Carolyn were wonderful hosts. They were very helpful, responsive, and prompt to any questions that we had. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! We would highly recommend this property and can't wait to return next year!
“Like being at home but with an incredible view”
The owners were extremely helpful througout the process and really made you feel welcome at checkin. The property was exactly as described and met every expectation.
The hospitality is second to none. Our hosts went above and beyond all our expectations to make sure we were comfortable and had access to everything we needed. Fjellheim is a very peaceful retreat that offers outstanding views of the mountains and is only minutes from Estes Park. One of the bonuses for us during our stay were the sheer number of hummingbirds that visited the porch feeder. They even landed on my daughter's fingers. A magical place.
Fantastic rental experience. Great location right next to Rmnp. Easily the best owners I have ever had the pleasure of renting from. My request for four perfect days of hiking weather was fulfilled without any additional expense.
“A perfect choice!”
We could not have been more pleased with our Fjellheim experience. Jan & Carolyn sent us a large packet of things to do in area, emailed photos of the home's amazing view and provided an extensive list of amenities & details about the home to help plan our vacation. Upon arrival, they greeted us warmly, gave us a tour of the house and provided written information on the amenities for reference. Jan called us a day after we arrived to ensure our comfort and that we had not experienced any problems. The house is beautifully appointed, incredibly comfy with room to spread out and nothing could beat the view from the deck. They kindly provided some food staples so we did not have to grocery shop right away. We were a short drive from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. We especially liked the location as it was close to restaurants and shopping but the house is in a private community. This ensured a completely quiet and peaceful surrounding away from traffic and noise. We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone interested in staying in Estes Park. It was difficult for us to leave but we had wonderful memories to take with us.
“Wonderful Mountain Experience”
The home was absolutely wonderful. Being able to prepare your own meals if you wish and enjoy such a beautiful view on the decks was sooo relaxing. The home was very comfortable and spacious and the location was fabulous! We'd go back in a heartbeat!!!
“The perfect family home in Estes Park, Colorado”
From the minute I reserved Fjellheim, to the superb e-mail communication with the owners, I knew we were renting the right home for our family trip. We received 2 packets of brochures about Estes Park from the owners after they asked about the interests of the various members of our family. The payment plan was set up well and very fair for the week's stay. Upon arrival, we met the owners and they took us to the house and explained things. They were available if needed, but didn't intrude on our vacation time. The house has a view from the 3 decks that is etched in my mind! And the hummingbirds, beautiful decor, stocked frig and cabinets, I could go on forever with all the positives!! There were no negatives about this home. The location was close to town and the shuttle, if needed too. And not far from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. I've stayed in many rental homes, but Fjellheim is the tops!! We were on this trip for a very personal reason and the house just added to our total trip enjoyment as a family. Thank you to Jan and Carolyn for being such good hosts!!
“We felt very lucky to have found Fjellheim and hosts Jan and Car”
We could not get over the amazing views from the house. There are decks on three levels, with unobstructed, breathtaking mountain views from the living room and dining room, family room, and master bedroom. We were a group of 6 - two adults, with two teenage children and two children in their 20's. There was a lot of room to spread out with a living room and a family room on two different levels, three decks, and three bathrooms. The house was immaculate, and the decor refreshingly modern with attractive Scandinavian touches. Jan and Carolyn were wonderful hosts; friendly and available. They had thought of countless ways for us to be comfortable, from stocking the kitchen with cooking basics (including wonderful coffee), to leaving a fire set in the fireplace (which burned wonderfully), and to filling a hummingbird feeder so that we could enjoy daily displays of hummingbirds. The house felt very private, yet was close to an entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, to fabulous restaurants, and to the town of Estes Park. In summary, it was just perfect.
